Sony's new version of the PS5, which comes with a new screw for its stand and weighs about two-thirds of a pound lighter, isn't actually worse than its launch version, according to extensive testing done by Digital Foundry and Gamer's Nexus. That's in spite of claims from YouTuber Austin Evans, who showed that the weight shed off in the new PS5 model came almost entirely from the console's cooling element.Naturally, the result of reducing the overall size of a console's cooling element will cause it to run a bit hotter, and for what it's worth, the new version of the PS5 does, albeit just slightly. The difference, which amounts to a couple of degrees Celsius, is the same that a PC enthusiast would see switching from one CPU cooler to another. In the tech world, this kind of change in temperature for consumer electronics is called negligible. That being said, Stephen Burke of Gamers Nexus emphasized that people should be performing regular maintenance on their PS5, regardless of what model they have. "Our recommendation to you all would be… make sure it's maintained. Don't let dust build up, it's really easy to pop those panels off, anyone can do it," Burke said. Naturally, that goes double for anyone keeping their PS5 in a media cabinet, where air circulation is extremely limited and temperatures can actually get to a point where they impact a console's lifespan.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Dead Cells' 25th update, "Practice Makes Perfect," adds a training room and special optional enhancements to make the roguelike easier. The update, which is live now on PC and consoles, aims to make the learning curve of Dead Cells easier for newcomers, without taking away the difficulty fans enjoy. The new training room allows players to practice fighting any mob they have already encountered in the game. Players can also practice fighting the bosses in the environment they are normally found in order to hone their skills before facing the real deal. Our 25th #deadcells update 'Practice makes Perfect' is live on PC & consoles! Introducing a training room for you to hone your skills against mobs & bosses plus Aspects, one-off powerups that let you rampage through the island.#steam #NintendoSwitch #PlayStation #Xbox pic.twitter.com/cETgQc0l3F — Motion Twin (@motiontwin) September 16, 2021The other new addition is the optional Aspects, which give special one-off powers that make it easier to progress through the game. While an Aspect is active, players can't unlock new boss cells or flawless boss achievements, so players will need to finish a run without an Aspect to unlock the next difficulty level. The Aspects provide specific bonuses, like Toxin Lover which negates the effect of poison and causes poisonous gas clouds and pools to slowly heal you. Players will need to pick the Aspect that best suits their playstyle.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

In a recent series of escalating verbal shots being fired, director Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Chappie) has called director Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2048, Dune: Part One) a "f***ing a**hole" for the latter's apparent harsh criticism over the Marvel Cinematic Universe.Villeneuve, whose long-delayed sweeping sci-fi epic Dune: Part One will finally hit theaters on October 22, recently spoke for an interview with the Spanish publication El Mundo. When asked why big-budget movies are still relevant, the director apparently--according to translated text reported by other publications--said, "The problem is that we are in front of too many Marvel movies that are nothing more than a 'cut and paste' of others… Perhaps these types of movies have turned us into zombies a bit… But big and expensive movies of great value there are many today. I don’t feel capable of being pessimistic at all."What a fucking asshole https://t.co/vXH13aIAA1 — Neill Blomkamp (@NeillBlomkamp) September 16, 2021You can read Blomkamp's thoughts in the tweet above, though again it does bear repeating that the circulating English translations may have been computer-generated and many not quite capture the intended spirit, wording, or sentiment of Villeneuve's thoughts. However, Villeneuve had also recently spoke dismissively of Marvel movies with the French outlet Premiere, saying, "These films are made from the same mold. Some filmmakers can add a little color to it, but they’re all cast in the same factory. It doesn't take anything away from the movies, but they are formatted." Again, it is entirely possible that something may have been lost in translation.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The latest Destiny 2 hotfix, patch 3.3.0.2, is live now, fixing a number of issues across the game and re-enabling the Wormgod Caress and Radiant Dance Machines exotic items. The patch notes were detailed in a blog post, the hotfix has solved an issue where Precious Scars was not restoring the correct amount of shields upon matching weapon kills, resulting in players not healing as much as intended. The ongoing issues with the Wormgod Caress exotic Titan gauntlets and the Radiant Dance Machines exotic Hunter leg armor have been solved. Bungie has re-enabled both items across all modes after disabling the items due to them being unintentionally overpowered. In PvP matches the Radiant Dance Machines could be used in combination with other items to allow Hunters to build their super meter extremely quickly, letting Hunters use their supers far more often than other classes in a single match. The Wormgod Caress exotic was disabled because it was unintentionally allowing Titans to deal a large amount of damage with throwing hammers. It also solved a bug where Prometheus Spurs were not consistently spawning combination rifts while rift energy is full. Other changes include Explosive Light increasing damage of rocket launchers by 25% for both impact and detonation, increasing the cooldown of Shoot to Loot to four seconds, and fixing an issue where Danger Zone was not functioning correctly on Rocket Launchers.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

This year has been a major turning point for Destiny 2. After experiments with a season-focused approach to live-game content and storytelling in the wake of 2018 and 2019's major expansions, the model has developed into a highlight of the game in the months following Beyond Light in 2020. New activities have popped up every few months, and more than in the past, they're adding to an unfolding narrative that builds off past seasons to make Destiny 2 feel more like a living world than it ever has before. For developer Bungie, however, there's more to hone about its current seasonal approach. As Destiny 2 creative director Joe Blackburn explained, the studio is happy with where it has landed in terms of narrative development and activity content, but there are still places in which the seasonal approach takes a back seat to other big releases. Season 16, the next on Destiny 2's docket, will release on the same day as the upcoming Witch Queen expansion in February. As Blackburn sees it, that season will be another big step in the evolution of Destiny 2's live content."I think Season 16 is going to be the next big boiling point for us," Blackburn said in an interview with GameSpot. "We've really had trouble with some of these seasons that come out right alongside the expansion. And so we've put a lot of thought and effort into how we want to do that better this time around. I mean, you, as a hardcore Destiny player, know that it can feel tough for the season to matter when it comes out a week [after the release of an expansion], and you've already got raid weapons, and you're like, 'I don't know if I need this--does this stuff really matter?' So we're really excited to get Season 16 out day and date with Witch Queen this time and to have a lot of stuff for players to do and engage with, and really see the value immediately, not only to give you stuff to do while you're leveling up, but to give you stuff while you're prepping for some of those endgame activities."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Like most good detective stories, Lost Judgment begins with the ghastly discovery of a maggot-infested corpse. A single homicide is merely the tip of the iceberg, of course, but the unusual circumstances surrounding the dead body's discovery set the stage for another compelling mystery for private investigator Takayuki Yagami to solve. The first Judgment began in a similar fashion, presenting itself as a Yakuza spin-off that was nevertheless overly familiar due to its penchant for delving into the criminal theatrics Rya ga Gotoku Studio is known for. Yagami's latest adventure still dips its feet into the deep end of the criminal underworld, but Lost Judgment distances itself from its Yakuza-flavored origins with much more regularity than its predecessor, resulting in a better and more distinct game that's still tinged with an overt sense of deja vu.This begins right from the off, as the first hour or so is spent traversing the well-worn streets of Kamurocho. Revisiting the bustling red-light district for the umpteenth time still doesn't grow stale thanks to its lively atmosphere and intricate visual design. It's a place full of fond memories and there's a pleasant sense of comfort in its familiarity, yet it's hard not to feel relieved when Yagami's latest case takes you south of Tokyo and into the port city of Yokohama. The fictional district of Isezaki Ijincho was first introduced in last year's Yakuza: Like a Dragon and makes its return in Lost Judgment relatively untouched. Based on the real-life Yokohama district of Isezakichō, it's a bigger urban sprawl than Kamurocho but still maintains the same density, from the busy streets of Isezaki Road to the various storefronts and eateries located throughout the district.Step through the automatic doors of a Poppo store and you'll be greeted by a short electronic tune that announces your arrival. The magazine aisle is stacked with lifestyle magazines, manga, and cookbooks, while the refrigerators at the back of the store are filled with assorted snacks, from onigiri and Bento lunch sets to a dizzying array of drinks including Suntory green tea and BOSS coffee. Elsewhere, you can head to the bar district to find each cozy hangout stocked with real-world alcohol, while passing beneath the Paifang in Chinatown will lead you to restaurants adorned with dragons and golden guardian lions, as residents converse under a baroque pavilion.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Ubisoft's new guitar game, Rocksmith+, has been delayed to next year. The publisher has confirmed that the game will now launch at some undetermined point in 2022."We've mapped out the work we'd like to prioritize following your feedback and decided to push the release of Rocksmith+ to 2022," Ubisoft said in a blog post. "We understand that this delay is disappointing. Our decision stems from a commitment to quality first, and a desire to meet the high expectations of our community and ourselves. Every Rocksmith+ player deserves to easily find the music you care about, to feel a sense of growth and mastery over your instrument, and to trust that the notes you play are heard fairly and accurately."Rocksmith+ is designed as a live service game that gets new updates constantly, and this requires the studio to "think long term," Ubisoft said. The studio said it is mindful of the work-life balance for its employees, too. "A healthy team means a healthy product built to last for many years to come. Thank you all for your patience and for your understanding while we put in the extra time," Ubisoft said.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Sony has unveiled a new edition of the PS5's Pulse 3D wireless headset: Midnight Black. If that sounds familiar, it's because Midnight Black was also used with the new DualSense colors that launched this summer. God of War: Ragnarok includes a new mythological character, Thor, who is played by Sons of Anarchy's Ryan Hurst and sports a different look compared to Chris Hemsworth's MCU version. Some corners of the internet and social media took issue with Thor's look in Ragnarok. British powerlifting champion Darren McCormac has now shared his insights on Thor's appearance in Ragnarok, saying Thor's bulk is indicative of his super-strength."Like it or not, God of War's Thor is the peak of male performance," McCormac told The Sixth Axis. "As a strength athlete, there is a correlation between bulk and strength. In powerlifting, the most competitive classes are the under 100kg and under 110kg--guys who are lifting multiple times their own bodyweight. They won't be tall, they'll be bulky.""Not all these guys will have abs, far from it," he added. "They'll have a layer of lard over it, a power belly. Any old fool can get abs--yes I am looking at you, Mr. Hemsworth--but a power belly and big traps (the muscles either side of your neck) are the sign of a bloody strong man."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
