Mass Effect Legendary Edition, which includes upgraded remasters of the first three Mass Effect games as well as (almost) all of the DLC, releases on May 14. Today, EA revealed some additional information about what you can expect from the game's performance across consoles and PC.Not surprisingly, the remasters will be able to reach really high performance on PC. According to the developer, the PC version will support 240 frames per second and 240 Hz refresh rates. On the other hand, all console versions will have the option to prioritize graphical fidelity or to prioritize framerate.EA also shared a breakdown of the maximum resolution and framerate across the various consoles. Not surprisingly, PS5 and Xbox Series X enable the highest resolution of the consoles; Xbox Series X alone can output 120fps if you have a compatible TV (PS5 only supports 60fps). Here's the full breakdown:Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Xbox has announced plans to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with a series of initiatives meant to highlight the culture and contributions of AAPI community. Alongside a donation match program, Xbox is including a curated list of AAPI games and movies on the Xbox and Microsoft stores, adding a weekly showcase of games featuring AAPI creators and characters to the Xbox Community Game Club, and promoting AAPI streamers and creators on both Twitch and in the Xbox Ambassadors community. This year marks the first that Xbox has celebrated AAPI Heritage Month, a fact Xbox addressed in its statement. The company said this is due to its deepened efforts to support and celebrate the community during this period of "frightening and reprehensible" attacks and "COVID-19-related hate crimes against members of the AAPI community."One of the key ways it intends to do this is by allowing Microsoft Rewards Members to earn and donate points to two AAPI-focused charities, Asian American Advancing Justice | AAJC and Asian Pacific Policy and Planning Council (A3PCON), which will be matched by Microsoft. Minecraft's Mojang studios will be promoting this feature, and has already donated $100,000 USD to AAJC as a part of this initiative.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

In just 40 or so minutes of a hands-off gameplay demo of Biomutant, I'd watched its protagonist ride a jetski through polluted gooey waters, mount some kind of cat-looking horse thing, operate their own ramshackle mech suit, and hop aboard a flying bat creature. Oh, and there's a flying suitcase, too.Traversing the world in these many ways is indicative of the level of customization at play in Biomutant. In the final hands-off preview before the game's release, developer Experiment 101 showed a fair amount of new footage that gave a sense of your ability to explore the game world, engage in combat, create your character, and build your own weapons. That freedom seems to be a central tenet of the Biomutant's open-world--you can look how you want, fight how you want, wear what you want, and use the weapons that you want. The freedom to determine your character in the world of Biomutant begins with character creation, where you make your own mutant animal critter to travel the wastes of the game's post-human world. You can do a lot to create a creature you like to look at, but character creation goes well beyond just having spiffy fur patterns.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

When Mayans MC first debuted on FX, the idea of a continuation of the world of Sons of Anarchy was exciting. Still, the original series left some massive shoes to fill. While its quality may have fallen off in the last couple of seasons, it was a groundbreaking show that told a compelling story and featured a group of characters you were dying to root for. How could a sequel series with an all-new cast stack up?Yet here we are, nearing the end of Mayans MC's third and best season. Not only has it measured up to the original series, but it's also toppled it. It took some work to get there, though. After all, while all three seasons of Mayans MC are worthwhile, it's not until the current run of episodes that the show did the smartest thing it could: It buried the past and moved forward.Co-created by Elgin James and Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter, the first two seasons of Mayans MC introduced a very relevant story. Unlike Sons of Anarchy's predominantly white motorcycle gang in a small Northern California town, Mayans is made up of a primarily Latinx cast of actors in a tale set on the border between the United States and Mexico. It couldn't be a more timely narrative.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Over its 25-year history, the Resident Evil series has continually changed and evolved, like a mad scientist who injects himself with a questionable bio-weapon, mutating into something new every time he shows up. For the most part, those evolutions have been fascinating recombinations of elements as Resident Evil tries different mixes of survival-horror and action gameplay. With Resident Evil 7, Capcom swung for the fences with a first-person perspective, a narrower scope, and more horror-focused gameplay. Resident Evil Village evolves that idea to make something that feels very different from its predecessor, but which is just as engaging.Though the perspective and mechanical underpinnings are the same, Village branches off in its own direction from RE7, capturing some of the things that were great about that game while resisting the impulse to retread the same ground. While it's still frightening at points, it takes a less horror-driven tack on the same underlying first-person formula. Village continues to evolve Resident Evil while maintaining a keen grasp on some of its core tenets, finding new ways (or reviving old ones) of getting under your skin and ratcheting up the tension. As has been pretty clear for a while now, Resident Evil Village is Resident Evil 7 through the lens of Resident Evil 4. When the latter was released way back in 2005, it significantly revamped what the franchise had been up to that point, swapping the earlier games' slower, survival-horror focus for a more fast-paced action approach. RE4 was scary because you were being overwhelmed by enemies, backed into corners, and chased by madmen wielding chainsaws. It traded darkened corridors and jump scares for adrenaline-fueled panic.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Star Wars Day 2021 is in full swing, bringing a slew of deals on Star Wars games, movies, merch, and more. It also tends to bring cool product announcements (like this cool Lego R2-D2 set) and bundles. One of the neatest offers we've seen pop up this Star Wars Day is over at Amazon, which is having a huge sale on Star Wars gear today. Only on May the 4th, you can snag this Baby Yoda-themed Fire TV Stick 4K and Echo Dot bundle, complete with Grogu's pointy ears on the Echo Dot. The brown stand with green ears makes the whole thing look like Baby Yoda's head is staring right at you. There are two versions of this bundle depending on which Echo Dot you pick up. The newer 4th Gen Echo Dot bundle is on sale for $109 (was $144) and releases June 10, while the 3rd Gen Echo Dot bundle is only a few bucks cheaper at $104 and available now. These deals are only available today, and it's unclear how long the bundles will be available at all. If you're looking to pick up this bundle, you may not want to wait. This would make a perfect gift for any Star Wars fan as well--don't forget Mother's Day is coming up this weekend and Father's Day isn't far behind. If you or the person you're shopping for already has an Echo Dot, you can buy the stand separately for $25. Echo Dot (4th Gen) and Fire TV Stick 4K bundle $109 (was $144) | releases June 10 The Echo Dot (4th Gen) bundle features the new spherical Echo Dot, which works really well with the Grogu ears. The Fire TV Stick 4K supports 4K and HDR as well as access to all of the top streaming services, including Disney Plus, Netflix, Apple TV, and more. It also allows for voice control with Alexa. Meanwhile, the 4th Gen Echo Dot released last year is the perfect smart home device, letting you play music, hear the news and weather, set alarms, and more. See at Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Gen) and Fire TV Stick 4K bundle $104 (was $134) Though it's not much cheaper, this bundle with the 3rd Gen Echo Dot is available now with free shipping by Thursday. The 3rd Gen Echo Dot is very similar in terms of functionality to the 4th Gen version aside from their obvious differences in build. A notable difference is the 4th Gen Dot's improvement in sound quality due to its forward-firing speaker, making it louder and clearer. Still, if you don't want to wait until June or like the look of this Dot better, this bundle is certainly an option. See at Amazon Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The Epic v Apple lawsuit is currently underway, and several very interesting pieces of information about Epic and Apple's businesses have already come to light. What no one could have expected was that the trial would also reveal that Wal-Mart is apparently working on a games streaming service. As reported by The Verge, previously confidential Epic emails have detailed the experience of playing Wal-Mart's service, codenamed Project Storm. Epic co-founder Mark Rein discussed actually going hands-on with Project Storm all the way back in April 2019, right around when rumors of the service first began popping up. In the email thread, Rein described the experience as similar to "playing on PS4 and superior to playing on Android or iOS."Walmart has been working on an unannounced game streaming service, codenamed Project StormAccording to Verge sources, the launch has been put on hold due to the pandemic and it is not clear whether this will turn into an actual commercial producthttps://t.co/QFKDy3h0dt pic.twitter.com/jWsOcaRFVK — Nibel (@Nibellion) May 4, 2021A handful of other details about the service were revealed as well, although they should be taken with a big grain of salt since these emails were sent in 2019 and Wal-Mart may have significantly shifted its approach since then. However, they still give an interesting glimpse into what may be Wal-Mart's first big push into the games industry. For example, Rein said that Wal-Mart may sell a clip that can attach to a phone to hold an Xbox controller, and that it would sell the clip for very low prices. In addition, a pitch slide shared in the thread shows that Wal-Mart was trying to get many third-party publishers and developers on board.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Actor Andrew Garfield is rumored to have a role in Spider-Man: No Way Home. In a new interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Garfield reacted to the rumors and gave a cryptic, non-committal answer when pressed.Instead of confirming whether or not he's in the movie, Garfield responded to the hysteria surrounding the rumors in the first place."It's so crazy. Dude, it's f**king hilarious to me. I do have this Twitter account and I see how often Spider-Man is trending and it's people freaking out about a thing," Garfield said. "I wish I could be able to speak to everyone and just say, 'I recommend that you chill.'"Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Director Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy celebrates a massive milestone this year, as the first entry in the film series turns 20 years old in December. Originally released in 2001, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring set the tone for an adventure that starred a humble group of Hobbits embarking on a journey to destroy the One Ring that threatened all of Middle-earth. Naturally, there was a whole lot of falling, stumbling, and tumbles on the way to Mount Doom.YouTube channel LOTR & Hobbit Edits tackled the task of showing just how cruel gravity is in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, creating a supercut of moments in the film that's nothing but a montage of intense plummeting action. How much content is there in total? Almost five entire minutes of Hobbits collapsing, wizard nosedives, and a steep depreciation in Elves being able to maintain their center of gravity.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

To mark the Star Wars Day celebration, NPD analyst Mat Piscatella has released a chart that shows the top-selling and highest-earning Star Wars video games in the US.The chart shows the best-selling games based on dollar sales between January 1995 and March 2021. EA's Star Wars: Battlefront is the top-selling Star Wars game in US history during the tracked period, with EA's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order coming in second. Rounding out the top five were 2017's Star Wars: Battlefront II, Lego star Wars: The Complete Saga, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.Given the strong results for EA's games, it's understandable why EA and Disney are staying in business for additional Star Wars titles in the future. The publisher no longer has the exclusive license for console games, however, as Lucasfilm is now working with Ubisoft on a new Star Wars open-world game from the developers of The Division.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
