Twin Mirror takes a lot from the episodic Life is Strange games, which are mostly about communication, developing characters, and making choices in dialogue and actions that can influence a branching narrative. Dontnod has had a lot of success telling deep, character-driven stories with those games, and Twin Mirror is a clear outgrowth of that success.In the opening of Twin Mirror, Sam returns to Basswood for the funeral of his best friend, Nick. With a jaunt to an old lookout point, the game quickly puts Sam's return and the baggage he's brought with him into context. Naturally, Sam can't wait to bail on this formerly closed chapter of his life. Reminiscing about Nick, Anna, and Basswood triggers one of the major mechanics in Twin Mirror: the Mind Palace. In a final blow to the future of Friday the 13th on PS4, PC, and Xbox One, developer IllFonic has announced that dedicated servers will be shut down in this month's patch, which will see the game revert back to peer to peer matchmaking for quick play lobbies. Database servers will stay active so that all player progression and unlocks can still be accessed in quick play and private matches.The final patch will complete fixes on a long list of issues raised by the game's community, IllFonic explained in a forum post. Finalized patch notes will be released in the week prior to the patch going live.Official forums will be archived in a locked state while official channels game will be kept to a more "minimal approach" on social media platforms. Publisher Ziggurat Interactive has announced that it will release upscaled, enhanced versions of the hack-and-slash action games BloodRayne and BloodRayne 2 for PC on November 20.These ports, titled BloodRayne: Terminal Cut and BloodRayne 2: Terminal Cut, will be free for all owners of the original titles on PC via digital distributors GOG and Steam. It's unclear how much the Terminal Cuts of the BloodRayne action games will cost on their own.The games will be optimized for newer hardware, targeting up to 4K resolution and improved rendering with anti-aliasing functionality. The MMO developer announced recently that it has put the Steam release of Guild Wars 2 on hold to focus on the game's upcoming expansion, End of Dragons. Currently, you must download ArenaNet's own client to play Guild Wars 2, which is a free-to-play game.In the post announcing the Steam delay, ArenaNet also indicated that it is working on the finale to The Icebrood Saga, the fifth season of the MMO's Living World events. That final chapter is called The Icebrood Saga: Champions, and ArenaNet will reveal the trailer for it on November 5.ArenaNet previously announced Guild Wars 2's third expansion, End of Dragons, back in August. Despite its name, it's been confirmed by ArenaNet that End of Dragons will not conclude Guild Wars 2's storyline. It is currently scheduled to launch in 2021. November is officially underway, and there's a lot happening in Pokemon Go this month. On top of all the November events developer Niantic has planned for the next few weeks, a new batch of Field Research tasks is now live in the game, giving you a chance to earn new rewards and encounter new kinds of Pokemon.Unlike Special Research tasks, which are assigned by Professor Willow as part of his investigations into different Pokemon phenomena, Field Research tasks are typically distributed through PokeStops. You'll receive one of the tasks at random when you spin the Photo Disc, and the first you complete each day will net you a stamp. Once you've collected seven stamps, you'll achieve a Research Breakthrough, netting you additional rewards and an encounter with a special Pokemon.Niantic typically offers a different Research Breakthrough reward every month, and that's once again the case this month. The launch of the PlayStation 5 is just a week away, and Sony is still detailing some of the tune-ups it's giving its first-party PS4 library in preparation for the next generation. The apocalyptic game Days Gone is getting a couple of performance enhancements, as detailed by Sony Bend.In a tweet, the studio announced that Days Gone on PS5 will sport up to 60FPS with dynamic 4K resolution, and your saves will transfer from the PS4 to PS5 version. That way you can keep your progress or start a New Game+ on your shiny new hardware. The tweet isn't clear if these enhancements are coming from the PS5 hardware boost or the most recent update.Days Gone is bound to find a new audience, too, as it's part of the PS Plus Collection on PS5. Valorant's latest update is now live following a week-long delay, but the update 1.11 patch notes failed to mention a few key changes made to Breach, the flash-heavy Initiator-class agent. A player noticed and reported one of the changes on Reddit, concerned that it was a bug. Valorant developer u/rycoux responded, listing out the full range of adjustments and admitting that the changes "must have slipped through the cracks" when finalizing the patch notes.According to the developer, Breach's Fault Line now charges 20% faster and both Fault Line and Rolling Thunder cast 8m away from him. This does not affect the maximum range of either ability, but it does leave a wide gap between Breach and the start of the ability, which you can see in this clip captured by Reddit user u/oDavideo or in our screenshot below. Previously, these abilities would cast immediately in front of you. Breach's full flash time has also been increased from 1.75 to 2, but this was mentioned in the patch notes.The new 8m gap generated by Breach's Fault Line ability.When asked about the point of the changes, u/rycoux noted, "These are quality of life changes that help his teammates play around his utility a little easier." Resident Evil Village--the follow-up to the much-acclaimed Resident Evil 7--still doesn't have a firm release date, but we do have some new details on the game from its new PlayStation Store page. Village will support many of the PlayStation 5's new features, particularly its native solid-state drive for fast load times and the adaptive triggers on the DualSense controller.The page reiterates several aspects of Village that we already knew: That it stars Ethan Winters, the protagonist of Resident Evil 7, and is set a few years after Ethan and his wife Mia escaped from the horrors of the bayou. It also notes that Village will support 4K with HDR and ray tracing, as well as the PS5's Tempest 3D AudioTech, which will likely serve to enhance the horror atmosphere of the game. As mentioned above, the PS5's solid-state drive will apparently remove much in the way of loading screens too.Perennial RE favorite Chris Redfield will also make an appearance in Village, just like in Resident Evil 7. Capcom is releasing Devil May Cry V: Special Edition to coincide with the launch of the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S featuring additional content, new gameplay modes, and, more prominently, advanced visual features. Ray tracing is one of the big enhancements the special edition is introducing, and it has a dramatic effect on the game's lighting and reflections.Ray tracing can be used in various ways, with Devil May Cry V implementing it to convey reflections from objects off-screen. This is one of the most frequent uses of the technology, which improves on traditional reflections that must rely on information that is currently on screen. On rain-soaked streets in avenues lit up with neon advertising, the whole scene and its lighting are changed by the reflections on the floor, which you can see in the gameplay below.Lighting is another facet where ray tracing can be used, accurately calculating light bounces and color shifts on the world around you. In the example above, the red hues of the curtains near a window bathe the surrounding area in a tapering red light, where the original title featured none of the ambience. Fortnite's 14.50 update puts Halloween in the rear-view mirror as the battle royale heads into the home stretch of Season 4. Regular playlists, including Marvel Knockout, have returned alongside a number of cosmetic changes and a new item.Stark Jetpacks, a new item that helps you fly for a short time, have been added to the game. It's the first time jetpacks have been added back to the battle royale in two years.
