While 2020 was the first year without a single release in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since it started, there is a wide variety of titles set to be released over the next few years. The MCU is about to make its TV debut with WandaVision, which releases on Disney+ this week, and Black Widow will hopefully hit theaters this spring. Now Marvel Studio boss Kevin Feige has spoken about how the studio decides which projects will be series, and which will be movies. In an interview with Collider, Feige explained that it was down to the characters, their stories, and which medium will best serve them, and gave the upcoming series Ms. Marvel as an example."It really is about the individual stories you want to tell and a bit informed by the bigger picture," he said. "We knew that we wanted to introduce Ms. Marvel first and her family and all of her great supporting characters and her origin in a Disney+ long-form series, and then bring her into Captain Marvel 2. There will be some times where the opposite happens. The character is introduced in a movie and brought onto a Disney+ series. So, it really just varies based on the story or the genre that we want to explore."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Moon Knight, one of many upcoming projects waiting in the wings slated for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has added May Calamawy (Hulu's Ramy) to the show's cast in a key role. The casting choice was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, although what this role is remains unclear and not even a character name has been revealed.Calamawy joins a still largely unannounced cast that includes star Oscar Isaac in the titular role (who is also reportedly set to play Solid Snake in Sony's upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie). For those who are unfamiliar, Moon Knight is a cult favorite C-lister vigilante who suffers from identity disorders that give him a laundry list of alter egos.It was previously announced that the project would be helmed by Mohamed Diab (Crash) and Jeremy Slater (Umbrella Academy), and further aided creatively by indie auters and directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (the team behind the 2019 sci-fi horror film Synchronic). Benson and Moorhead are known for their eerie and surreal sensibilities, so that is at least somewhat of a clue to what direction Moon Knight might be taking.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Following the rocky launch of Cyberpunk 2077 in December, developer CD Projekt Red has released a statement from studio co-founder Marcin Iwinski in which he offers a personal explanation of what happened in the days leading up to the game's release."Despite good reviews on PC, the console version of Cyberpunk 2077 did not meet the quality standard we wanted it to meet. I and the entire leadership team are deeply sorry for this, and this video is me publicly owning up to that," Iwinski said."Please, don't fault any of our teams for what happened. They are all incredibly talented and hard-working. Myself and the board are the final decision-makers, and it was our call to release the game. Although, believe me, we never ever intended for anything like this to happen. I assure you that we will do our best to regain your trust."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Last month during its big investor event, Disney unveiled a list of new Marvel shows and movies and confirmed a few long-awaited shows are still on the way. One of the most interesting announcements was that of a Secret Invasion series. In a new interview with Collider, MCU mastermind gave us the smallest hint of what we can expect from the series."We're interested in the political paranoia aspect of Secret Invasion," Feige explained. In the comics, Secret Invasion follows the infiltration of the Skrulls into the ranks of Earth's mightiest heroes. The Skrulls use their shapeshifting abilities to take the place of Marvel characters like Elektra, Hank Pym, and Spider-Woman with the intent to infiltrate SHIELD and the Avengers and take control of Earth. Once the plan starts to come to light, it puts every hero from the god Thor on down to Hawkeye under suspicion. The Skrulls we met in Captain Marvel were refugees, but the show will cast them as invaders. Spider-Man: Far From Home showed Fury working with Talos, but he and the other refugees may be a splinter group with very different desires from the invading ones.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Electronic Arts' exclusivity rights to making Star Wars games has come to an end as LucasArts has opened its portfolio to other studios--in fact, The Division 2 developer Massive Entertainment has already announced it's creating an open-world Star Wars game. This is exciting; I'm happy to see that other big studios are being given the opportunity to try their hand at Star Wars, and I can't wait to get more games like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars: Squadrons. But I also can't help but think that any Star Wars game we get from a AAA studio may just cover genres and storylines we've already seen before. Massive Entertainment, for example, is doing what it does best and making an open-world game. But there are so many more exciting opportunities, and I hope LucasArts chooses to let a few indie studios take a stab at Star Wars to realize them.I have no doubt that Massive can create a good Star Wars game, but I also assume it will cater to the strengths and gameplay systems that Ubisoft studios already know sell well. I'm willing to bet that this new game will be another open-world action game with RPG mechanics and a skill tree that stars a character who can be a man or woman and has enough side quests to keep audiences playing for over 30 hours--and then painted as Star Wars. That's not shade, I'm down for it, that sounds super fun, but it isn't all that weird for a Star Wars game. And Star Wars is at its best when you explore the stranger parts of its universe.Indie studios traditionally don't have as big a bottom line to meet in comparison to AAA developers, allowing them to be a bit more experimental with what they make. We've seen this before with other major film, TV shows, or comic book properties. Bithell Games transformed John Wick into a top down strategy game with John Wick Hex, for instance, and Telltale Games made The Walking Dead into a choice-driven episodic adventure series. Neither are obvious genre choices for their respective franchises--personally, I'd expect John Wick to be a shooter and for The Walking Dead to be a survival horror game--but both worked surprisingly well.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

With Lucasfilm's announcement that all video games based on its properties will now live under the “Lucasfilm Games” umbrella, it appears that a new age is about to begin for the company's video games ambitions. We already got a glimpse of what this new strategy is with the reveal of a new Indiana Jones game by Bethesda's studio MachineGames. And more recently, Ubisoft confirmed that it's making an open-world Star Wars game, which is all the more surprising, given Star Wars titles have been predominantly developed by Lucasfilm's longtime video game collaborator Electronic Arts for the last few years. With Star Wars and other Lucasfilm properties handed off to competing publishers and developers, it seems like EA will no longer have exclusive rights to the property's gaming-related projects. A shift in strategy like this now makes it open season for just about any notable developer in the industry to work with Lucasfilm properties. All this echoes how Marvel's games division approached making games based on its IP, where there was a greater emphasis on matching the right developer with the right property instead of handing off the entire catalog to one company.Naturally, all of this got us thinking about Star Wars games that we've always dreamed of being made. And because of Lucasfilm's new strategy, any developer can now potentially helm projects based on any Star Wars or Lucasfilm-related property, so this has our imaginations running wilder than ever before. Below, you can read about our dream Star Wars games and who want to make them.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Nvidia unveiled a lot of interesting announcements at this year's all-virtual CES, including the GeForce RTX 3060 and a new generation of laptops. However, the company also revealed a slate of games that will soon receive DLSS support, and there are some big names included.Call of Duty: Warzone is perhaps the most notable game mentioned, along with the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy's Security Breach and Outriders, both of which are scheduled for release later this year. Security Breach will also support ray tracing. If you aren't familiar with DLSS (or deep learning super sampling), the feature of Nvidia's RTX cards uses deep learning to upscale lower-resolution images to higher resolutions. DLSS requires less graphical horsepower than natively rendering a game at a high resolution, meaning that it allows lower-end cards to enjoy improved performance and better image quality in these selected games. Control and Battlefield V were two of the first games to implement DLSS.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Dungeons & Dragons has been a great way for people to connect with each other throughout the pandemic, even if it's just playing over Zoom calls. And on March 16, Wizards of the Coast has a new D&D adventure book called The Candlekeep Mysteries, but this time around, it's made up of a lot of smaller stories. With many of D&D's adventure books taking numerous sessions to play, what Candlekeep Mysteries offers plays are short stories that take 1-2 sessions to play. The stories are set for levels 1-16 and all about 10-12 pages long. Candlekeep Mysteries will consist of 17 different adventures, many of which are from new authors. Check out the covers below.Main cover art by Clint CearleyGallery The central setting for Candlekeep Mysteries is the gigantic Forgotten Realms library. "Candlekeep is a huge fortress that perches on the edge of a sea," said Chris Perkins, principal story designer for Dungeons & Dragons, during a press conference. And it's this magically warded fortress, which holds the greatest trove of lore, that the Forgotten Realms (FR) has ever had. And it has existed since the earliest days of FR. It has appeared in every edition of the game in some way shape or form. And it's I think it's hard to run an FR campaign and not have the word candlekeep actually come up and the desire for the characters to go there at some point because if you have a question that needs to be answered, if you have a riddle that needs to be solved, a puzzle that needs to be cracked, the best place to go to find the answers you seek is this place."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Netflix has released viewing metrics for Cobra Kai, its breakout hit that originally started life on YouTube as a premium offering. It should be noted that the following brags from the streaming service should be read with a healthy amount of skepticism: Netflix generously defines a view of their content as being at least two minutes. Nevertheless, you don't need numbers from Netflix to know that the series is popular. That said, according to Netflix, the show's recently launched Season 3 is projected to have more than 41 million households in its first 28 days, which is pretty impressive given it debuted on New Year's Day. Netflix says this figure makes it one of the platform's top 10 returning original seasons launched to date--meaning not a first season or a limited series. However, it should be noted that this claim is somewhat confused as Season 3 is the series' first that has debuted on Netflix, so it's hard to compare against how the first two fared on YouTube.Netflix also says that across the show's three seasons launched so far, 73 million households have watched at least one episode of Cobra Kai. The show has "reached overall in 28 countries and has reached the top 10 overall in 85 countries." The show is among the most popular in Argentina, UK, US, Greece, and Sri Lanka.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
