Destiny 2's infamously buggy Exotic Telesto has once again been taken offline, as players discovered a new exploit with the fusion rifle and Season of the Lost's Wayfinder artifact. By unlocking the Thermoclastic Blooming Artifact mod and equipping it, Guardians could use the weapon to spawn a cluster of power orbs that could charge their Supers up to full immediately. The trick here is that Telesto's delayed spread of bombs counts as enemies in the game, so using a Solar or Stasis attack on the explosives before they detonate would result in dozens of orbs being spawned.Players naturally took advantage of this trick for the return of the Trials of Osiris, instantly charging up Supers and running riot in that high-level PvP mode. Trials barely has time for a Super to be charged up in a regular match when one team dominates, so having a side take an early lead with instant ultimate attacks made Bungie take notice. Telesto was quickly removed from Trials, Crucible, and Gambit activities, to prevent it from being misused.Due to an issue, we have disabled the Telesto Exotic fusion rifle in all Crucible and Gambit activities and the Thermoclastic Blooming Artifact mod in all activities. — Bungie Help (@BungieHelp) September 10, 2021YouTuber Skarrow9 demonstrated just how easy it is to farm for orbs of power with Telesto:Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Dishonored developer Arkane's new game, Deathloop, is out tomorrow and it's getting great reviews (it received a rare 10/10 in GameSpot's review), with many saying it's a legitimate contender for overall Game of the Year. Its release is notable not only for its gameplay qualities and mastery of what it's setting out to do, but also for what is going on behind the scenes. Arkane is now owned by Microsoft as part of the Xbox company's $7.5 billion buyout of Bethesda/Zenimax.Microsoft is honoring previously set publishing contracts, so Deathloop will be aPlayStation 5 console exclusive until at least September 2022 because Bethesda and Sony had a deal before Xbox swooped in. This makes for a strange situation, even if it's not completely unexpected--and it's not necessarily all bad news for Microsoft and Xbox. While one of 2021's best games won't be available on Xbox, Microsoft isn't totally missing out. The fact that Deathloop is a very good game benefits Microsoft in the long run. It strengthens the prestige of developer Arkane, which was already regarded as a top-tier studio thanks to the Dishonored series. Future games from Arkane will come to Xbox--presumably as console exclusives--including the developer's exciting-sounding new shooter Redfall.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Hideo Kojima is imagining a game that you and you alone would experience, kind of. In an interview with Japanese magazine An-An (via Siliconera), Kojima talked about his latest goal in game development: making games that "change in real-time.""I want to create a game that changes in real-time," Kojima told the magazine. "Even though there are people of different ages and trades playing the same game, they are playing it in the same way." To Kojima, the mind behind the sole entry in the "Strand-type" genre, Death Stranding, games should be experienced differently by each person playing. Arguably, that already happens since we, as humans, all experience and process media in our own unique way. However, Kojima wants that process to extend to games themselves.Continuing, the developer said he wants "the game to change based one where that person lives, and that person's unique perspective." Kojima's idea here sounds extremely out-of-this-world, but considering its source, this is standard fare. Kojima's games have often made use of new, inventive mechanics, including Death Stranding's take on asynchronous co-op. In that game, players could interact with each other by building structures throughout the game's world or by leaving equipment behind for others to stumble upon.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Call of Duty: Vanguard's PlayStation-exclusive multiplayer beta kicked off this past weekend, letting players get a taste of some of the guns, maps, and modes set to be featured in Sledgehammer Games' return to World War II this fall. Here are some thoughts after a weekend with Vanguard left me with a mix of optimism and concern.Visibility Is Still An IssueStarting with the changes from the initial alpha test with Vanguard's Champion Hill mode, the multiplayer beta definitely showed Sledgehammer Games partially delivered on the improvements promised for the game's visibility. One major complaint was the dark visual effect when a player was taking damage. This effect has been drastically reduced for the beta, and players are no longer hindered by a dark screen in those crucial moments.Unfortunately, Vanguard seems to still struggle with some significant visibility issues, which have been made even more apparent with the 6v6 maps during the beta. Players just seem to blend in with the background. And even at close-to-mid range, players often become invisible in doorways and windows. It seems like general visibility is good for most of the playable area, but in certain spots it just gets completely lost.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Apex Legends' next update was primed to remove the game's controversial tap-strafing mechanic from the game, but upon further testing, Respawn says it will be delaying the removal of the move to a later patch in an effort to ensure there are not unexpected side effects in relation to the game's other movement mechanics.Tap-strafing involves players on PC mapping the forward movement key to the mousewheel in order to pull off rapid changes in direction. Given the fact that the move can only be performed on PC--and that it's not an intended gameplay mechanic but was instead discovered by players-- Respawn announced it would be removing the move, citing its lack of readability and the effect it had on the game when combined with Apex Legends' various other movement enhancing abilities. The @playapex team has recently discovered some unexpected side effects of our planned changes to tap-strafing.It is still our intention to address some of the most egregious use-cases of tap-strafing, but for now we are delaying our planned change to a later patch. — Respawn (@Respawn) September 13, 2021"Movement is sacred in Apex," Respawn states in a tweet. "We weigh every change to these systems carefully and value feedback. After further testing, we've concluded we need to take more time to get this right to make sure related movement mechanics aren't caught in the cross-fire."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
