Respawn has released the full patch notes for the Apex Legends update that's going live alongside the upcoming Aftermarket Collection Event, a limited-time event that adds Caustic's heirloom, legendary cosmetics, a brand-new mode, and cross-play to the battle royale game. The two big standouts in the patch notes are character balancing changes and evo shield adjustments. In terms of characters, Wraith and Pathfinder get the two big changes this time. Respawn has attempted to nerf both characters numerous times, as both consistently remain top picks for their overall utility and dominance (especially Wraith). "We don't want to hit [Wraith's] abilities anymore," Respawn writes in the patch notes. "We think both she and Pathfinder have been pushed to the edge in terms of cooldown and utility nerfs where pushing them any further would make them a lot less fun to play."So instead of adjusting her abilities any further, Respawn is instead changing the interdimensional skirmisher's running animation--something that has allowed the already tiny legend to become even smaller and harder to hit. The new animations make her "more upright and expose a larger area of her body to gunfire," which should nerf Wraith a bit by making her easier to hit.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Saying "2020 has been weird for movies" is the understatement of the century. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, movie release dates have been pushed back time and time again since it's unclear when it's safe to reopen everything. And now Dune has been delayed until October 1, 2021, which just so happens to be the same day Matt Reeves' The Batman is coming out.As of this writing, the release date for The Batman has not changed. Director Denis Villeneuve's Dune comes from Legendary Pictures whose distributer is Warner Bros. Because of this, there is a very real chance that one of these movies will be reshuffled to a new date.2021 will be a year of Hollywood studios fighting over various weekends--if in fact it's safe to go to the movies again. We've already seen the ninth installment in the Fast & Furious franchise get pushed back because of conflicts with No Time to Die, James Bond's latest adventure.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Sony isn't just a video game console-making giant, it's also a commercial marketing genius. Over the past 26 years of PlayStation’s existence, Sony has managed to sell over half a billion consoles, and it didn’t just do it with remarkable exclusives alone. It also subliminally implanted PlayStation into our consciousness with weird-ass ads, most of which don’t even show its games. Most recently, Sony released a PlayStation 5 ad called "The Edge." It’s about a man on a boat, who drifts off the edge of an ocean into outer space with flying whales, pirate ships, and unidentified flying objects. I don’t understand it, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say it wasn’t compelling, which, to me, gives Sony's esoteric approach to marketing a lot of merit. From David Lynch (Eraserhead, Twin Peaks) to Chris Cunningham (Aphex Twin’s Come To Daddy), Sony has worked with many visionary auteurs to produce strange and unforgettable ads. So I decided to take one last look on some of the most peculiar ones, like the infamous baby commercial, or Jimmy Dynamite, before we head into a new era of high brow ads that are most likely on the way for that PlayStation 5.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Payday 3, a sequel to Payday 2 that was first announced back in May 2016, is still in the works. There was reason to believe that the game might have been quietly cancelled, amid issues faced by publisher and developer Starbreeze, but it seems that this is not the case.In 2018 Starbreeze faced some major financial hardships, with their offices raided following accusations of insider trading. The company's The Walking Dead game underperformed, as well. Production on Payday 3 had begun in early 2017, but Starbreeze was public about its struggles, and the difficulties it faced in keeping the company running. In late 2019, the developer announced that work would continue on Payday 2 in an attempt to recoup some money, and earlier this year the publisher said that the game was still earning money, despite releasing back in 2013.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Mundaun, a horror game with hand-drawn visuals and a unique fear system, is coming to next-gen. Developer Hidden Fields has been working on the game since 2015 and has finally revealed its release date. Mundaun will come to Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 in Q1 2021.The game, a horror experience set in the Swiss Alps, is inspired by designer Michel Ziegler's own experiences holidaying in the Alps as a child. At least some of the dialog in the game will be recorded in Romansh. This language is exclusive to a very specific region of the Alps and spoken by only 44,000 people as of 2017. The game is aiming for authenticity--an example was given of an in-game art studio you explore, which was modeled after a real house used by an artist in the region during the 1950s.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The game, previously announced for PC, will hit both Steam and the Switch Eshop on October 22.Nothing we write is going to sum up Disc Room quite as elegantly as the description at the start of the video below: "Disc Room is a game about rooms with discs. Really, really sharp discs."The game is set in 2089, when a giant disc appears around Jupiter. For whatever reason, you're sent in there to explore it--and it turns out the rooms in the disc are filled with traps.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Among Us players have started to experience different types of cheating when they hop into matches. Thanks to cheaters, players have had their nicknames edited, their entire crews ejected at the start of the match, and had games where there was an extra impostor. The three person studio Innersloth has been trying to tackle the problem.“We’re rushing to get an account system in place so we can have better moderation and reporting systems built around that,” Among Us programmer Forest Willard told Kotaku. “Also getting help with making the servers better at detecting and blocking hacks. And investigating client-side hack prevention as well. I’m sort of scrambling to get all the right people in place, but I’m attacking it from multiple angles so it can get better in many ways hopefully all at once.”There is no reward, cosmetic or otherwise, for winning in Among Us, which makes the presence of cheaters and griefers particularly odd.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

It's been a tumultuous time for cinemas, with many big 2020 films--including Black Widow, No Time to Die, and F9: The Fast Saga--moving to 2021 release dates. But now, one movie scheduled for 2021 has actually moved forward into an otherwise quiet December 2020 release slot--Monster Hunter. The new film from Paul W. S. Anderson, who previously directed all the live-action Resident Evil movies, has moved from an April 23, 2021 release date to December 30, 2020, Sony has announced. Members of the multinational video game piracy group Team Xecuter are facing multiple felony charges, the US Attorney's Office of the Western District of Washington announced Friday. Max Louarn, Yuanning Chen, and Gary Bowser (yes, that's really his last name) were all charged with 11 felony counts, including wire fraud, trafficking in circumvention devices, and conspiracy to commit money laundering."These defendants were allegedly leaders of a notorious international criminal group that reaped illegal profits for years by pirating video game technology of US companies," Brian Rabbitt, Acting Assistant Attorney General of the Justice Department's Criminal Division, said. "These arrests show that the department will hold accountable hackers who seek to commandeer and exploit the intellectual property of American companies for financial gain, no matter where they may be located."Team Xecuter, known for releasing homebrew software for various video game systems including the Nintendo Switch and 3DS, is comprised of more than a dozen members around the world. The indictment alleges the group "at times cloaked its illegal activity with a purported desire to support gaming enthusiasts who wanted to design their own video games for noncommercial use. However, the overwhelming demand and use for the enterprise's devices was to play pirated video games."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
