Seattle Seahawks fans have caused minor earthquakes in the past, such is the raucousness of the aptly named 12th Man. The crowd at CenturyLink Field has also earned two Guinness World Records for the loudest roar recorded at a sports stadium, once registering a deafening 137.6 decibels back in 2014. Of course, Seattle isn't the only city known for its boisterous fans and intimidating atmosphere, and this is reflected throughout the various stadiums in Madden NFL 22. After criticism that last year's game was light on new content--particularly as it relates to Franchise mode--developer EA Tiburon has introduced a number of sweeping changes this time around, with the crowd being the most prominent right out of the gate. The new Gameday Atmosphere feature brings crowds to life with new animations and remastered fan recordings that more accurately replicate what you're likely to see and hear on any given Sunday. It also extends beyond the cosmetic side, too, as the ball will fly further in Denver's high altitude, while the wind will play havoc with your field goal team in Chicago. On top of this, the intensity of the home fans will have an impact on the way games can play out. This feature is called Gameday Momentum, and it introduces a momentum meter to the top of the screen that will shift back and forth like a tug-of-war depending on the performance of each team. If momentum is on your side--because of a big sack or crucial touchdown, for instance--you'll gain access to various bonuses (called M-Factors) that give your team an edge in certain situations. This works in tandem with Gameday Atmosphere to ratchet up the significance of home field advantage, especially when playing in front of crowds known for their vociferousness.Gallery The aforementioned 12th Man of the Seattle Seahawks will cause the opposing team's pre-snap play art to be distorted on 3rd and 4th down, turning each receiver's route into a squiggly mess. Elsewhere, Vikings players will gain a small speed boost in the red zone when the "Skol" chant reverberates around the U.S. Bank Stadium. It looks and sounds a tad gamified on the surface, but Gameday Momentum and Atmosphere are crucial additions that capture the unique fandom of each team and accurately reflect the wild swings in momentum that can occur during the course of a heated football game. It gives rivalries that big game feel and intensifies those drives where the home fans are fervently working against you. The impact of home field advantage in the NFL is tangible, and can often be the difference between winning and losing, yet Madden 22 marks the first time the series has truly emulated such an integral part of the sport.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

If absolutely nothing else, be grateful to Naraka Bladepoint for being one of a scant few battle royale titles where getting one-shotted by someone hiding in a shrub three football fields away isn't a danger. That by itself makes it welcoming in a way the genre tends to ignore. But lurking beneath that relative ease and approachability is a shrewd game of wuxia-inspired combat that demandsfar more steelfrom its players--and we're not just talking about swords and spears. The basic premise of Naraka Bladepoint involves a secret island where warring gods once battled to their deaths, and warriors now battle for the smallest part of the gods' power. But that story all but evaporates after the tutorial stage, aside from some skimpy lore cards for each character unlocked after reaching a certain XP level. All you really need to know is you're on an island of abandoned villages, scattered weapon caches, and an undulating purple wall of death that ushers 60 brave warriors closer and closer together. Your sole mission is to be the last person standing, by any and all means necessary.Survival means combat, but instead of the usual pistols/shotguns/assault rifles, you're primarily looking at melee weapons. Ranged options do exist, from crossbows and slow-firing muskets to environmental hazards that can be triggered by the right slice or shot at the right time. You also have a grappling hook that not only allows you to zip across the map and onto higher ground, but also harpoon and fly at opponents Attack on Titan-style.Aside from the hook, each ranged option exists to merely soften up opponents from a distance as they close in. Getting the big fat kill involves getting up close and personal with something sharp, and here, showdowns with opponents have more in common with Dynasty Warriors and SoulCalibur than Fortnite.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The mystery of Skyrim foxes seemingly leading players to treasure has been explained by former Skyrim dev Joel Burgess in a Twitter thread. Not a feature intentionally implemented, the foxes appeared to “guide” players to hidden rewards due to the game's navmesh--a 3D sheet of polygons overlaid on the environment that directs the paths of AI.Alright, so inspired by @NPurkeypile's bee post yesterday, here is one of my favorite bits of Skyrim oral history - the myth of the treasure fox.I've told this story before in talks/etc, but I don't think I've shared it with twitter. Here goes. pic.twitter.com/7uaUlbpmQ8 — Joel Burgess (@JoelBurgess) August 18, 2021According to Burgess' explanation, Skyrim foxes had a simple AI: They were programmed to only flee away when encountered. So why would they flee towards areas of treasure? It's because sites where treasure were hidden--like campsites and ruins--contained more complex triangles than wilderness locations. So if a fox is programmed to flee 100 triangles, then it would gravitate towards running to areas with lots of triangles, which tend to be aforementioned areas of complexity like ruins and camps. That's why if players followed a fox in Skyrim, they were likely to encounter areas with hidden treasures. It's a pretty neat story of how unintentional gameplay emerged from a confluence of different systems.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Call of Duty: Warzone's August 16 update made a few weapon tweaks, but it may have unintentionally buffed the Fennec submachine gun in a really broken way.Alongside a few pistols nerfs, Modern Warfare's Fennec received a buff to bullet velocity to attempt to make it a more viable option in the submachine gun class, but the patch notes mention an increase by 13.4%, and the submachine gun actually got quite a bit more. This submachine gun can now take down enemies parachuting from the sky with virtually no bullet drop.According to one of Call of Duty's most popular YouTube analysts JGOD, the Fennec got more like a 1000% increase to the bullet velocity, which is definitely a huge increase that was obviously not what developers Raven Software intended. He also suggests that the buff makes the Fennec a great sniper support, as the increased bullet velocity helps for longer-ranged gunfights, while the powerful submachine gun will definitely work for those close-quarters engagements.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Ghost of Tsushima's Iki Island expansion is now available to purchase for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and you may be wondering exactly how long this new add-on content could last in comparison to the base game. The short answer is three hours. The more nuanced one is it depends on your playstyle, as Iki Island lasts anywhere from a couple to a couple dozen hours if you're trying to do and see everything. In our Ghost of Tsushima Iki Island expansion review, editor Phil Hornshaw wrote that you could finish the DLC in "just a handful of hours" if you mainline the quest. To be precise, the add-on's storyline runs about three hours in total. Completing all the side missions pushes that runtime up to approximately 10 hours. Meanwhile, trying to track down all the collectibles and completing all the additional quests extends Iki Island to almost 15 hours in length.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

It turns out the rumors were true: Call of Duty: Vanguard is the next entry in the first-person shooter series, and developer Sledgehammer is again setting its turn on the franchise in World War II. Vanguard's release date is set for November 5, and while it'll have a similar setting to the last Sledgehammer outing, 2017's Call of Duty: WWII, it sounds like it'll be pretty vastly different--and may well be combining World War II elements with some of the ideas that were part of the 2019 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot. We got an early, hands-off look at Call of Duty: Vanguard, which is slated to come to PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Sledgehammer showed a presentation that explained a number of aspects of what we can expect from the game. From the sound of it, Vanguard is both broader than past CoD games set during World War II, and more specific. It follows four different characters, each from a different nation among the Allied forces and fighting on a different front of the war, as they come together to form a unique team near the conflict's end. World War II saw the creation of the concept of "special forces," which would go on to define our current idea of modern warfare. Game director Josh Bridge explained the single-player campaign focuses on the "birth" of the concept of special forces, while the multiplayer experience centers on what it's like to fight as one of those elite soldiers. It sounds very much like WWII by way of Modern Warfare--and in fact, Sledgehammer says it's using an upgraded version of the Modern Warfare engine for the game. You play as elite soldiers, but they're not yet the tier one operators present in modern-day warzones. As Bridge described it, the "down the barrel" experience of fighting in Vanguard will have you feeling like a hammer, using automatic weapons and a high degree of force, rather than the more precise scalpel we might consider tier one operators to be. Don't expect the house-clearing moments of Modern Warfare--Vanguard seems like it'll be less controlled and a little more chaotic.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

As such, it'll exist and operate in that same universe.
