Dawson, Joey, Pacey, and the whole Dawson's Creek crew are heading to Netflix, and if you don't wanna wait, don't worry--the premiere is less than two weeks out. All 6 seasons and 128 episodes will hit Netflix on November 1, but they'll be missing one crucial thing: the theme song. When producer Sony licensed Paula Cole's "I Don't Want to Wait" for the show, they licensed it for broadcast only and didn't ante up for the rights to use it elsewhere.Dawson's Creek — one of television's most beloved coming-of-age stories — is coming to Netflix in The US on November 1...and before you ask, the episodes won't have the original theme song (sorry) pic.twitter.com/f07QkbdFJY — Netflix (@netflix) October 19, 2020Netflix is beholden to broadcast rights just like every other channel or streaming service, and they know what people are expecting from a show and decided to nip it in the bud in their tweet. Long-time fans of the show will know that the song didn't appear on home video releases, or on the show's current home at Hulu, so this is nothing new. But with Netflix's gigantic audience, many people will discover this travesty for the first time on November 11.Honestly, those of us tuning in to re-live the show, which aired from 1998 to 2003 on the WB network--now known as The CW--will probably miss the theme song exactly once. After that first episode, Netflix will shovel you into that endless Next Episode loop, and we'll be jumping into each episode right after the theme song.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Back to the Future co-writer Bob Gale has shared some new insight on the iconic film's original ending and opening scenes. The famous and memorable ending to Back to the Future, where Doc Brown makes a last-ditch effort to power up the clock tower to help Marty get back to the future, was almost completely different. Writer Bob Gale told Collider that he and writer-director Robert Zemeckis had originally wrote an ending that involved a refrigerator time machine and blowing up a city. And that's not all--Gale also revealed the original opening to Back to the Future did not involve Doc Brown's laboratory at all. Here is Gale talking about the original ending:“The idea [was] that the DeLorean was nuclear powered, literally they needed to harness nuclear energy to send the time machine back to the future. Bob [Zemeckis] and I had seen The Atomic Café documentary, a movie called The Atomic Kid which we pay homage to on the marquee of the town theater in 1955--one of the most perverse movies ever made… We were obsessed with the idea of, ‘Hey wouldn’t it be cool if we could recreate one of these towns and blow it up?’ So we wrote this elaborate sequence in and in the original version, the time machine was built into a refrigerator which was a time chamber. And that was where Marty was gonna be when the nuclear blast went off.”Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Lawbreakers, the first game from Gears of War director Cliff Bleszinski's Boss Key Productions, struggled to make an impact in the hero shooter market--so much so that the studio eventually closed, having only released one other game, the Early Access Radical Heights. Now Bleszinski, who retired from games and has been working in the world of theatre as a producer, is writing a book about his life--and it's leading to some reflection. In a Facebook post, Bleszinski says that as he works through the section of his book about forming his own studio, it's bringing up some feelings for him. "In spite of it being difficult, in a way, it's therapeutic," he says. "The first two years were a blast but the tail end was extremely difficult on everyone and I've had more than enough time to reflect on my time running that studio.""We should have started with a small, indie game FIRST before trying to make the shooter we ultimately did," he reflects, before digging into the specific issues Lawbreakers faced. Bleszinski has previously lamented how it was a mistake to release Lawbreakers on PS4 rather than Xbox One, which he reiterated in this post. "I already had a core base of fans on Xbox," he writes.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Back in 2010, developer Frictional Games set the tone for PC indie horror games with Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Focused heavily on story, it created its scares through an intensity of atmosphere and an emphasis on powerlessness. With Amnesia: Rebirth, it feels like Frictional has fully refined its particular approach to horror. You're trapped in a deadly, smothering world, struggling against your character's limitations and even her perceptions. Rebirth is Frictional's best game yet, marrying a deep, mysterious story to the signature mechanics the developer has been refining over the course of 13 years of horror games.Amnesia: Rebirth continues Frictional's specific approach to story and horror, which emphasizes avoiding conflict, hiding, and mastering your character's own fear. It also adds to the story told in The Dark Descent, although you don't need to know that game well to follow this narrative of this one. (The narrative doesn't link to Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, the 2013 follow-up to The Dark Descent.) You play Tasi Trianon, a French woman who joins a mining expedition to Algeria in 1937. In the opening moments of the game, the expedition's plane experiences some supernatural shenanigans that cause it to crash in the desert. Tasi wakes up soon after, alone in the plane, with few memories of what has happened and strange black tendrils creeping into her vision. As she goes searching for survivors, she discovers that the strange bracelet she wakes up wearing can open portals to a dark, ruined parallel world. Tasi goes searching through caves and tunnels for her friends, and the story often pulls her into the alternate dimension as she tries to find her way forward.Rebirth brings back the main mechanics from The Dark Descent, and really, all of Frictional's games deal in similar sets of ideas. You trace the survivors' path, gathering notes and uncovering clues as to what happened. As you explore the caves, you're quickly plunged into darkness, and as in The Dark Descent, the dark increases Tasi's fear and has palpable effects on her psyche. You're not dealing with a loss of sanity that changes how you perceive the world like in that game, however. Instead, Tasi's increasing fear causes the black tendrils to reappear and her heart to start pounding, and if she gets too afraid, the blackness overtakes her entirely, causing her to lose herself and wake up somewhere else with no memory of how she got there.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
