Microsoft's next-generation strategy is not traditional. Microsoft kinda doesn't care if you even buy a new Xbox Series X or S console because the company also releases its games on PC and mobile, while it also has Xbox customers on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has now shared some additional insight on this unique strategy.Speaking to GameReactor, Spencer said Microsoft wants to create Xbox customers, and that doesn't necessarily mean on a dedicated gaming console."Our high-level goal inside of our team, of how we measure ourselves, is how many people are playing on Xbox," Spencer said. "And when we say 'playing on Xbox' it doesn't mean an Xbox console. It means somebody who is logging in and playing a part of our ecosystem, whether first-party or third-party. And it could be on an Android phone. It could be on a Switch. It could be on a PC. That's how we think about it."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Ghostrunner's intense first-person parkour platforming demands perfection. Whether you're clearing out a neon cityscape of cyberpunk goons or racing on walls and sliding through vents of a gigantic factory, even a small miscalculation will get you killed. Your jumps need to be precise. Every swing of your sword should be deadly. Anything less isn't up to robot ninja spec. Ghostrunner is quick to punish, but it's also more than willing to reward players who rise to its challenge. Bouncing from wall to wall feels like flying. Running circles around gunmen, dodging bullets, and cutting them down without a scratch is exhilarating. It's a high-risk, high-reward situation: Struggling with failure after failure, even on simple tasks, is incredibly frustrating early on, but that anger eventually dissipates as your skill grows to reveal a thrilling test of your abilities.Set in a cyberpunk-style post-apocalyptic world, Ghostrunner puts you in control of a robot ninja assassin on a mission to kill his world's authoritarian ruler. (She also nearly killed him a while back, so it's a twofer! Revolution and revenge.) There's a twisty, turny plot, but it's often very detached from what you're actually playing, as it's told almost exclusively through voiceover.Ghostrunner adheres quite closely to tenets of cyberpunk's visual aesthetic. You run through dirty dilapidated cities with dark corners, contrasted with neon signs and bright screens lighting up the night. Some of the enemies you face are literal cyborg punks. Don't worry; there are also plenty of robots. There have been enough cyberpunk stories in games that this look isn't especially fresh, but that doesn't stop it from looking cool. It helps that, on a technical level, Ghostrunner looks very sharp. The environments, enemies, and your sword, which is always sticking out in front of you, are all incredibly detailed. It may not be the most creatively constructed, but it is appealing all the same.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

That's about to change, though.Starting in November, a portion of Disney California Adventure will open to the public. That doesn't mean you should get ready to ride the rides, though. The Buena Vista Street section of the park, made up of dining options and stores, are going to be open for business, according to the official Disney Parks blog. While the shopping will be indoors, the seating for dining will be in expanded outdoor seating areas. Among the eateries opening are the Carthay Circle Lounge, complete with a new food and cocktail menu. For shopping, a number of gift shops will be open along the Buena Vista Street section, offering a ridiculous amount of Disney-branded items for you to take home.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

If you have an Oculus VR headset and were thinking about deleting your Facebook account in order to go off the social media grid, you may want to reconsider. If you completely delete the Facebook account linked to your Oculus device, you will also lose access to all VR games you purchased. You won't be able to get them back if you make a new account, either. You're required to link a Facebook account when using the Oculus Quest 2 headset, and if your Facebook account isn't in good standing, you will not be able to use the Quest 2 at all. Because of this connection, you must keep that account to have access to the purchases you've made. You don't necessarily have to link a Facebook account yet on the older Oculus devices, including the first Quest, but as UploadVR pointed out, support for separate Oculus accounts ends in 2023 and then all users will need Facebook. If you deactivate your Facebook account instead of permanently deleting it, you also won't be able to access any of your Oculus information. However, this can be reversed by reactivating it, while the deletion method does not have an "undo." If you make a new account, you'll have to purchase all that content again.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Arcades have changed dramatically over the last few decades, both in their prevalence and the games within, but their existence goes back much further than that. In the documentary series Arcade Dreams, which is currently raising funds on Kickstarter, Rock Steady Media aims to show how the industry evolved from simple mechanical amusements to advanced video games and VR."Starting with the mechanical penny arcades of the early 1900s, the documentary series chronicles the evolution of arcade gaming from mechanical marvels through to classic cabinets, crazy rides, and the ultra-immersive VR experiences of today," the creators said in a press release.Though not expected until 2022, director Zach Weddington and his team have already captured hundreds of hours of footage spanning several decades of arcade games, and the series will feature interviews with arcade legends like Gary Stern of Stern Pinball and Eugene Jarvis. Jarvis practically invented the twin-stick shooter with classics like Robotron 2084 and Smash TV. His company Raw Thrills is also responsible for countless modern arcade cabinets.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

One of the legends you're tasked with investigating in Pokemon Sword and Shield's Crown Tundra DLC revolves around a brand-new Legendary Pokemon named Calyrex. In ages past, Calyrex was worshipped by the denizens of the Crown Tundra as a king. Over time, however, people's belief in the Pokemon faded, and its powers waned in turn. It falls to you to help restore Calyrex's power, and one of the ways to do that is by reuniting it with its steed. Crown Tundra spoilers follow.Shortly after you meet Calyrex, the Legendary Pokemon asks for your help in locating its loyal steed. As it turns out, this steed is one of two alternate Legendary horse Pokemon: the Ice type Glastrier or the Ghost type Spectrier. Much in the way you could choose which Urshifu your Kubfu evolves into in the Isle of Armor expansion, which steed Calyrex rides is entirely up to you. However, you can only choose one of them, and your choice is permanent, so you'll need to think carefully before you make your decision. How To Choose A SteedAfter you complete the introductory Dynamax Adventure and earn Dynite Ore, you'll be able to purchase a bag of carrot seeds from the farmer in Freezington, the small village located near the Crown Tundra station. These seeds can be used to grow either an Iceroot Carrot or a Shaderoot Carrot, which in turn will determine which of the two steeds you summon.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Pokemon Sword and Shield's Crown Tundra DLC sends you on an expedition around the titular arctic region to investigate a number of Pokemon legends, including one revolving around the Legendary giants Registeel, Regirock, and Regice. You'll need to catch all three of them before you can encounter the DLC's two new Regis, Regieleki and Regidrago, but they're all sealed away in shrines scattered around the Crown Tundra. Here's what you'll need to do to enter the shrines and catch the Regis. How To Get RegisteelThe first shrine you'll likely come across houses Registeel. The Steel type's shrine is located in the Giant's Bed just outside of Freezington, making it hard to miss. Before you can enter the shrine, you'll need to open the door by cracking the following riddle: "Let ring the piercing note that will wake the giant of steel." Although this hint is quite vague, all you need to do to open the door is whistle by pressing the left stick in. Note that you can't be riding your bike when you attempt to open the door, as pressing the stick in that situation will cause you to ring its bell rather than whistle, which won't work.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The newest James Bond film, No Time To Die, has been finished and ready to go for months now, but MGM has delayed it numerous times due to COVID-19. A report from Bloomberg stated that MGM pitched the streaming rights to Netflix, Apple, and Amazon, but so far, no deal has been reached, and it sounds like that may never happen.Separately, Variety reported that MGM offered a one-year license for No Time To Die for $600 million. Additionally, MGM is said to have considered releasing the movie on its own through a paid video-on-demand option, similar to how Disney handled Mulan. However, Deadline reported that neither Netflix, Apple, nor Amazon came back to the table with even half of the reported $600 million one-year license fee. Additionally, the site reported that 007 series producer Barbara Broccoli "flatly nixed the deal." Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

One of the big selling points of Sony's PlayStation 5 has been the ultra-fast loading from the system's SSD, which means that games will load extremely fast. However, some new patches for old games have shown that incredibly fast load times are now possible in some PS4 titles, too--even without an SSD.VGC has reported that several older Sony titles have received updates recently, likely to prepare them for backwards compatibility, and at least one of them seems to have drastically cut down its load times in the process. In the video below from ElAnalistaDeBits, you can see a before-and-after comparison of The Last Of Us Remastered loading on PS4, before and after the patch. It shows that the initial 90-second load has now been cut down to just under 14 seconds.
