It had been a while since we've seen anything out of Team Meat about the upcoming Super Meat Boy sequel, Super Meat Boy Forever, but that's now changed. Lead developer Tommy Refenes recently streamed over 10 hours of gameplay from the game's current build, and it involves a lot of bloody deaths. The game, which we last covered in 2018, has been in the works ever since, and it's looking pretty good--and challenging. While Refenes points out some areas that are still too easy for his liking, including the first boss fight, in other sections he dies plenty. This aforementioned boss fight also shows off a cutscene featuring Meat Boy and Bandage Girl's kid, named Nugget. The kid is cute, as far as lumps of meat go.You can watch the game in action below. This stream is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the original game's release on Xbox 360. It was originally announced that Super Meat Boy Forever would arrive first on Switch, but the press release sent to GameSpot just says that the game will come to Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC "when it's ready."Thanks to a semi-random generation system, Super Meat Boy contains thousands of levels--but which ones you face will change each time you play. This means that no two playthroughs will be the same, and it's expected that players can run through the entire campaign several times before encountering a new one. Info from Gamespot.com

Making Marvel comics move, whether it's for movies or television, is big business these days, and that means it's attracting some pretty big names. Lena Headey and Luke Wilson are the newest names attached to the upcoming Marvel animated series, New-Gen.New-Gen is part of the Marvel comics book universe, but it's a far trip from the places occupied by Captain America, Spider-Man, and even Thor. The story starts in another dimension where nanotech controls everything from buildings to the weather. Deadalus, the apprentice of a scientist named Dr. Gabriel, tries to use the nanotechnology to become more powerful, and accidentally infects a bunch of kids with it in the process, turning them into super-powered but apparently non-human creatures. Gabriel tries to train the infected kids and sends his infant sons back in time to modern-day New York City, while Dr. Deadalus finds he can control robotic insects with his mind and make them burrow into other dimensions. We can only hope the show gets this weird.Headey (Game of Thrones) is set to play Dr. Gabriel's wife, Thea; Wilson (Stargirl, Idiocracy, Old School) will play Roboduck. Also cast are Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) and his brother Nick as the twin brothers, and Anya Charlotra (The Witcher) in an un-named role.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

If an actor has ever starred in a Marvel, DC, or Star Wars film, it's only a matter of time before people start asking when they'll play that character again. Liam Neeson has played countless memorable roles over the years, but for many, he's Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn before he's Ra's Al Ghul, Rob Roy, or the guy in Taken. But Disney hasn't yet approached Neeson about reprising the role, the actor said in an interview with Collider.Neeson said that while he's done the voice of Jinn a few times since filming Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, there hasn't yet been any talk of donning the Jedi robes again."On film, I haven't been approached, no," Neeson said. "I haven't really been following them, to be honest. I don’t know if they've come to an end. I heard they did a film of Harrison [Ford]'s character, Han Solo, and that there was a bit of trouble with that. What do you think? Are Star Wars fans finished with it? Neeson did acknowledge, though, that Disney+ opens up new possibilities for something like this.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Spellbreak has received a major new update, adding the game's first new mode and a prologue chapter to the free-to-play magic-based battle royale. The Prologue: The Gathering Storm update is now available on PC, Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.The new mode is called Clash, and it's a 9-on-9 team deathmatch mode where each team is simply aiming for the highest kill count. It's described as "low on stress, but high on fun", with a heavy combat focus. Each side has three squads of three players, and you can still gather gear and level up skills across a match as you can in Battle Royale. The circle is still present, and it will lead players around the map to keep the battle tight, while also ensuring that players are funneled into areas that suit this sort of gameplay. Upon being defeated and "exiled," players will get to keep their gear and levels, but will also drop equipment that can be looted by the other team (or their own team members, if they manage to finish off whoever took you down).Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Microsoft has confirmed that it has no plans to release a dedicated optimization update for Halo 5: Guardians on Xbox Series X/S as it's doing for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. While there won't be the same 120fps/4K optimizations for Halo 5 on the next-gen consoles, Halo 5 will enjoy faster load times and higher resolutions overall thanks to the power of the new machines."While Halo 5 is not getting the same optimizations for Xbox Series X and Series S as MCC, owners of the next-gen hardware are still going to see the benefits of faster load times and consistently higher resolution gameplay," Microsoft said in a blog post. "We're excited for you all to jump on and give it a go with that extra power!"Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Developer Crispy Creative has released a new trailer for its first new IP, A Long Journey to an Uncertain End. Composed of a team that features former Obsidian and Telltale developers, Crispy Creative seems to be leaning into its strengths with this first title--A Long Journey to an Uncertain End is a story-driven space opera with management simulator elements. In A Long Journey, you're a sentient spaceship, making you both the captain and the primary means of transportation for your crew. You're on the run, trying to remain one step ahead of the abusive ex that's trying to track you down. To do that, you'll need money, which means travelling around the galaxy to complete odd jobs.As seen in the announcement trailer for A Long Journey, embedded above, taking a job doesn't guarantee success. You recruit your crew, each of whom brings their own distinct personality and set of skills to the table. But that means that when it's time for a job, you have to try and pick the most suitable folks for the task with who you have available. If things don't pan out, you'll have to rely on favors you've established or simply book it to the next gig. Regardless, your actions have consequences--even your crew can be affected by your decisions.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Serious Sam 4 developer Croteam has worked with publisher Devolver Digital so many times, they've decided to make their relationship official. That's the vibe, at least, in Devolver's announcement that the company has acquired Croteam, ensuring that they'll continue releasing games together in the future. "Devolver has acquired Croteam...or maybe Croteam has acquired Devolver...who could really know at this point in the relationship," the announcement reads (for the record, it's definitely the first one). "What’s certain is that our future together is ultra exciting with new projects like The Talos Principle 2, more Serious Sam games, and original IP from Croteam and the Croteam Incubator studios."This also serves as a soft confirmation that there'll be more Serious Sam games before 4, although this was never really in doubt. The game released in September for PC and Stadia, and received a 7/10 in GameSpot's review. The studio's next game will likely be The Talos Principle 2, first announced in 2016. Croteam previously told PC Gamer that the game is currently in the works, and that it will be the studio's focus now that Serious Sam 4 is available.Info from Gamespot.com

There are times in life where it feels like no matter what you do, something is waiting to ruin your day. Obstacles that come from all directions, trying to take you down when you're just trying your best to make it to the next day. Perhaps they're big, foreboding, and scary. Maybe there are lots of little things that can harm you just as easily. Something might seemingly come out of nowhere and just wreck your entire being. That's the vibe of the year 2020 Disc Room, a ball of anxious energy in the form of a 2D action game. But as nerve-racking as that sounds, Disc Room is also a game that will eventually encourage you to come to terms with frequent failure, learning instead to cherish the small successes that help you push forward.A giant disc-shaped object has appeared over Jupiter, or so Disc Room's introductory text tells you, and as a charming little space person your goal is to explore what is revealed to be a labyrinth filled with numerous deadly rooms. Each room houses a unique trial involving copious spinning buzzsaws threatening to cut right through you, something that will happen more times than you'll be able to keep track of.It's a twitch-action game that focuses solely on the most heart-pounding element of bullet-hell shoot-em-up games: trying to avoid a ridiculous number of projectiles. Disc Room is concentrated on difficulty and pushing you into panicked situations, featuring a creative variety of aggressive enemy discs. Each exhibits particular behaviors, but none follow a predetermined course, making even the relatively simple stages dangerously unpredictable and challenging every time. Disc Room's reality is one where you're trapped in a room with over a dozen bouncing, fatal blades, where dark electro thumps non-stop, and where death can occur in less than a second.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Ebb Software's Scorn, a dark and grotesque horror-adventure game set within a bio-mechanical labyrinth, has been many years in the making. First revealed in 2016, Scorn is a narrative-driven FPS that blends Bioshock's grotesque body-horror and action gameplay with the bizarre and nightmarish imagery from H.R. Giger's work on the Alien franchise. Scorn will be making its debut on PC and for the Xbox Series X|S as a next-gen console exclusive, with a planned release set for sometime in 2021. Ebb Software has now revealed more of what's to come with the game, showcasing a near-final look at the horror game.Ahead of the Xbox Series X|S's debut on November 10, GameSpot has exclusive gameplay showing off nearly 14 minutes of the game's grotesque environments that players will be able to explore, along with the many organic weapons that can be found within. This gameplay, running on the Xbox Series X, shows a lot of the game's mood and dark horrors that await. In a similar vein to Bioshock, Scorn drops players into a strange environment filled with hostile enemies and a peculiar atmosphere that hints that something has gone wrong. Scorn takes this approach a bit further by focusing on a setting that feels totally alien and unnatural, which gives it something of an alluring, yet still unsettling vibe. To survive, you'll have to embrace some of the more grotesque and bizarre elements found within the bio-mechanical hellscape.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S are scheduled to release soon, and a big part of deciding whether to go with Sony or Microsoft (or both) in the next console generation is dependent on the games that you'll be able to play. To that end, we've compiled a list of all of the projects being worked on by both the Xbox Game Studios and Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios so you know what's in store for both their platforms. To clarify, this list does not include all of the console exclusives coming to Xbox Series X/S and PS5. For example, we don't talk about Bloober Team's The Medium and Ebb Software's Scorn for Xbox Series X/S, nor do we touch on Housemarque's Returnal and Counterplay Games' Godfall for PS5 because Microsoft and Sony do not own those developers. Though given the two's commitment to expanding their studio lineups--most recently, Sony with Insomniac Games and Microsoft with ZeniMax Media (Bethesda Softworks' parent company)--who knows if that will hold true by the time this next console generation is done.If you want to know what you'll be able to play day one, we've compiled lists of every launch game for Xbox Series X/S as well as every launch game for PS5. And be sure to stay glued to our Generation Next hub for all the news, hands-on impressions, and spec breakdowns for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 and their corresponding accessories. We have guides for preordering Xbox Series X/S and preordering PlayStation 5 as well.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
