Battlefield 2042 developer DICE has shed some light on one of the notable changes it's making to a particular part of the multiplayer game due to feedback from the alpha.Battlefield's lead community manager said on Twitter that the operator Falck's S21 Syrette pistol had "significant" enough issues to lead to an overall imbalance to gameplay. This pistol is capable of reviving players at range, but that proved to be too OP. As a result, DICE is changing the pistol so it will only be capable of healing at range but not reviving."Balancing games is fun! We love learning when we move into new environments and we're excited for the things that we'll learn this month with our open beta expect us to be plenty transparent about how things are performing and the balance changes we'll make across 2042," the community manager said.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

In advance of Rick & Morty's Season 5 finale airing on September 5, Adult Swim has released a quick live-action video on Twitter featuring a belching Christopher Lloyd as the burping mad scientist. The video's only 14 seconds, but seeing as how the finale will be a full hour, it's reasonable to expect Lloyd will be in the episode for a sizable chunk. The episode has recently been promoted as one that will ask the question, "Who is Rick without Morty?" And, apparently, Rick will take on a new companion--or likely, companions. The only other clue the tweet offers is the text "C-132," which refers to that dimension in the show's world. But until the episode airs, it's anyone's guess what it really means.C-132 #rickandmorty pic.twitter.com/oq54C9C5TW — adult swim (@adultswim) September 3, 2021Even after Season 5 draws to a close, there is plenty more Rick and Morty coming--for example, the characters also coming to Fortnite. On the main flagship show, Adult Swim ordered 70 more episodes of the series in 2018, and co-creator Dan Harmon stated earlier this year that the writing team was already working on Season 7.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Like many technology companies these days, Roblox Corp. is attempting to create a metaverse with Roblox, and communication will play a big role in that vision. To that end, the company has announced that a new voice chat system called "Spatial Voice" is rolling out now in the game by invitation only as part of a beta program. The idea of Spatial Voice is to have a voice chat system that allows players to have conversations that "happen in a realistic way, mirroring how we listen and respond to the world around us each day." The overarching goal is to make Spatial Voice a "realistic, safe, and easy" tool for players to use "across all Roblox experiences," Roblox chief product officer Manuel Bronstein said in a blog post."As the metaverse continues to grow and bring people together in new, unexpected, and exciting ways, Roblox anticipates that communication will have an increasingly integral role," Bronstein said. "We are embarking on this long-term vision for the future of communication because it allows us to be measured and thoughtful in our approach. This will enable us to introduce capabilities that serve the needs of the Roblox community, uphold our standards for digital civility, and contain the necessary safeguards to protect users of all ages. We believe that a mix of the right communication features and safety measures will further elevate the shared experiences of the metaverse, and we are eager to partner with our community to bring these features to life."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Take-Two Interactive has launched a lawsuit against the creators of reverse-engineering open-source software called Re3 that recently made headlines for allowing GTA III to run on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation Vita. The lawsuit, which was filed on September 2 in the United States District Court in California and seen by GameSpot, says Re3 is acting unlawfully by copying, adapting, and distributing the source code to GTA III and GTA: Vice City without Take-Two's consent.Take-Two's lawyers said the Re3 technology allows anyone to play these games on platforms the games were never released on, including Nintendo Switch and PlayStation Vita."Defendants' conduct is knowing, willful, and deliberate. Defendants are well aware that they do not possess the right to copy, adapt, or distribute derivative GTA source code, or the audiovisual elements of the Games, and that doing so constitutes copyright infringement," Take-Two's lawyers said.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Rainbow Six Extraction is Ubisoft's upcoming PvE-focused spin-off of Rainbow Six Siege, and players of Ubisoft's tactical PvP shooter will likely already be familiar with how Extraction's operators play.A new gameplay video highlighting operator Finka shows off the similarities between Ubisoft's two Rainbow Six titles. Just as is the case in Siege, Finka's primary operator ability is adrenaline surge, which allows her to give teammates a health boost with the press of a button. The ability can also revive downed teammates, and, like in Siege, improves weapon handling and recoil.Unlike in Siege, the abilities of Extraction's operators can be upgraded over time. In Finka's case, her adrenaline surge can be improved to be usable even when downed, allowing her to revive herself.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The latest flight for Halo: The Master Chief Collection Season 8 includes a ton of new customization options for players. However, along with armor that makes their character look scarily like Skeletor, some additional, previously unannounced customization choices have been added to the game. Notably, developer 343 Industries has separated Spartan's body types from their voices, letting players mix and match how their walking tank looks and sounds. These new customization options are currently only available for Halo Reach, with every other Halo game's options staying the same. In the main version of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, a Spartan's voice changes with their body, with the larger body coming with a male voice and the smaller body having a female voice. While it's not clear if these changes will make it into Halo: MCC with Season 8's launch--not all features included in flights make it in the game's seasonal updates--they do let players pick and choose how their Spartan looks and sounds with more freedom than ever before.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Next year's Destiny 2 expansion has plenty of content to kick off a new era for Bungie's action RPG, but perhaps the biggest game-changer is the inclusion of Hive Guardians on the Battlefield. For years, the paracausal powers of the Light have been almost exclusively wielded by humans, Exos, and Awoken, but The Witch Queen is teasing Hive soldiers who not only wield the same gifts but can also resurrect themselves from the dead to continue a fight. Just from the trailer alone, it looks like players will have to deal with Hive versions of Gunslingers, Sentinels, and Stormcallers.According to Bungie, these new enemies alter the playing field in interesting ways by making players face dark reflections of themselves. Speaking to Polygon, game director Joe Blackburn added that the race to take out a Hive Guardian's Ghost adds a new layer of vulnerability to the game as players will be exposed as they race to prevent one of Savathun's soldiers from being revived.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The long-awaited new movie adaptation of Dune his theaters and HBO Max in October, and the reviews are in. The movie stars Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, and Josh Brolin, and is directed by Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2049, Arrival). The film is adapted from Frank Herbert's 1965 novel Dune, which is one of the most celebrated and influential sci-fi books of all time. It's been adapted twice before--in the '80s by David Lynch, and as a TV miniseries in the early 2000s. While Lynch's film is often praised for its visuals, most fans found it a narrative mess, with far too much crammed into the running time. This is not a problem that Villeneuve's film has--he has only adapted the first half of the novel so far. If this movie is a success, then the cameras will roll on Part 2.Like all of Warner's movies in 2021, Dune will premiere on HBO Max on the same day it hits theaters. Villeneuve isn't exactly happy about this--but hopefully, he will be pleased by the critical reaction so far. The majority of critics are very positive about the film, praising the movie's amazing visuals and dark, serious tone. There is some criticism that the movie's style overwhelms the plot, and there's no getting away from the fact that it is only half the story. Nevertheless, Dune currently holds 84% on Rotten Tomatoes--so here's what the critics have said about Villeneuve's sci-fi epic.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

We finally met Savathun in Destiny 2 at the beginning of Season of the Lost. She has multiple targets on her back and is now seeking refuge at the Dreaming City, under Mara Sov's protection. She wouldn't do this without a cunning reason, and I have an idea as to where this is all headed. When our Guardian met the crystalized Witch Queen in the first week, she claimed in a cutscene that she is not a villain and the Guardian is not a hero. "We are paracausal," she explained. Paracausal, in the Destiny world, means that something is not part of causality; it is free of cause and effect. The last few seconds of the cutscene showed a cloud that looked similar to the worm god Xol wrap around the Traveler. This imagery could simply refer to the Light and Dark being entwined paracausal forces, but it made me question the worm gods. It doesn’t seem likely that the worm gods would stand on the sidelines while Savathun seeks aid from light-bearers to free her from her worm. The worm gods are servants of the Darkness, after all. These worm gods are the bad guys; they're the Hive's Dark deities that gave Savathun and her siblings their worm larvae, allowing the three siblings to become powerful and immortal. It was initially young Sathona's, Savathun’s pre-Darkness name, idea to meet with the worm gods on their homeworld, Fundament. Worm gods were confined to lore books until we had a showdown with one in Destiny 2’s Warmind expansion. There could be more within our solar system and could potentially be bosses again because of Savathun.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Denis Villeneuve is trying not to think too much about the future. After a gargantuan production process followed by pandemic delays, Dune: Part One is hitting theaters next month (and premiering at Venice Film Festival this week). Its visionary director and co-writer is trying to live in the here and now. But he's not doing a great job of it, because he's already thinking about what's next."I think that we were able to bring it to life because we all, me and the team, just did that for three and a half years, full time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, we were dreaming about Dune: Part One," Villeneuve told GameSpot and other journalists during a recent virtual Q&A. "That's the way I make cinema...I need to be there now and not think too much about the future."Yet the director hasn't been shy about his plans for more Dune. This film covers roughly the first half of Frank Herbert's first novel, which was released in 1965. Over the course of Herbert's original six books, the series goes pretty wild, with time jumps thousands of years in the future and an immortal "god-emperor" who's half human and half sandworm. In contrast, Villeneuve dreams of adapting the first book and its direct sequel, published in 1969, which are concerned mainly with the same set of main characters and take place within a reasonable span of time.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
