The past several months have been stressful, and with several weeks to go before the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S arrive, you might be feeling a little anxious and uneasy. Microsoft wants to help, evidently, as the official Xbox Twitter account has posted a relaxation video to guide you in finding inner peace. It may make the wait a little bit easier. Described as a tutorial level that rewards you with the "calmness perk," the video is bizarre. If you've been following the Xbox social media team recently, that's quite on-brand.Take a break from scrolling and find some inner peace pic.twitter.com/QxBQFAImJC — Xbox (@Xbox) October 4, 2020The narrator asks you to forget about your kill-to-death ratio or any trouble you've had in recent games, and to instead focus only on breathing in and out.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The PS5 doesn't release for over a month, but Japanese YouTube creator Pocky Sweets was one lucky player who already got his hands on one, and he showcased new gameplay in a video. Not only do we see an extended look at some of the system's launch games, but we also get to see just how massive the console really is.Placed vertically in the video, the YouTube Gaming team had the console on top of a table so it would be easier to see, but we're also not entirely sure it would fit in the entertainment center that housed the television. You may need to move some things around to get your system to fit in your setup. While the Xbox Series X is also a big machine, it isn't as tall as the PS5 and is completely flat on its sides. This should make it a little easier to fit into an existing setup. The first game on display in the video is Astro's Playroom, which comes pre-installed on every PS5. The 3D platformer is designed to showcase the controller's unique features, and its structure looks very similar to Super Mario 64. The version we'll get won't be a simple demo: It's actually a full game that will take several hours to complete. Areas are themed like the PS5 itself, including one section that has a giant fan. We're hearing (or not hearing) that the PS5 is surprisingly quiet, too.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Keanu Reeves is keeping busy as we approach the Cyberpunk 2077 release date, as he has appeared in a second TV spot for the game. In this commercial, he teases--or warns--that your potential in the world is only limited by what you're willing to become. We see a quick glimpse of the sleek Night City in this trailer as augmented citizens brawl with their cybernetic enhancements and speed down the street in futuristic cars. Reeves' words likely have a second meaning, of course, not only talking about physical augmentations but also the limits of your own morality. As with other CD Projekt Red role-playing games, you can take your character in drastically different directions based on your choices."If you can hack it, the future is yours for the taking," Reeves adds.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Nintendo has revealed when Minecraft's Steve will be coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The legendary blocky explorer arrives in the game on October 13.Steve's taunt includes eating a steak, and his standard jump is too short to get up to most platforms. However, he can also build blocks to get to these, and his midair jump is high enough to reach them, as well.Steve's regular attacks include a swinging sword move, as you might expect. Holding the button down will let you walk forward and backward while swinging, which is useful for defending yourself in tricky situations, but it has pretty short reach. His side smash is a sweep attack that only exists in Minecraft's Java Edition, while his axe is used as an anti-air attack and to juggle enemies. The pickaxe is used for mining from the ground and for a dash attack that quickly closes gaps. It looks like Steve will excel and controlling space, regardless of the map. If you do manage to get in close, however, he could be in trouble. Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

If there's a piece of video game hardware that ever really impressed me, outside of the return and rapid advancement of virtual reality, it has to be Kinect. Microsoft's natural movement input camera turned your body into a controller for the Xbox 360, and it worked surprisingly well in translating a person's movements to a character on a TV screen. Playing games like bowling with Kinect, picking up an imaginary ball and flinging it down an imaginary lane only to see all that kinetic energy made "real" in a video game, felt like a form of magic. As Kinect started to get hacked to serve as the eyes for robots or to help improve the accuracy of surgeons, I thought for sure we'd see the device become an important part of not just the gaming landscape but of innovations in technology in general. When Microsoft announced the Xbox One in 2013, Kinect was an essential part of the design. Microsoft was envisioning a future where you were constantly talking to and waving your hands at your TV to control shows, make Skype calls, and play video games--and while I had a whole lot of problems with the console at the time, it still seemed like the sort of Blade Runner/Back to the Future/Minority Report technology that marked many visions of the future.Seven years later, the future is here. With the Xbox Series X/S, Microsoft has dialed back on just about all of the ideas the console-maker once seemed to think would compose the future of gaming. But it's not only Microsoft--the same is true of Sony and its PlayStation 5. The next generation is here, and if I'm being honest, I'm finding it kind of boring. The games I'll be playing this holiday season seem pretty similar to the games I've been playing for the better part of a decade.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Minecraft has announced a new update during Minecraft Live 2020. It's called the Caves & Cliff update, and when it arrives in Summer 2021 it will greatly diversify the game's cave systems. After this update, caves will be more varied, with new, unique blocks and mobs to gather and fight, too. After this update, caves will feature more varied interiors, with lush caves, dripstone caves, and crystal geode caves mentioned. The game will feature improved cave generation, so that interiors will have more variety--you will encounter more narrow tunnels, cave lakes, and different environments than before. A new archelogy system is being implemented, so you can dig within caves for ruins and artifacts. Using a brush will let you extract fragile objects, while pretending that you're at the dig from the opening scene of Jurassic Park.Players will also be able to encounter sculk sensor and stalactite/stalagmite blocks in the underground areas now. The sensors react to movement and emit a redstone signal, meaning that redstone can now be wireless. This should open up new possibilities for contraption builds.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

It certainly appears that EA is preparing to announce a remastered version of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, and it could arrive just in time for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PS5.A timer on the Need for Speed official website currently counts down, ending on Monday, October 5. It doesn't give much indication of what the announcement could be, but that hasn't stopped the franchise's official Twitter account from sharing images of cars racing alongside police cruisers, along with cryptic messages.Big Joe has to be messing with me. Not sure how he found out. So much effort just to tease me, and I only wanted some pizza. pic.twitter.com/DW2lLYIAUE — Need for Speed (@NeedforSpeed) October 2, 2020They're really onto me. How much time did it take them to get chased by 10 cops on Heat 5? Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered had been listed briefly on Amazon UK and was rated in South Korea, making it fairly likely that is what is being announced in a few days.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Borderlands is an explosive and brash FPS-RPG franchise that hangs its hat on crude humor and the largest arsenal of weapons in gaming. Despite its reputation for being a bit one-note and too loud for its own good, it's earned a massive following that continues to engage in the satisfying loot-grind to earn some rare guns and increase the strength of the core cast of vault hunters. Following Borderlands 3's one year anniversary, we spent an hour chatting with Gearbox Software founder and executive producer Randy Pitchford about the early history of the franchise, the ethics of running an evolving game, and what's to come with Borderlands 3 with the next-gen consoles on the horizon.Editor's Note: This interview had been edited for clarity and readability.Firstly, given that 2020 is a chaotic year with COVID-19, how have things been at Gearbox Software?Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

While Gearbox Software has not divulged the details of Borderlands 3's newest game mode as part of its upcoming DLC, the studio has revealed its name and small teases of what players can expect. It doesn't sound like anything we've seen in the series to date. The new mode is called Arms Race and the point of it is, according to Gearbox, "to make every gun matter in a really interesting way." What exactly the mode is remains unknown, but in an interview with GameSpot, which focused on the first year of Borderlands 3, Gearbox said Arms Race is a standalone mode that will change things up for the looter-shooter."Our goal with Arms Race is to make the gun game in our game of millions of guns really matter," said lead level designer Graeme Timmins. "And I can talk about that game mode for hours. I'm so excited about it, but we'll have to wait. I'll say it's got its own environment and just leave it at that."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

We scored it a 7.6 in our 2006 review of Silent Hill 4: The Room, saying, "Silent Hill 4: The Room is an interesting sequel; it attempts to branch out in several areas of gameplay and setting, while remaining true to the psychological thriller style that's always set the Silent Hill series apart from more action-oriented scares."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
