Amnesia: Rebirth is Frictional Games' upcoming sequel to the highly popular horror game Amnesia: The Dark Descent. In a gameplay video, players got the chance to see a preview of Rebirth's graphics, mechanisms, and tools. Set in the Algerian desert--a marked difference from The Dark Descent's gloomy castle--the protagonist, Tasi Trianon, explores a broken-down tank in a dusty outdoor setting and a corpse-laden indoor area.We see the inventory system in action as Trianon grabs a key in the tank. The lighting actions present in The Dark Descent are also here in Rebirth, but with a twist. Trianon makes her way through dark rooms and corridors with matches and needs to quickly light lamps placed in rooms. It also appears that Trianon eventually finds a handheld oil lamp, which certainly makes running away from monsters easier.As Frictional Games shared on PlayStation's Blog, the developers wanted to keep the players' ability to light torches and candles in dark areas in Rebirth, but felt that the tinderboxes in The Dark Descent didn't fit in the context of Rebirth's 1930s setting. Having already been delayed previously due to COVID-19, the next James Bond movie, No Time to Die, has been pushed back again. No Time to Die's release date has been officially delayed until next year, with a new date set for April 2, 2021. Although COVID was not specifically referenced in the brief statement, it's the clear motivation for the delay."MGM, Universal and Bond producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, today announced the release of No Time to Die, the 25th film in the James Bond series, will be delayed until 2 April 2021 in order to be seen by a worldwide theatrical audience," it was announced on Twitter. Hyper Scape is Ubisoft's new free-to-play entry into the battle royale genre, but--as the developer admits in a blog post--the game has fallen short of expectations. The game was released in open beta in July and officially released on August 11. In the months following, Hyper Scape hasn't been able to make a big splash or compete with popular contemporary battle royale staples like Fortnite and PUBG.However, the company is planning to make major changes to the game in order to attract new players and retain existing ones. For making the environment more hospitable to new players, Ubisoft is planning to lower the skill ceiling, provide more training activities, and diversify game modes.Ubisoft states that the game's learning curve is too difficult for newcomers and it is currently "too hard to aim, track and consistently damage players, and eliminate them, especially on console." Regarding game modes, the company also acknowledges that the core game mode, Crown Rush, is "unforgiving." New aspects such as respawn systems and "deathmatch" style game modes will be added soon. Members of the multinational video game piracy group Team Xecuter are facing multiple felony charges, the US Attorney's Office of the Western District of Washington announced today. Max Louarn, Yuanning Chen, and Gary Bowser were all charged with 11 felony counts, including wire fraud, trafficking in circumvention devices, and conspiracy to commit money laundering."These defendants were allegedly leaders of a notorious international criminal group that reaped illegal profits for years by pirating video game technology of US companies," Brian Rabbitt, Acting Assistant Attorney General of the Justice Department's Criminal Division, said. Billy Crudup, best known to genre fans as Dr. Manhattan in Zack Snyder's Watchmen movie, is in early talks to join the cast of the much delayed Flash movie, according to THR. If you have a bit of deja vu, though, don't worry--it's not Barry Allen messing up timelines. This has all happened before.The Flash has been in the planning stages for a long time. Ezra Miller appeared as Barry Allen in 2017's Justice League, and Billy Crudup as his father Henry in just one scene. Crudup was set, like Miller, to reprise his role in the standalone Flash film. Since then, the movie has been through a long list of directors and writers.After Phil Lord and Chris Miller declined, Seth Grahame-Smith was to write and direct. After he left, DOPE director Rick Famuyiwa stepped in before leaving over creative differences. Directors like Robert Zemeckis, Sam Raimi, and Marc Webb were in the running, and Lord and Miller were reportedly once again in talks to helm the film. It was around this time that Crudup decided to step away from the movie. Filmmaking duo John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein were set to direct for a year, but they too left the movie. Kirby Fighters 2 has somewhat of an adorable identity crisis on its puffy, pink hands. It initially comes across as a gateway fighting game, an entry step even before the widely-loved Super Smash Bros. series. Approachable in both controls and tone, Kirby Fighters 2 is a mostly pleasant brawler bursting with charm. A slender content offering and some bizarre difficult spikes notwithstanding, Kirby's latest spinoff is a capable combatant.There are no stage knockouts or lives here, just a scrap until someone gets knocked out. Also, most of the characters are Kirby--well, a variety of Kirbys equipped with different copy abilities, alongside some other familiar characters who aren't Kirby to round out the roster. Among the pink puffballs of pain are series classics such as the Link-wannabe Sword Kirby, Artist Kirby who draws minions to cause damage, and Bomb Kirby, who does exactly what you think. And like the original Crash games, the hybrid of Crash's old and new ideas will test your platforming skills in interesting new ways.Like its groan-inducing dad-joke of a subtitle says, Crash 4 is about time… travel. When the villains of Crash's past open an interdimensional portal, Crash and Coco have to collect a set of quantum masks in order to set things right. As with past Crash games, small exchanges in cutscenes between levels do a lot of narrative legwork. It's not much of a "story" per se, but Crash and his friends' charm fills in the gaps and makes you care enough to follow along.Crash 4's time-traveling story takes you to all sorts of times and places, including dinosaur-infested jungles, futuristic cities full of flying cars, and sunken pirate ships. Every place you go feels lush, full of color and detail, with a painterly quality that's simply wonderful to run through. My favorite is the Mardi Gras world, where Crash and Spyro balloons float in the background as you hop over neon-colored flames and trumpet valves. Occasionally, you'll run through an area and the camera will pull back to let you take in the scenery. Get ready to head back into the Haunted Forest for Destiny 2's Halloween-themed event, the Festival of the Lost. The last holiday event before the launch of the Beyond Light expansion is seeing new cosmetics for players to snag and new versions of past Halloween-themed guns to earn.Bungie put out a new trailer for the event, which is free to all players and doesn't require buying into the Season of Arrivals season pass, to show off what you can expect. The primary thrust is a bunch of new spooky armor looks, emotes, sparrows, and ghost shells to get you into the Halloween spirit. The event usually has you doing some light trick-or-treating with various Destiny 2 characters while wearing papercraft Halloween masks. It also sends you into a version of Mercury's Infinite Forest called the Haunted Forest, where your goal is to kill enemies as fast as you can to unlock more and more of the forest. The farther you get, the more bosses you'll face, and the more rewards you can earn.
