The Xbox Series X restock situation has been a hectic and frustrating one for hopeful buyers since the next-gen console launched last fall, but one retailer is making a slight change in how it sells the Xbox Series X|S online starting Tuesday, May 18. According to reputable Twitter account Wario64, which tracks deals and restocks, Target has notified employees that Xbox Series X and Series S consoles can be purchased online as soon as inventory is available starting tomorrow. This means that instead of holding consoles for specific drop times, local inventory for the Xbox Series X|S will be available for purchase online as stores scan it in.This doesn't mean you'll be able to walk into your local Target and ask whether they have the Xbox Series X in stock--Xbox Series X orders will still be sold online only, so you want to keep your eye on Target.com instead. However, Xbox consoles will be available for Order Pickup/Drive Up after you secure your purchase. Basically, Xbox Series X inventory will be available on Target's website when your local store has stock, and you'll have to go pick it up in person. In addition to appearing in The Witcher season two on Netflix, actor Graham McTavish has joined the cast for the Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon--or at least we're pretty sure he has. Speaking to Stylist about the rumors that he's in the show, McTavish basically confirmed it without saying Game of Thrones."I'm enjoying that, yes," he said. "I'm really having a lot of fun. We've just started. It's a very big project, so we're getting to know each other. They're lovely people. It's great, but I can't tell you too much. I can't tell you really anything about the story! Microsoft has updated its sustainable packaging goals, setting a list of ambitious targets to achieve in two phases. The company outlined its goals with partial progress to be made by 2025, ultimately leading to 100% recyclable packaging by 2030. According to a social media post and packaging compliance page, Microsoft's goals include the elimination of single-use plastic packaging, and 100% certified sustainability forested fiber by 2025, by 2025. Then by 2030 the company is aiming to achieve 100% recyclable packaging and 100% recycled, renewable, or responsibly sourced content. That last term means that the company commits to knowing the full extent of its material supply chain and assuring that none of it is harmful to the planet or people.While the site does not explicitly mention the Xbox by name, a header image on the compliance page shows an Xbox Series X and various Xbox accessories, along with other Microsoft products like the Surface tablets. In the Nier future, Nier Reincarnation will be in the hands of anyone who wants to download and play it on Android and iOS devices. Pre-registration for the closed beta test for this free-to-play gacha-style RPG opened up last week, and I think it's fair to expect more than a game that tries to bend your will to become as RNG gods. With series director Yoko Taro at the helm and a lot of goodwill attached to the Nier name, Nier Reincarnation should live up to that reputation in some capacity and deliver some narrative satisfaction, right?I recently spoke with Yoko-san, mostly about the newly minted Nier Replicant reissue and his insight in developing the series. But we also had a brief discussion about what the future holds with Nier Reincarnation (developed by Applibot) coming soon and how he wants it to carry the franchise's name as the creative director for this mobile game.To put it simply, Yoko-san isn't exactly a fan of how gacha-style games have positioned themselves, especially as it relates to his perspective on game development. A Valorant Esports committee has issued a six-month suspension to Jay "Sinatraa" Won following an investigation into sexual assault allegations levied at the former Overwatch MVP last March.The Competitive Operations team, a committee within Valorant Esports responsible for enforcing policy regulations, said the suspension was a result of Won "failing to fully cooperate with the Tournament Operator's investigation." This transgression is in direct violation of Rule 8.1 of the Valorant Global Competition Policy, the committee said in the announcement.The committee detailed how it came to suspend Won. During the course of the investigation, the Competitive Operations team deferred the process of fact-gathering to the authorities after it learned that the matter was brought to law enforcement. As the investigation was underway, the committee said it had "serious concerns with [Won's] conduct." The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon has been renewed by NBC for five more years, according to Deadline. As also reported by that publication, this news comes after it was announced that host Fallon extended his contract in November, after his previous contract ran through the end of 2021.There was little, to the point of almost zero, doubt that Fallon would be staying on with both The Tonight Show and the network. The late-night host, the sixth for the long-running Tonight Show franchise, has steered this incarnation of the show since 2014 and is currently involved in six projects for the network--an explosive and impressive run that started with the performer joining the cast of Saturday Night Live back in 1998.Fallon's renewal and extension comes as, meanwhile, NBC has canceled Lilly Singh's NBC late-night talk show, A Little Late, after two years on the air. Variety is reporting that the network is exploring filling the time slot with something that isn't a talk show, but no announcements with concrete plans have been made. Actor John Boyega (The Rise of Skywalker, Small Axe) is set to reunite with writer-director Joe Cornish on Attack the Block 2, a sequel to the film that arguably launched both their careers back in 2011. According to Deadline, Boyega will be reprising his role as low-level crook Moses in a film that, like its predecessor, is expected to straddle several genres including sci-fi, horror, and comedy.In the original movie, Moses and his teenage street gang defend themselves from vicious alien invaders who touch down on Guy Fawkes Night. The film, whose cast included Jodie Whittaker (Broadchurch), Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz), and rapper Paigey Cakey, was a cult hit that landed better with critics than audiences--that the film is getting a sequel is a testament to the growing stature and celebrity of all those involved.Deadline is also reporting that Boyega will co-produce Attack the Block 2, with Cornish writing, directing, and also producing. The voice actor for Guilty Gear Xrd's Ramlethal Valentine won't return to voice the character in the Strive sequel. On June 4 the next season of Beat Shazam arrives on Hulu. That's a show where people have to guess the titles of songs faster than a computer. Who is better at recognizing songs, man or machine? On June 18, the new season of Holy Moly arrives, which is extreme mini-golf. Does that sound silly? Yes, it does. As part of Pokemon Go's Luminous Legends Y event (which begins tomorrow, May 18), developer Niantic has kicked off a Team Go Rocket challenge in the game. If players around the world can collectively defeat 25 million Team Go Rocket grunts by May 23, Niantic will unlock a handful of bonuses for the second part of the event, including a new Shiny Pokemon.The bonuses will go live beginning May 25. First, all players will receive triple the normal amount of XP for catching Pokemon for the remainder of the event. On top of that, Galarian Zigzagoon will begin appearing in one-star Raid Battles. This opens up more opportunities to catch the regional variant in Pokemon Go.Perhaps most enticing of all, Niantic will also introduce Shiny Galarian Zigzagoon to the game if players can complete the challenge. As summer nears, Marvel Studios' TV machine is starting to ramp up. Loki has turned into one of our most-anticipated Disney+ shows, and the wait ahead is getting shorter. Along with the trickster god, Disney+ will be getting singing teens, and a bunch of new library titles.June 9 marks the beginning of Marvel's third Disney+ TV series, Loki. While one version of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) sacrificed himself for the good of the universe in Avengers: Infinity War, time travel always gets weird. The version of Loki fresh off his defeat by the Avengers in 2012 got his hands on the Tesseract and disappeared into the time stream. The series, starring Hiddleston, picks up with his capture by the TVA--the Time Variance Authority. Loki has to make up for his time crimes, working with TVA middle manager Mobius M. Mobius, played by co-star Owen Wilson.It's not all time trickery, though. The critically-acclaimed Raya and the Last Dragon joins the library alongside Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Us Again. X-Men Origins: Wolverine joins the growing library of Fox-produced Marvel projects on the service as well. The second day of Final Fantasy Fan Fest 2021 kicked off with a Live Letter From the Producer that outlined the next major update to Final Fantasy XIV. Director and producer Naoki Yoshida led the presentation and detailed what's coming to patch 5.55 with regards to the new main story quests, the Save the Queen questline, the full PS5 version of the game, and much more. Lead story designer Natsuko Ishikawa also joined the presentation to discuss her work in creating FFXIV's narrative.Patch 5.55 is set to go live on May 25 and it'll be the last major update leading into the upcoming Endwalker expansion. Additionally, the PS5 version of the game will officially go into service on May 25--this updated version of the game went into live beta in April and has been playable ever since for owners of the PS4 version playing on PS5, so the official service date is more of a formality, but it's the date nonetheless. FFXIV on the PS5 supports native 4K resolution, higher frame rates, a high resolution UI, DualSense haptic feedback, new trophies, and 3D audio support. There are also graphics options for 1440p resolution and better frame rate and 1080p for an even consistent frame rate. Owners of the PS4 version of the game can upgrade to the PS5 version for free.
