Following a successful reveal of Project Eve at Sony's latest PlayStation Showcase, Shift Up CEO Hyung-Tae Kim bought a little present for each of the game's 260 developers--a PlayStation 5.According to Daniel Ahmad (via Twitter), Swift Up's CEO chose the PS5s as a gift so that the game's creators could all play Project Eve when it eventually releases. In an interview with Japanese magazine An-An (via Siliconera), Kojima talked about his latest goal in game development: making games that "change in real-time.""I want to create a game that changes in real-time," Kojima told the magazine. "Even though there are people of different ages and trades playing the same game, they are playing it in the same way." To Kojima, the mind behind the sole entry in the "Strand-type" genre, Death Stranding, games should be experienced differently by each person playing. Arguably, that already happens since we, as humans, all experience and process media in our own unique way. Call of Duty: Vanguard's PlayStation-exclusive multiplayer beta kicked off this past weekend, letting players get a taste of some of the guns, maps, and modes set to be featured in Sledgehammer Games' return to World War II this fall. Here are some thoughts after a weekend with Vanguard left me with a mix of optimism and concern.Visibility Is Still An IssueStarting with the changes from the initial alpha test with Vanguard's Champion Hill mode, the multiplayer beta definitely showed Sledgehammer Games partially delivered on the improvements promised for the game's visibility. One major complaint was the dark visual effect when a player was taking damage. This effect has been drastically reduced for the beta, and players are no longer hindered by a dark screen in those crucial moments.Unfortunately, Vanguard seems to still struggle with some significant visibility issues, which have been made even more apparent with the 6v6 maps during the beta. Players just seem to blend in with the background. And even at close-to-mid range, players often become invisible in doorways and windows. Apex Legends' next update was primed to remove the game's controversial tap-strafing mechanic from the game, but upon further testing, Respawn says it will be delaying the removal of the move to a later patch in an effort to ensure there are not unexpected side effects in relation to the game's other movement mechanics.Tap-strafing involves players on PC mapping the forward movement key to the mousewheel in order to pull off rapid changes in direction. Borderlands 3 is running two mini-events over the next two days in celebration of the game's two-year anniversary. Announced on the Borderlands website, there will be two mini-events taking place, with each running for 48 hours.The two events are Loot Monster Mayhem and Freebies at Maurice's Black Market, both of which are live now, ending September 15 at 8:59 AM PT / 11:59 AM ET. The Loot Monster Mayhem event increases the spawn rate of loot variant enemies, which drop extra goodies. Players will also be able to seek out Maurice's Black Market vending machine during the event, which will be offering free loot. Darkest Dungeon 2 will be available in early access on the Epic Games Store on October 26. Announced by developer Red Hook on Twitter, the sequel to gothic horror turn-based strategy game will be available in early access on PC via the Epic Games Store.While Darkest Dungeon 2 has a store page on the Epic Games Store, a price has not yet been announced. The teaser shows off a number of character classes that were present in the original game and implies that the evil from the Darkest Dungeon in the first game has spread out into the world.As reported by Game Informer, Darkest Dungeon 2 looks to abandon the town building elements of the original, instead sending players' parties on a doomed caravan ride through various biomes. The game will instead be similar to a rougelite, having players earn the currency of Hope, which can be used in between runs to purchase upgrades for the caravan to make it a bit further. Players will navigate across a massive map, forced to make hard choices between where to travel next.
