Two months after Tenet's release, director Christopher Nolan is "thrilled" with the coronavirus-imperiled sci-fi movie's global revenue of $350 million. Speaking with the Los Angeles Times, the director also added that he's "worried that the studios are drawing the wrong conclusions from our release."Fans who were looking forward to Tenet being a 2020 summer blockbuster watched as the film was beset with increasingly concerning delays--including a stretch in July when it was pushed back indefinitely. When it finally was released internationally in late August, and then hit the states in early September, the film had effectively faded into the background in a year filled with a global pandemic, a presidential election, and the overall confusing and unpredictable path films now face in order to release. Tenet held firm in being a theatrical experience first, but Nolan says that stance has influenced studios and distributors looking for lessons to learn from the film's performance."Rather than looking at where the film has worked well and how that can provide them with much needed revenue," said Nolan. "They're looking at where the film has worked well and how that can provide them with much needed revenue, they’re looking at where it hasn't lived up to pre-COVID expectations."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

EA Motive, the studio behind the recently released Star Wars: Squadrons, has confirmed it has multiple projects in the works, but they are not Star Wars games. A job listing spotted by GamesRadar mentioned specifically that EA Motive was hiring for an upcoming "Star Wars action game." However, the job listing apparently contained an error, and this project is not related to Star Wars.EA Motive said on Twitter that "human error" was involved in the mistake. "Due to human error (hey, it happens!) we’ve seen a lot of speculation. While we're not working on a new Star Wars project, we are working on something pretty special," the studio said.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Fans of the Happy Death Day movies continue to hold out hope of a third film to close out the trilogy--and producer Jason Blum has already told GameSpot he views the project as something that he has to make. What's the status of the film at the moment, though? To find out the answer to that, we went right to the source. While speaking to director Chris Landon about his newest movie, Freaky, we couldn't help but ask if a third Happy Death Day movie will be announced soon. "I don't think soon is a real distinct possibility right now," he said. "But luckily, the idea that I have for the third movie doesn't rely on it being right the second, which is a good thing."As for what that idea is, Landon wasn't ready to share any details. However, when asked how the film would compare to Happy Death Day 2U, which made a pretty hard turn away from classic slasher into the realm of sci-fi, the director teased a bit of what to expect. "The third one was going in a completely other weird direction that I thought was unexpected and also super fun," he said.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

After working on the soundtracks for mega-franchises like Grand Theft Auto, Killzone, Total War, and Splinter Cell, composer Walter Mair was brought on to write new music for Activision's Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time. The music in Crash 4 does a good job at staying true to the origins of the franchise--you'll hear lots of marimbas and percussion instruments--while updating the music for a more modern feel. We recently spoke with Mair about this an a number of other topics about Crash 4's music. In our interview, Mair speaks about how he became attached to Crash 4 in the first place, how much access he had to the development team and what the collaboration process was like with Toys For Bob, and the varied instrumentation he used to score the game.Mair composed unique music for each setting and character, and he went to some interesting places to nail down the right sounds for each. For Dingodile, Mair used a clumsily played tuba and double bass to describe the character, while Mair used electric guitars and bass guitars through massive stacks of guitar amps and a drum set to create the music for the N.Gin boss fight.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

While Halo Infinite has been delayed to 2021, developer 343 Industries is filling the time with a special behind-the-scenes look at how sound of the game's sounds were recorded. In this newest video, we get a closer look at how the audio team captured the "small arms" weapon sounds for Halo Infinite, and it's very impressive. The team recorded in all manner of locations and situations, using weaponry that runs the gamut from hand-held slingshots to long rifles. There is an exciting sequence in the middle where a developer hunkers down behind a wall as bullets whizz overhead. The Halo series is known for its strong audio design, and this video seems to demonstrate how that should continue with Halo Infinite. Check out the video above, but note that some of the scenes in the video were published on Instagram earlier in 2020 and back in 2019.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

A new patch is coming to NHL 21 on November 5, and it's a big one. The newest update for PS4 and Xbox One makes a series of changes to gameplay, physics, goalies, and AI, while it also makes many improvements to various modes such as Be A Pro, Hut Rush, and World of Chel. The AI changes will make the computer-controlled skaters more skilled with things like improved weak side defender coverage when in front of the net and better defensive positioning when defending a rush. As for the general gameplay changes, players should expect to have a tougher time scoring goals when shots are taken from "non-ideal" locations. Additionally, puck pickup animations are now better around the net, while instances where tall players struggled to pick the puck up have been addressed. In terms of the presentation, the center ice layouts for the Arizona Coyotes, Calgary Flames, and Ottawa Senators has been updated, while a series of new uniforms are now available covering teams in the NHL, as well as various international leagues.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Spelunky 2 has had another update, and it's made some big changes that will make some parts of the game a little easier, and others, perhaps, a little harder. Patch 1.15.0 is now available on Steam and PS4. The biggest changes have been applied to the Olmec boss fight, although whether they help you beat the fight or not will depend on how you usually fight it.The Olmec boss fight has been tweaked so that the boss will now only throw bombs at a player when they are below him. This means that bombs are only thrown when they might do some damage, which could make it harder to take Olmec down. However, the floaters sent out by the boss have had their HP reduced down to 1HP, so they'll be easier to take down now. Layer doors have also been added on the right in Olmec's level. The patch contains a long list of fixes and changes, too. The physics are now a bit more forgiving and less likely to crush players, and players will find that grabbing something in a hurry is now more responsive. Some other changes target exploits, like spamming the attack while climbing. Here's the full list of changes and tweaks introduced in this update.Spelunky 2 Patch 1.15.0 NotesOlmec will now throw bombs After the conclusion of the series' previous anthology with Yakuza 6, there were big Kiryu-sized shoes to fill. As our new protagonist Kasuga Ichiban steps into the spotlight for Yakuza: Like a Dragon, developer RGG Studio proves it can still capture its signature blend of gripping melodrama and absurdist humor while creating something genuinely fresh for the long-running franchise. The reinvention isn't just in the transition from action-brawler to turn-based combat, which is a great take on traditional RPG battles. It's that the party dynamic in Like a Dragon enables a new kind of storytelling that the series hasn't explored before, one that focuses on the power of embracing friendship and fighting together every step of the way.Like a Dragon starts anew, providing an entry point for those who have never played a Yakuza game before. But it wouldn't be a proper series entry without the core tenets that define Yakuza--things like captivating exposition-heavy cutscenes, exciting over-the-top fights, and a wealth of side activities that flood the streets of a lifelike Japanese city. In true Yakuza fashion, the tangled web of alliances, betrayals, secrets, and shifts in power across different organizations serve as the foundation for much of its character-driven story. And it's as sweet as ever here.Kasuga, Number OneIchiban has a familiar background: born from nothing, scraping by in Kamurocho until a father figure with yakuza ties digs him out of serious trouble. Ichiban's life revolves around that man, Masumi Arakawa, and he eventually follows in his footsteps by pledging himself to the Tojo Clan. Much of what propels Like a Dragon is the connection these two share--from Ichiban taking the fall for a family crime to uncovering why he'd been left for dead in another city after his 18-year prison sentence. Things change in time, and that good-natured kid who grew up loving Dragon Quest (literally in-lore) and doing harmless errands for the gang now has a lot to learn about the criminal underworld as he re-enters society.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Sony's next-gen console will arrive with a completely new controller, retiring the DualShock branding for the more advanced DualSense input device. Not just a bigger controller with a new ergonomic design that will come with the PlayStation 5, the DualSense's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers have also become big talking points.YouTuber TronicsFix got his hands on one of the controllers and pried it open to see not just how much technology Sony had managed to fit inside of it. He said he wanted to gauge how easily a broken DualSense would be to repair, but he also took a closer look at the variable triggers.Compared to the DualShock 4, the DualSense is a far more advanced controller and the triggers alone showcase a design that uses more sophisticated technology to deliver haptic feedback. A spiral gear is used to change the resistance on the adaptive trigger, allowing for games such as Deathloop to simulate a gun being jammed or the feeling of drawing a bow to shoot an arrow. The entire assembly makes use of a modular design, allowing for parts to be more easily replaced should they be broken.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is coming next week, right alongside the launch of the PlayStation 5. That means early copies are going out as well, and Insomniac has warned that raises the risk of spoilers circulating online.Community director James Stevenson issued the warning on Twitter, suggesting that spoilers could come in the form of story details or even just unlockable suits. In the replies, he also said that copies are currently moving around the world, from warehouses to stores, in preparation for the November 12 global release date.Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a spin-off from the 2018 Marvel's Spider-Man from Insomniac, and takes place after the conclusion of that game's story and its DLC. It stars Miles Morales instead of Peter Parker, who received his own superpowers in the course of that game. While it features a different hero behind the mask, the story could have major implications for Insomniac's Spider-man universe.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
