Sackboy: A Big Adventure is a major PS5 launch game, but one feature will be missing when it releases alongside the system on November 12. Ned Waterhouse, a design director at developer Sumo Digital, has revealed in a post on PlayStation Blog that the game will launch with couch co-op, but you'll have to wait to play it online with friends. The game, which is coming to PS4 as well, will feature 2-4 player co-op throughout the entire campaign, as well as some co-op only levels. From day one, you'll be able to play through these on a single system. This update is promised "by end of 2020", and it will also add cross-generation multiplayer between PS5 and PS4, as well as game save transfers that will let PS4 players carry on their games when or if they switch to PS5.Online multiplayer has always been a major part of the LittleBigPlanet series, which Sackboy comes from. While this new game will not let players build their own levels as that series did, it has maintained the focus on co-op.GameSpot has previously talked to Waterhouse about what the team is achieving in this new adventure, and you can read that interview here. If you want to pick the game up alongside your new PS5, check out GameSpot's preorder guide. Info from Gamespot.com

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a major PS5 launch title (that's also coming to PS4), and developer Insomniac has pushed to introduce more accessibility options in this sequel. In a Twitter thread, the studio has detailed all the ways the game has been designed for wider, improved accessibility on PS4 and PS5.Across 14 tweets in this thread, Insomniac Games lists various features that will make it possible for a wider audience to experience the game. These include many changes that will make the game a bit easier, as well as some changes that will make the game easier to play without using the right stick, such as automatic camera follow. There's a narrated ASL option, and numerous ways to tweak your subtitles for improved readability.Earlier this year, The Last of Us Part II set new benchmarks for in-game accessibility, and while Miles Morales does not go as far as Naughty Dog's game did, the changes made should open the game up to more people. The complete list of accessibility options covered in the tweets is below.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Demon's Souls is one of the most exciting PS5 exclusives releasing this year, with Bluepoint Games fully remaking From Software's 2009 masterpiece to take advantage of the new hardware. In a new 12-minute gameplay walkthrough, creative director Gavin Moore showed off offline gameplay, as well as the HUD that was disabled during previous gameplay demonstrations. After showing off the robust new character creator, Moore shows off the Nexus area, a hub comparable to the Hunter's Dream from Bloodborne or the Firelink Shrine in Dark Souls 3. From here, you can use the game's five Archstones to travel to the game's various regions--there isn't a sixth one, as the unfinished content from the original game wasn't completed for the remake. The loading times for traveling to the first Archstone's area--the Gates of Boletaria--are nearly non-existent. After a short cinematic featuring a dragon, the gameplay begins, and it's nothing short of stunning.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Many of us assumed that BioWare was going to announce a Mass Effect trilogy collection during N7 Day today, but we didn't expect this other piece of news: A new Mass Effect game is in development.Details on the project are extremely scarce, but BioWare is working on the "next chapter of the Mass Effect universe" and it will feature a "veteran team" from the company. It's unclear who will be involved in the project, as original creative director Casey Hudson now leads the entire studio. Mass Effect: Andromeda creative director Mac Walters appears to still be with the company and served as a writer on the original games as well as Jade Empire. The latter game was an original Xbox exclusive. It never received a sequel but is considered one of the studio's better games. Andromeda wasn't as well-received as the earlier games, with criticism directed at its story, character animations, and quest design. In GameSpot's Mass Effect: Andromeda review, critic Scott Butterworth also found technical issues and disliked the characters.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

While we've already seen the spruced-up videos that are recorded when you unlock a new Trophy on a PlayStation 5 game you might have been waiting to see if there was anything extra-special that happens when you unlock a Platinum Trophy (the one you get for unlocking all of the Trophies in a game). For better or worse, there isn't--you'll just have to settle for the standard Trophy unlock experience and the satisfaction of knowing you earned it.We managed to obtain the Platinum in Astro's Playroom, the free game that's bundled with every PS5 and functions as a showcase for the DualSense controller. When we did, there wasn't anything special that happened--you get the usual pop-up notification, and the system automatically records a short video clip to commemorate the moment as with any Trophy. That video includes the aforementioned overlay we saw previously, but there isn't any additional flourish for the Platinum.Trophies largely function as they have in the past, although it's possible you'll find it easier to earn some of them thanks to PS5's built-in help feature. This allows you to access developer-created videos and help materials through the PS5's user interface, provided the game supports the feature. With a picture-in-picture video on screen, you might find a particularly tough task is a bit more doable.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The PS4 was a fantastic console, a platform that both indie and AAA games flocked to and shined on. Bolstered by a varied lineup of first-party exclusives, Sony's fourth console commanded the attention of gamers over the past seven years. While the PS4's success was undeniably a good thing for Sony, it leaves the company with the tough challenge of topping itself. With the PS5, instead of simply releasing a new console with more horsepower, Sony has taken a bolder step to clearly establish that this is a brand-new generation. The PS5's console design speaks to this, looking less like a PlayStation and more like an evil megacorp's cyberpunk headquarters. It's a brash design that looks nice when standing tall and a little strange when resting on its side, but in either orientation it's undeniably eye-catching. The next-generation machine is big, bold, and next to stablemates like the PS4 Pro, downright intimidating.Though it may be a cold behemoth in its stature, the PS5 is also warm and inviting when turned on. The menus are all reminiscent of the PS4, creating a sense of familiarity that helps users get their feet planted, but it's also stripped down and streamlined to only the necessities. Installed games stand in a line of up to nine titles on the homepage, capped off by a library button that reveals your full collection. This is similar to the PS4, though unfortunately, there's currently no way to organize these games at launch--whatever was used most recently shows up first, and there are no folders. Sorting sizable libraries by the platform is easy, though, allowing you to parse which games are native to the PS5 in just a few button presses.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The first things you'll notice on the PlayStation 5 when playing games are the console's graphical and performance upgrades over its predecessor. But while it's a little less obvious, the PS5 makes major strides in audio as well, boasting its own 3D audio technology to make games as immersive as possible. The trouble is, at launch, PS5's Tempest 3D AudioTech won't work through your TV or speakers--it'll only work with headphones.Sony is offering its Pulse 3D wireless headset as a launch peripheral, which raises the question: Do you need to buy the Pulse 3D to get the most out of your PS5?The answer to that question, thankfully, is no--although the Pulse 3D is a pretty good set of headphones with some added benefits for gaming, like a noise-cancelling microphone. But other headphones can get the same benefits as well.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The PlayStation 5 comes with a brand new controller in the DualSense, which comes with a bunch of new features that are supported by the console's launch games, like Astro's Playroom and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. But Sony's new system is also highly backwards compatible with the PS4--not just its games, but its accessories, too. So how do PS4's DualShock 4 controllers work on the PS5? Pretty much the way you'd expect, but not in all cases.Like with the PS4, you can pair DualShock 4 controllers with your PS5 and use them wirelessly via Bluetooth. The process is the same as with Sony's last console: you use a microUSB cable to plug the controller into the PS5 to sync it. Once you've done that, the DualShock 4 will control the PS5 user interface, allowing you to page around, use apps, and launch games. But it's with games that the DualShock 4's limitations arise. As Sony has previously said, a PS4 DualShock 4 controller will work with PS4 games. That's good, because there are a whole bunch of them that are backwards-compatible at launch. So in the case of titles like Ghost of Tsushima, Days Gone, Horizon Zero Dawn, and any others that work on your PS5, the DualShock 4 will control them as usual. If you like your old controller, you can use it to play your old games.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Rockstar Games has detailed how some of its big games, including Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, will work on the new PS5, Xbox Series X, and Series S. Those games will be backward compatible on both next-gen consoles upon launch next week. This also includes the most recent version of LA Noire, and the PlayStation VR La Noire: The VR Case Files. The backwards compatibility includes cross-saves, so you can pick up right where you left off by transferring your save file or downloading from the cloud. All of your online progress in GTA Online or Red Dead Online will come across too, as long as you're using the same account information that's linked to your game profiles.Rockstar also noted that all the previous Xbox One backward compatible games would continue to work on Series X and Series S, and compatible PS2 games will be playable on PS5:Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Ahead of the launch of the PlayStation 5 next week, reviews for Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales have gone live. One of the launch games for Sony's next-gen console, developer Insomniac's return to New York City stars a younger and less experienced hero in the form of Miles Morales. It's this youthful energy and optimism that critics have praised, with many reviewers noting that while this game isn't too mechanically different from 2018's Marvel's Spider-Man, it's still a great showcase for what the PlayStation 5 is capable of while telling a gripping tale of a young hero finding his own path in life.In GameSpot's Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales review, we scored it a 7/10. Critic Jordan Ramée said that "It's a bit of a bummer to see Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales trip up at certain points, but thankfully, that doesn't happen often."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The Mandalorian's second season has kicked off on Disney+, but can you really consider yourself a fan if you aren't watching it decked out in some Star Wars trinkets? Starwars.com has announced and released a line of Star Wars fine jewelry featuring subtle nods to the spin-off's iconic characters, and the other core series as well. As these fetching items have gold, silver, diamonds, and other gemstones in them, they are probably not for the crowd who are still borrowing a friend's Disney+ login. For example, there's a The Child 10k yellow gold 18" chain studded with white diamonds for $600 that's been "carefully crafted in the shape of the mysterious creature." Ask yourself, is Baby Yoda still all that cute when he costs you the same as a large fraction of your rent? Fortunately, shipping is complimentary. There's another Child pendant, with silver and again white diamonds, "crafted with the details inspired by the mysterious creature's Hover Pram." It runs a somewhat more modest $400, though there is an extra value here--the pram opens and closes!Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
