Fans around the world are mourning the passing of Eddie Van Halen, 65, who died Tuesday after a long battle with throat cancer. Different fans are mourning him in different ways, and that includes Bill & Ted Face the Music co-writer Ed Solomon.Solomon, who co-wrote both of the original movies and the brand new Bill & Ted Face the Music took to Twitter to talk about trying to get the legendary guitarist in the movie."Super sad to hear about the passing of Eddie Van Halen. He was a big influence on Chris and me as we were writing 'Bill & Ted.' In fact, when director Stephen Herek was reading the script he got three pages in, stopped, put on '1984' and resumed. We wanted the movie to be a cinematic 'Jump,'" Solomon said. "We tried to get him to do something--anything--in 'Face the Music,' but they said he was unavailable and wouldn’t tell us why. Sadly, I think I know now."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Many Nintendo Switch fans have experienced the sad phenomenon of Joy-Con drift, where the analog stick in the console's controller starts to veer in one direction, making it difficult or impossible to control games. There's currently a class action lawsuit against Nintendo in the US over the issue, and now the company is being sued again--this time, by a kid and his mom.Wired is reporting that a North California complaint, filed by one Luz Sanchez and her son, centers on Joy-Con drift. Sanchez bought her then 8-year-old son a Nintendo Switch in December 2018, and he experienced issues with the Joy-Con controllers within a month of purchase. New controllers were bought within a year, as the problem progressed until the Joy-Cons were essentially inoperable; seven months later, the second set of controllers started to experience the same issue.Sanchez has filed the lawsuit alongside her son, who is listed as a minor in all documentation. The plantiffs are seeking over $5 million in damages from this lawsuit. In their suite, Sanchez's lawyers have argued that Nintendo "has had a financial motive to conceal the defect, as it did not want to stop selling the Products, and/or would need to expend a significant amount of money to cure the defect."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Throughout the Season of Arrivals in Destiny 2, players have slowly unraveled the secrets of the Darkness, the Tree of Silver Wings, and Savathun. After weeks of participating in the seasonal Contact public event, we've finally reached the end of that story--and you can finally complete the Season of Arrivals seal and earn your Forerunner title. With the October 6 weekly reset, Destiny 2 added both the Festival of the Lost and the final installment of the Means to an End quest that has been available weekly throughout the Season of Arrivals. Every time you complete that quest, you've unlocked a Pinnacle gear drop, as well as an entry into the Singular Exegete lore book. For the last few weeks, however, completing the quest hasn't offered new lore drops, and we've seen repeats of past battles. You'd still get your Pinnacle drop, but completing Means to an End hasn't advanced the story of the Season of Arrivals. That changed this week.Completing this week's quest gets you the final entry into Singular Exegete and changes up what you face when you venture to the Ascendant Realm during the quest's final mission, "Interference." Usually during that mission, fighting off the Taken on Io sends you to a section of the Ascendant Realm, where you battle the Envoys of Savathun and destroy a huge Shrieker. There have been three different locations to fight through, rotating each week--but this week's sends you to an Ascendant Throne that looks a lot like the final boss arena in the Crota's End raid from Destiny 1. There, you face Crota's exiled brother, Nokris, the final boss of the Strange Terrain Strike.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

October 6 marks the Early Access launch day of Baldur's Gate 3, which follows on from 2000's beloved Baldur's Gate II, and the game is off to a strong start. The new sequel, which was developed by Larian Studios (Divinity: Original Sin), is currently the best-selling game on both Steam and GOG. It's also available now on Stadia. At the time of writing, the game's highest concurrent player count on Steam has peaked at just over 70,000--extremely high for a full-priced Early Access game. The game's surprise release on Mac has likely driven early sales, too.Similar numbers are not available for the GOG and Stadia, but based on Steam alone it's fair to say that this has been a strong launch. As of right now, the early Steam user reviews are "very positive," too.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Free-to-play RPG Genshin Impact has mostly been discussed for its likeness to Nintendo's Zelda: Breath Of The Wild since it released in late September. Since then, players have discovered that the in-game chat censors "Hong Kong" and "Taiwan," leading to calls to boycott the game. Here is a clip I just recorded. Just in case if this changes for whatever reason here is recorded proof. The entire word "Kong" has been censored in Genshin Impact. pic.twitter.com/JCWjOEUBaf — Kazuma Hashimoto (@JusticeKazzy_) October 6, 2020As explained by games analyst Daniel Ahmad, who specializes in the Chinese market, Genshin Impact is published by MiHiYo, a developer based in Mainland China. This means it has to comply with a number of strict censorship rules set by China's national games regulator, including one that prohibits games from containing "anything that threatens China's national unity."People have asked me why this is:1. MiHoYo is a Mainland China based developer2. China's laws and games regulator state that games cannot contain "Anything that threatens China's national unity"3. All Chinese games censor phrases such as Taiwan / Hong Kong due to this https://t.co/QZ6PerqiTC — Daniel Ahmad (@ZhugeEX) October 6, 2020This goes for both games developed in China and games being released in China, which is why a majority of foreign-developed games never get an official Chinese release. According to Niko Partners, only 55 foreign-developed games had been approved for release this year in China, as of August.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

With next-gen consoles only a few weeks away, FIFA 21 feels like a swan song for the current generation of sports games. It ostensibly wraps up an era that was defined by the increasing prevalence of microtransactions and the game modes designed around them, and FIFA 21 is no different in this regard. Ultimate Team is still front and center as the main draw for many players, but this year's game is also the most robust version of FIFA in series history. Volta Football has been expanded after debuting last year, Career Mode has finally received some much-needed new additions, and there are even new ways to play Ultimate Team. None of this is revelatory--and that remains true on the pitch, where subtle attacking changes make for a more dynamic game of football--but each of these aspects sets FIFA up for the future while also ensuring that this year's game is still worth playing. The latest gameplay changes aren't immediately obvious when you step onto the pitch for the first time, mainly because FIFA 21 isn't trying to reinvent the wheel. Instead, new features in attack supplement the strong foundations of last year's game, with player responsiveness and passing also undergoing slight tweaks. There's an immediacy to everything you do that makes performing sweeping attacking moves a joy to execute. Passing has been sharpened up, with fewer instances of the ball missing your intended target. Through balls are also more effective when playing a runner in behind the defensive line, with well-timed and incisive passes managing to find the feet of onrushing attackers at a more consistent rate. Even heading has returned after its metaphorical absence in FIFA 20 on accord of how useless it was, with aerially strong players able to power crosses into the back of the net with increased frequency. These gameplay tweaks improve upon the core pillars of FIFA 21's on-pitch action, while marquee new features, such as Agile Dribbling, elevate its creativity and attacking dynamism. This new dribbling technique gives you greater control when faced with an eager defender by enhancing the speed and responsiveness of your player's footwork. It's designed to help you retain possession and create space in tight one-on-one situations, emulating the play of diminutive playmakers and fleet-footed wingers. Players who excel in these moments like Lionel Messi and Bernardo Silva are more adept at using Agile Dribbling than others, utilizing sharp changes of direction and a delicate touch to escape the clutches of aggressive defenders. It can be a powerful tool at the feet of the sport's best dribblers, but there's also a palpable learning curve that applies to using it successfully and consistently. Once you do get the hang of it, however, there are few better feelings in FIFA 21 than being able to lure an opponent in close before shifting the ball past their outstretched leg and exploding past their hapless frame into open space.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

As I played The Solitaire Conspiracy, I couldn’t help but wonder what other classics of tabletop gaming would benefit from the treatment that the solo card game receives here. Story-driven checkers? Chess with hero characters? Mancala with a leaderboard? The latest project from Bithell Games reimagines solitaire as a means of espionage. And while the FMV story that frames each hand is pretty predictable, the mechanical ramifications of this conceit make for a fantastic take on the traditional card game. You are an unwitting spy, kidnapped and put to work by Protega, an intel organization working outside the confines of any nation’s government. Protega is represented to you by Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller as Jim Ratio, your handler and constant companion throughout the campaign. Ratio tells you that you need to take down a mysterious figure called Solitaire, who has shut down Protega’s means of communication with their operatives out in the field. It’s your mission to regain control of this spy network.Your spy work plays out through games of solitaire. According to the credits, the versions of the game that The Solitaire Conspiracy takes inspiration from are Beleaguered Castle and Streets and Alleys. These variants are less popular than Klondike or Spider, to be sure, but they’re intuitive enough and easy to pick up. The board is made up of three columns, each with four rows. In the central column, you place the ace for each suit that’s currently in play, then build on it until you reach the King. You draw these cards from the outer columns, where the cards are dealt in piles. Unlike in some other popular solitaire variants, you can only move one card at a time, rather than picking up the furthest consecutive card in and moving the stack. But, you can move each card to any pile, regardless of suit, as long as the numeric value on the card is lower than the topmost card on the desired pile. These core rules are fairly simple, and will be easy to pick up for anyone who’s played a hand or two of solitaire before. But that simplicity provides a solid framework for Bithell Games to use as it builds out its unique, hero-based take on solitaire.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

When Nicki Broderick's father passed away during the pandemic, she didn't know what she was going to do. He had tested positive for COVID-19 so she couldn't see her mother to mourn because she had to quarantine for two weeks.I lost my dad yesterday. I'm in absolute shock. He was positive for COVID-19, but was getting better.I am utterly lost and heartbroken. pic.twitter.com/vF04MMIB9i — Nicki Broderick (@alaurei) April 1, 2020"I made a space on my island to visit him, since I can't visit my mom," she wrote in a tweet. She created a small place where she could grieve on her Animal Crossing: New Horizons island. It was something to help her cope during a pandemic that's made mourning more difficult than it already is.While memorials and funerals still happen during the pandemic, they are harder to plan and hold. The CDC says that virtual services are recommended as "many people have become sick with COVID-19 after attending a funeral service." Players have used past Animal Crossing games to build memorials, but memorials in New Horizons have become more prominent because of the pandemic.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
