We were soaring towards Quarry alongside two other teams. I knew we'd have a better chance at taking them out if we landed together towards the back of the location--where we could loot before fighting. Our boots hit the ground and my two teammates, one picking up a molotov cocktail on the way there, ran towards the hum of the chest we could hear inside a nearby building."Holy crap! What the hell!?" one of my teammates spouted as he was greeted by a jump scare after opening the chest. He backtracked and threw the molotov cocktail, lighting our other teammate on fire. "Oh s*** man, I'm sorry."Call of Duty: Warzone's The Haunting of Verdansk event provides dozens of moments like this. The limited-time event that runs through November 3 brings back the same tension that first made battle royales a sensation in 2017. It turns Warzone upside down with creepy environmental changes, a haunted Easter egg hunt with numerous rewards, and two modes that are surprisingly terrifying.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Quibi is the little short-form mobile video streamer that could not, as it turns out. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that amid mounting problems, the service has opted to shut itself down. Thus ends a year full of high-flying expectations for the entertainment start-up that raised $1.75 billion in capital.Earlier in the year, Quibi was being hailed by founder Jeffrey Katzenberg--and many media outlets--as a revolutionary new combatant in the streaming wars, with its emphasis on short-form content specifically geared for mobile devices. But as Katzenberg explained in a call to investors, he was forced to shut down the business due to flagging viewer numbers, disappointing download numbers, and also an ongoing lawsuit from technology firm Eko over the ownership of the company's streaming technology. As recently as September, Quibi was reportedly exploring options to stay afloat by seeking an acquisition, but as the recent announcement signals, that did not pan out.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Fortnite is getting a Ghost Rider skin soon, according to data miners. Ghost Rider-related achievements, among other pieces of evidence, have been found within the game's files. Fortnite leaker Hypex tweeted about a new Ghost Rider achievement where players have to drive a vehicle as Ghost Rider.Fortnite's Season 4 is full of Marvel heroes. Iron Man, Wolverine, Thor, She-Hulk, Mystique, Storm, Groot, and Dr. Doom are available as part of the battle pass. Several of these heroes can also be found roaming the map during games, and you can kill them to gain their powers. Daredevil is currently in the item shop after being released as part of a special Marvel Knockout tournament.Ghost Rider, played by Nicolas Cage on the silver screen, could be added in a similar tournament. Epic said that there would be three more tournaments, including a grand finale on November 22, that would feature other heroes. We don't know who those heroes will be, though. We do know that data miners have also find evidence that Venom, the fan-favorite villain from Spider-Man, will also be coming to Fortnite.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

We're firmly entrenched in reboot culture, and even Warner Bros.' classic Animaniacs is getting in on the action with a new series set to hit Hulu in November. Thankfully, though, neither the Warner brothers (nor the Warner sister) are letting that go unnoticed in the first full trailer for the show.Animaniacs' original 99-episode run, which aired from 1993 to 1998, was one long roast where no topic was off limits as long as the writers and animators could get it past Standards and Practices. When Hulu announced the reboot back in 2018, we all braced ourselves for an empty husk of the show we remember. While we're not quite ready to say this new series lives up to its legacy, the first teaser was encouraging, and this trailer has us getting our hopes up.Yakko Warner and his siblings lampoon the very idea of a reboot before Pinky tries his hand at online dating, and the cast tries to come to grips with the 22 years they've missed out on since the show last aired. It's equal parts silly and insightful--just like we remember.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Phasmophobia, the early access horror game, has taken Twitch and social media by storm. For the uninitiated, Phasmophobia's goal is simple, though achieving it is a little tricky. You, either alone or with a group of friends, play a ghost hunter investigating a spooky, dimly-lit location and trying to determine which type of ghost is haunting the place. As you explore the area, you will need to use various tools to gather evidence before the ghost kills you and your friends.Aside from the ghosts, the most terrifying thing about Phasmophobia in its current state is the lackluster tutorial. It teaches you the basics for a few investigation tools, but it leaves a lot for you to figure out on your own. So to help you in your efforts to track down the whereabouts and identify apparitions, I've detailed below everything you need to know about tools available to you in Phasmophobia, as well as general tips to keep you alive. The ObjectiveYour job is to figure out what kind of ghost you're up against. To do that, you first need to identify which part of the building the ghost is haunting, and then you need to find three separate pieces of hard evidence to log in your journal. Once you've discovered three clues, you can identify the ghost in your journal and promptly get out. The evidence options are:Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has brought back Black Ops composer Jack Wall to do the music once again. Developer Treyarch has confirmed Wall's involvement in the game, and also released the main theme music, which is meant to reflect the '80s and the Cold War period.Wall told SPIN that he used a number of soft synth instruments to create a "dark, shadowy" feel that felt appropriate to the time period."I wanted to create something for the main menu that immediately said very clearly 'Cold War': Reagan, Brezhnev, Soviet choir," Wall said. "I wrote a distinctly 'of the era' Soviet-sounding theme, mixing Soviet choir and orchestra with dark synths. Making music and sounds from the '80s--[using instruments like] Moog Modular, Minimoog, and CS80, as well as other soft synths--to give it that dark, shadowy Black Ops feel in the time of larger-than-life Cold War political figures like Reagan and Brezhnev."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The undead shamble forward relentlessly, and so must AMC's The Walking Dead. The show recently resumed production, filming a set of bonus episodes to fill in the gap between seasons 10 and 11, and are taking measures to keep cast and crew alike from contracting COVID-19 (via EW)."We wear these little tracers in our clothes that will tell us how long we spend in proximity to one another," said Norman Reedus in an interview on SirusXM's EW Live. The crew isn't stopping there, though."There's tons of rules now," Reedus said. "Everybody's masked up or has shields on. I have a big scar on my face so that this mask doesn't work, so I wear the shield everybody else wears masks."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Among Us players are always on the lookout for impostors. Some take the game so seriously that they've started to role-play as security guards, watching over other players while they finish tasks and use the security cameras."You gotta love randoms," said Redditor Supermav27 about a random player who protected him as he monitored the in-game camera feeds. "This dude just guarded the doorway while I watched cameras the whole game."Among Us security guards Credit: supermav27A lot of players have started to take on security guard duties. They change their in-game name, buy the police officer skin, and then go to work. Sometimes they even ignore their duties when they're an impostor.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Founded by ex-Blizzard employees Tim Morten and Tim Campbell, Frost Giant is a new company devoted to revitalizing the real-time strategy genre. Their goal, as the company's Twitter bio states, is to make the next great PC real-time strategy game. Both Morten and Campbell have past experience in creating real-time strategy games. According to Gamesindustry.biz, Morten spent six years at Blizzard and was the production lead on Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void. Campbell worked at Blizzard in the early 2000s and was the campaign lead designer for the Warcraft 3 expansion The Frozen Throne. As pointed out by Alexander Lee for The Washington Post, RTS games have been comparatively overshadowed by the current era of first-person shooters, battle royale games, and multiplayer arena battles that dominate both esport circuits and public attention. RTS games established the very first esport competitions, and titles like StarCraft exploded into international popularity, especially in South Korea, in the late '90s to early 2000s. Even though RTS games still command a lot of attention in certain parts of the world, their popularity feels relatively static in growth.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Destiny 2's Festival of the Lost has been tweaked this year to dish out a lot of extra loot. A new system requires you to earn special keys to unlock additional treasure in the Haunted Forest, but since the Festival's start, the loot coming out of the Haunted Forest has been a bit lackluster, dropping at the lowest possible Power level of 750. Bungie rolled out a new update to correct the problem via the October 20 weekly reset.Hotfix 2.9.2.2 has extremely thin patch notes, making only two small but meaningful changes to the game. First, the patch alters the Haunted Forest loot that comes out of the caches you receive at the end of a run so that they'll drop loot at the proper levels. That should mean that legendary weapons and armor you earn from the activity will come out close to your Power level, all the way up to the Power cap of 1050. No more near-worthless 750 drops that you'll immediately delete--although if you're already over the 1050 cap, the loot still won't help you get any closer to the hard Power cap for the season of 1060.The update also makes another small tweak to the recently released Interference mission that caps off the story of the Season of Arrivals. Apparently, voiceover was missing during the Interference mission featuring the boss enemy Nokris for Guardians playing in Korean. Hotfix 2.9.2.2 replaces it, which should make the story make a little more sense for players trying to experience it in that language.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
