The popular Disney ride Space Mountain is being adapted into a movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Writer Joby Harold, who is also behind Disney+'s upcoming 2020 Obi-Wan Kenobi series, has been hired to pen the script for the live-action adaptation and serve as producer.Joining Harold as producer is his wife Tory Tunnell (My Blind Brother) and Rideback Productions (The Lego Movie franchise, Aladdin). Details on the newly hatched project are still fairly barebones--there's no plot or casting information yet--but the movie is expected to have a theatrical rather than streaming release.Since first debuting at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in 1975 and Disneyland in 1977, Space Mountain has gone on to become practically synonymous with the parks themselves. The indoor roller coaster has riders blast off through a swirling solar field and throttle through many twists and turns--which should provide plenty of thrills and also serve as a good launching pad for big-screen fun. Square Enix has detailed when Final Fantasy XIV's next big content update will drop. During its latest Letter from the Producer broadcast, Square Enix confirmed that Patch 5.4, titled Futures Rewritten, will arrive in early December, and it'll introduce a wealth of additional content for the Shadowbringers expansion.Among other things, Patch 5.4 will add new main scenario quests. As Square Enix describes, "Following the grand conclusion of the Shadowbringers story in Patch 5.3, players will set out on a new adventure" in December's update. The patch will also introduce the third installment in the Eden raid series, as well as the next chapter in the Sorrow of Werlyt questline.Beyond that, Patch 5.4 will also bring the dreaded Emerald Weapon to Final Fantasy XIV. Players will be able to challenge it in both normal and extreme difficulties. There will also be a new dungeon, Matoya's Relict, which is going to be part of the new main story questline. Now that Lab Zero Games has essentially dissolved following controversy with game director Mike Zaimont, publisher 505 Games has confirmed that production has ended for Indivisible.At present, there is an update in submission for the Nintendo Switch that will add more challenges, a New Game+ mode, and couch co-op, bringing Indivisible on Nintendo Switch to the same developmental level as the other platforms. After this, 505 Games has no plans to introduce more content or updates for the game. This patch starts rolling out on October 13."At this stage, apart from content that is already in submission, there will unfortunately be no more production on [Indivisible]," 505 Games said in a development update post. Mosul, the military action movie produced by Joe and Anthony Russo, has found a home at Netflix, where it will release this November, according to a report from THR.Written and directed by Matthew Michael Carnahan, who co-wrote World War Z and 21 Bridges (also Russo-produced), the movie retells the real-world events as first described in The New Yorker's "The Desperate Battle to Destroy Isis." The story centers around a group of Iraqi police on the Nineveh SWAT team as they defend their Northern Iraq town.Mosul first premiered at Venice Film Festival in 2019, and then at the Toronto International Film Festival after that. Looks like the chapter on Amazon Games' Crucible is coming to a close. Developer Relentless Studios is shuttering the game after its short-lived lifespan of a few months."We'll be discontinuing development on Crucible," Relentless Studios wrote in a blog post. After a handful of delays, Baldur's Gate III finally launched in early access this week and quickly skyrocketed to the top of the best seller's list on Steam. Given that the game is still in development, players were quick to stumble across numerous bugs, some of which developer Larian Studios are squashing in a new patch.The first hotfix for Baldur's Gate III addresses four major crashes associated with entirely different in-game interactions, while also polishing up some other minor existing issues that players have reported. The studio mentions in the patch notes that players still experiencing performance issues should run the game using DirectX 11 instead of Vulkan, as some issues have been noted with the latter API.Larian Studios also thanks fans for the overwhelming support out of the gate and mentions that it is aware of several multiplayer issues currently. David Fincher (Seven, The Social Network) is one modern cinema's most acclaimed directors, and was one of the first filmmakers that Netflix brought on board when it started developing its own shows. After playing the opening hour of The Pathless, the next game from developer Giant Squid, what really struck a chord with me was how much it emphasized the importance of its setting. Like the developer's previous game, Abzu (an underwater narrative-adventure game), The Pathless focuses on communing with nature and freeing it from the grasp of an evil force. However, it incorporates that idea into an open-world framework, pushing the need to connect and explore its luscious setting.Coming to PC, iOS (and Apple Arcade), PS4, and to PS5 as a launch title on November 12, The Pathless has you guiding a nameless hunter across vast stretches of forest and within lost ruins to free ancient gods who have been corrupted. While I had the chance to play the first hour of the game, I also got to check out a quick presentation from creative director Matt Nava to learn more about the team's thoughts on making a more subdued, but still enticing adventure set in a large open landscape.Compared to the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Ghost of Tsushima, or Genshin Impact, The Pathless takes a more minimalist approach to its story and open-world gameplay. Taking cues from other pieces of fiction like Hayao Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke or the stories from Arthurian legend, The Pathless' main narrative is about the dichotomy of humanity and nature coming together.
