Eight months after its initial release, Ori and the Will of the Wisps received some impressive technical upgrades on the Xbox Series X and Series S. The optimized version of the game hits an ultra-smooth 60-120 frames per second on both next-gen consoles at varying resolutions. It's a huge comeback for a game that was initially subject to wonky technical issues. In the next generation, Ori sheds its graphical hangups and becomes more impressive for it.Both consoles have frame rate-prioritizing "performance" and visually minded "fidelity" modes, but neither one feels like a compromise. On the Series S, you get to choose between 1080p with HDR at 120fps, or an upscaled 4K at 60fps. On the Series X, you can choose to play the game in 4K with HDR at a performance-focused 120fps, or goose the graphics in a supersampled 6K resolution, running at 60fps with HDR. Regardless of your settings, Will of the Wisps also benefits from enhanced load times and improved audio fidelity.Supersampling, for anyone perplexed by the idea of playing an Xbox One-era game in 6K, processes an image at a higher resolution, then compresses it down to your TV or monitor's resolution. You know how a screenshot gets blurry when you make it ten times larger? It's kind of like the opposite of that… But happening in real-time because it's a video game and not a static image. The thing you need to know is, when using 6K mode in Will of the Wisps, you aren't actually playing in 6K, but what you are playing does get a nice visual boost over the standard 4K setting.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

SpaceX's Crew-1, an international crew of NASA astronauts en route to the International Space Station, has revealed that it has The Child (aka Baby Yoda) as a stowaway. The footage was captured by The Verge's science reporter, Loren Grush. Check out the footage she clipped from the flight's recordings below.Good morning, I must have fallen asleep before I learned that Baby Yoda is the Crew-1's Zero G indicator. May this bless your Monday morning pic.twitter.com/5Ajhlr69p9 — Loren Grush (@lorengrush) November 16, 2020Baby Yoda reportedly has a job: The toy is the flight's "zero G indicator," or a small object that can let crewmembers and/or any passengers know at a glance when the spaceship is in orbit and has reached a microgravity environment. While there is a clear link between astronauts and sci-fi--and especially Star Wars--fandom, it should be stated that this is something of a tradition. Earlier this year, according to The Verge, astronauts on SpaceX's historic launch brought a stuffed dinosaur along for the same purpose.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

If you weren't able to snag a PS5 or Xbox Series X in their preorder phases or during launch week, then you'll have another chance during Black Friday 2020. Walmart kicks off its Deals For Days event on November 25 at 4 PM PT / 7 PM ET and will restock the PS5 and Xbox Series X alongside it. The consoles will only be available on Walmart.com, not in stores, so stay home and keep your mouse finger loose and limber.Walmart's Black Friday ad does not show the digital PS5 or the Xbox Series S, so it's unclear if these digital-only consoles will also be restocked. If you want a new console, you should focus on trying to order an Xbox Series X or PS5 with a disc drive when Walmart's restock happens. If last week's Walmart PS5 restocks are any indication, they'll sell out fast, so you'll want to give yourself the best chance at snagging one. We suggest making sure your Walmart shipping information and payment details are up to date beforehand to help checkout go faster. PS5 $499 The PS5 launched last week alongside a number of great exclusives, including Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Demon's Souls, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure. It also features a number of excellent third-party games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and backwards compatibility with most of the PS4's library. See at Walmart Xbox Series X $499 The Xbox Series X is the only console that can play the next-gen version of Yakuza: Like a Dragon. It features a lot of the same third-party titles as the PS5, too, including Watch Dogs: Legion, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. It also boasts 100% compatibility with the Xbox One's library as well as every Xbox 360 and original Xbox game that has been made backwards-compatible with the new consoles. See at Walmart In addition to keeping Xbox Series X and PS5 orders online-only, Walmart is staying closed on Thanksgiving Day this year. The company said it's doing this to give its employees a "special Thanksgiving Day at home with their loved ones" after a "trying year."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Ubisoft has confirmed that Ghost Recon: Breakpoint will be playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S / Series X thanks to backwards compatibility. Alongside the announcement, the company outlined the enhancements the tactical shooter will see on next-gen hardware.Ghost Recon: Breakpoint on next-gen consoles will be playable in two modes: Performance and Resolution. While the Disneyland Resort remains closed and Disney's other theme parks are operations under reduced capacity, work continues on upcoming attractions--including one tied directly to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind roller coaster at Walt Disney World's Epcot is in the works to potentially open in 2021 and the first footage of the ride vehicle--a first of its kind--has been revealed. As part of the virtual International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Expo, Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products chairman Josh D'Amaro shared a video that features an image of the ride's track, which you can see below. However, Disney also released test footage of the attraction's "Omnicoaster" vehicles. Essentially, they are roller coaster cars that can spin 360 degrees and launch in reverse. That'll come in handy for the "reverse launch into space" that was promised at the D23 Expo in 2019. The vehicle spinning will allow for storytelling elements to be shown on what the company is calling a "family-friendly" attraction. What can't be seen in the video above, unfortunately, is what the inside of the attraction will look like. What we know is that last year it was revealed that the coaster would essentially start visitors on Earth and take guests on a Guardians of the Galaxy-sized mission to the planet Xandar on a ship owned by the Nova Corps.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Halo Infinite was one of the most anticipated games of 2020, until a controversial Xbox Series X showcase caused fans to question the game's visual fidelity and creative direction, which led Microsoft to delay the game to 2021. However, fans hoping for an update on the series reboot will have to wait beyond The Game Awards, as a representative has stated that the game will not appear there."Right now we're still going through the huge cascade of implications and ramifications to the release shift and the team is heads down working through nearly every facet of the game," 343 community director Brian Jarrard wrote on Reddit. "Full disclosure: we don't have anything planned for the VGAs, but are hoping to offer at least a high level update within the next few weeks so we can kind of restart this journey together after the holidays. Pulling together something like a demo or big beat for the VGAs is an enormous amount of work and would cause challenges with current milestones of the holidays."Recently, game director Chris Lee left the Halo Infinite project, prompting concern among fans. He is the second director to leave the project in the last two years. However, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said that the turnover is nothing to worry about in our interview. Back in October, a Halo community manager responded to a fan who accused Microsoft of "turtling up" on Halo Infinite, saying that he disagrees. However, if you're curious to see how 343 recorded weapon sounds for the new game, check out their video.Info from Gamespot.com

Bluepoint's Demon's Souls remake debuted on the PS5 November 12 and players are now able to discover Boletaria on the newest console generation, whether it's again or for the very first time. But there's one question that still needs to be answered as players head into their respective journeys: how long is it?The answer to this question depends on several factors, including how much you're focusing on mainline story content vs side missions, your experience with the series, and your overall ability to get a feel for it. Of course, everyone's play style is also different, so your mileage will vary, but after playing in a variety of styles, here's what we found. How Long Is Demon's Souls?Critical path: 30 hoursCompletionist: 40 hoursLore Hunter: 50 hoursFolks who focus mostly on story content will probably wrap up their runs at around the 30 hour mark. Those looking to thoroughly explore both the main story and side content will likely finish at closer to 40 hours. Players who are more intimately familiar with the Souls series can expect an easier go of it, clocking in at around 20 hours. And, if you, like me, suck at Souls games, your clear time is looking to be somewhere around 50 hours. Don't worry, slow and steady wins the race.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The PS5's Rest mode is supposed to make it easier for players to pick up where they left off, just like its PS4 incarnation. Unfortunately, several PS5 owners--including multiple GameSpot staffers--have reported the console's Rest mode appears to be causing a variety of technical issues, from persistent crashes to outright wiping saves. Most users who have experienced these issues have been forced to rebuild their PS5's database, similar to what happens when you accidentally unplug the system or experience a power outage. However, there appears to be no solution to the save-wiping issue. Some users have even reported that Rest mode can brick your PS5, though it's not clear if that's actually the case. It seems the vast majority of these complaints involve Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which led Insomniac's James Stevenson to say that they're investigating the issue.Seems like putting a PS5 into rest mode while Spider-Man Remastered is running crashes the whole system, forcing that "repair your external drive" process when you start back up. At least that's how it's been for me the few times I've done that today. — Jeff Gerstmann (@jeffgerstmann) November 11, 2020Quick note on the PS5. Apparently sleep mode makes the system unreliable and rando crash. Had Godfall crash the system 3 times within in the span of an hour. The fix, give a fresh restart from the main menu and then don't let it go into sleep mode until it's patched. 👍👍 — Tefty (@teft) November 14, 2020Put my PS5 into rest mode, and when I booted it up, the console had completely shut off, and lost 2 hours of progress in Demon’s Souls (including the Tower Knight fight), and there was an error syncing my cloud save. I’m not mad. — KURT INDOVINA (@KURT_INDOVINA) November 14, 2020We’re looking into this — James Stevenson (@JamesStevenson) November 11, 2020We've reached out to Sony for comment. It's also worth noting that several GameSpot staffers have reported no issues with Rest mode. However, until Sony can acknowledge and look into these issues, it's probably best to turn off Rest Mode altogether. To do that, go to Settings, Power Saving, and then select the Set Time Until PS5 Enters Rest Mode option. From there, select Don't Put In Rest Mode.Info from Gamespot.com
