If entertainer and stunt performer Steve-O's recent interviews and online content are anything to gauge Jackass 4 by, the upcoming newest entry in the franchise sounds like it truly will outdo its predecessors. In a recent video uploaded to his personal YouTube account, Steve-O revealed that, for the film, he successfully convinced a doctor to paralyze him from the waist down for a stunt. And that's just for starters."Dude, everything that's about to happen right now is all bad, I love it." says Steve-O in the clip. Later, he explains that he "might have actually talked a doctor into dressing up as a clown so that he could put a four-inch needle into my spine and inject me with a drug that would paralyze me from the waist down while I was sprinting and before all kinds of terrible s*** happened to me."If just reading about these sorts of antics is too much for you--or you scoff at even considering them antics--it likely goes without saying you don't need to watch the above video, which shows a few moments of the aforementioned injection and focuses on how Steve-O prepared for the movie. And if you think this sounds bad, bear in mind that co-star Johnny Knoxville suffered a brain hemorrhage as a result of a stunt he filmed for Jackass 4.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Valve is apparently getting back in the "Steam console" business. According to data mined from Steam files and independent reporting, the company is in the process of building a handheld gaming PC to run Steam games--and it seems like it'll be quite similar to a Nintendo Switch. The rumor of the Steam handheld was originally posted on Steam Database's Twitter account, which stated that hints were hidden in the latest Steam client beta update. Later, Ars Technica reported that it was able to independently confirm many of the details of the handheld, which may be called the SteamPal. Although that name is based on Steam DB's review of the client files, it has not been confirmed.Steam's logo. The console will literally be a miniaturized PC ergonomically designed to hold in your hands like a Nintendo Switch, and it'll run a version of Linux. It will have gamepad controls and a touchscreen, much like the Switch (but without removable controllers). The SteamPal's comparisons to the Switch don't stop at its form factor: It will also allow you to connect to a larger screen via a USB-C port.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Dave Bautista is an in-demand actor thanks to his roles in movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and Army of the Dead, but the 52-year-old actor has a few dream roles he's still chasing. Bautista revealed his dream roles in a new interview with Polygon."I've given a lot of thought to inspiration stories I could play, interesting stories I could play. And the one that seems to keep coming back to me is Ernest Hemingway. If I could play any character, I still think it would be him. I think I could do him justice," Bautista said. "I think he's so interesting, everything about his life and the way he lived, and also the way he died."Ernest Hemingway was an American author known as much for his influential stories like Old Man and the Sea and A Farewell to Arms as he was for his adventurous lifestyle, which included four marriages, driving an ambulance in World War I, covering the Spanish Civil War as a journalist, and two plane crashes on successive days in Africa, just to name a few. Hemingway died by suicide in 1961.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Westeros is a massive, fleshed-out world full of stories to tell. With the main Game of Thrones story concluded, HBO is looking to mine George R.R. Martin's fantasy universe of every story they can find. The latest Game of Thrones spinoff to see movement at the network is 10,000 Ships, which now has its writer according to a report from Deadline.Amanda Segel will write the spinoff series for HBO according to the report. Segel previously wrote and produced on shows like Person of Interest, The Mist, Nikita, and The Good Wife. 10,000 Ships is set one thousand years before the events of the Game of Thrones television show and A Song of Ice and Fire novels. The story follows the journey by Nymeria (after whom Arya Stark's direwolf is named) and the Rhoynars from Essos to Dorne following their defeat by the Valyrians. If you're a huge Game of Thrones fan and you haven't heard of this one, don't worry--HBO is getting pretty obscure here. Nymeria's story is mentioned a few times during the novel series; the companion book The World of Ice & Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones goes into more detail, but this is not a book you've missed out on somewhere or anything like that.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

When you think of a private detective, you might see a tough guy in a felt fedora, cigarette perched above his chiseled jaw, puffing moodily in an office chair with the blinds drawn. If Nintendo has anything to say about it, though, next time you picture a gumshoe it will be a skinny, teenage boy who can't remember his own name. That's because the publisher has resurrected both Famicom Detective Club outings: The Missing Heir and The Girl Who Stands Behind. This pair of adventure games debuted on the NES in the late ‘80s and cast players as a kid sleuth solving crimes in rural Japan. These remakes are impressively thorough, eschewing the pixelated graphics of the originals for a striking anime-inspired look and full Japanese voice acting. Mechanically, both titles are still products of their time and, as a result, progressing through the story can sometimes be frustratingly opaque. But, the stories themselves--particularly The Missing Heir's--are compelling enough that I was willing to put up with some outdated design to see them through to their twisty conclusions.Gallery In Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir, your 17-year-old protagonist wakes up at the foot of a cliff with no memory of how he got there or who he is. With a little help from the man who found him, he heads back to his job as an assistant sleuth at the Utsugi Detective Agency. The eponymous detective is nowhere to be found so our forgetful friend--who I dubbed Philip Marlowe, after Raymond Chandler's PI--must work to solve a case with his fellow assistant detective, Ayumi Tachibana. The case in question involves the death of Kiku Ayashiro, matriarch of the rich and powerful Ayashiro clan and chairwoman of the corporation that made them rich and powerful in the first place. While the autopsy results suggest that Kiku died of natural causes, the family butler Zenzou suspects foul play. Prior to your amnesia, he had hired you to investigate her death. As you begin again, you have two mysteries to solve: who murdered Kiku, and who were you before you lost your memory.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Rainbow Six Siege designer's notes have dropped for its upcoming season, Y6S2, and it seems that it will bring a slate of overarching changes that have the potential to change the face of the entire game. These proposed shifts include giving players the ability to use limited offensive tools after death, nerfing the usefulness of bullet holes, and replacing armor with fixed HP. Many of these changes are already live on Siege's test server. The biggest philosophical change that could come to the game is the ability for dead players to affect the game after their untimely demise. Referred to by Ubisoft as "gameplay after death," and currently live on the game's test server, this allows attackers to continue to use their drones and gadgets after they die to give their living allies valuable intel. Currently, dead players can only cycle through camera angles to give intel to their living teammates. To help mitigate the potentially-devastating impact of this change, Ubisoft has given defenders a few more options to counter drones, including a reworked bulletproof camera and a counter that keeps track of the number of drones that they have captured or destroyed. Additionally, the game's designers have reworked the flow of post-death replays in order to make it easier for attackers to take advantage of their new abilities.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Chris Metzen. Mike Morhaime. Jeff Kaplan. Blizzard has seen numerous big name-departures from the studio in recent years, and as a new report on the acclaimed studio details, many of those who leave Blizzard are going indie.IGN recently spoke with numerous sources both inside and out of Blizzard for a new report that describes the prestigious developer as a company at a crossroads. Of particular note is just how many former Blizzard developers are either forming or joining new indie game studios.Helping to spark that change is none other than former Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime, who retired from Blizzard in 2019 after more than two decades. In 2020, he founded Dreamhaven, a video game company with the goal of empowering "agile studios to focus on their craft and bring their ideas to life," while "providing support and resources over the long term." Three development studios are currently under the Dreamhaven banner: Moonshot Games, Secret Door, and Lightforge Games. Each studio has attracted a wealth of former Blizzard talent.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Doom is now playable through a GIF image hosted at fanfiction site Archive of Our Own (aka AO3), which is quite the achievement. A software engineer named Andrew Sillers exploited the way that GIF images are loaded by websites like AO3 in order to add new frames to the end of a "looping" image, meaning that you can essentially stream a game or animation as a GIF.You can find more info on how Sillers managed to achieve this in his video talk on the topic for BangBangCon, which he conducted earlier in May. The AO3 page allows anyone viewing the page to add inputs to a queue similar to the method used by Twitch Plays Pokemon. As you might expect, this crowdsourced approach seems to lead to a dead Doomguy more often than not. Also, to be absolutely clear, this is FreeDoom, an free, open-source offshoot of the original game. The original Doom is still under copyright.I'm proud to have debuted the world's first GIF-based port of Doom on AO3 at #virtualbangbangcon! Play it at https://t.co/2XlRODhnnf pic.twitter.com/HGXTWL6FTf — Andrew Sillers (@apsillers) May 18, 2021This GIF-based source port of Doom is the latest in the ongoing struggle to run Doom on the most unexpected and bizarre devices imaginable. For example, hackers have managed to get the landmark shooter running on the Touch Bar of a MacBook Pro and on a pregnancy test. Last year, a YouTuber managed to get the game running on 700 potato slices and a graphing calculator, using a chemical reaction within the potatoes to provide the electricity. Now that's potato power.Info from Gamespot.com

While Fortnite challenges normally launch weekly on Thursdays, Epic is known to add other challenges at other intervals. It seems as though newly leaked Foreshadowing Quests, as they've been described by dataminers, are on their way separate from the weekly challenges. More excitingly, they may be hinting at the theme for Fortnite Season 7.Shared online by a number of dataminers, these Foreshadowing Quests don't yet have a known release date, but their arrival appears imminent since Season 6 is scheduled to end in early June. As of now, there appears to be five Foreshadowing Quests. Here's the list:Fortnite Foreshadowing QuestsRepair damaged telescopes (0/?)Investigate downed black helicopterUse CB radioPlace warning signs at crop circleDestroy spooky TV sets (0/?)While these quests may not hint at the Season 7 theme, they certainly have a consistent theme of their own, that being conspiracies and the supernatural. Furthering this theory is the associated NPC dialogue that players will read as they embark on these challenges. Things like Farmer Steel decrying, "Pranksters, aliens, whatever you are. If you come for my corn, there's gonna be trouble" seems to suggest these quests, and perhaps Season 7, will dabble with the unknown. Naturally, Fortnite's resident conspiracy theorist Bunker Jonesy is involved too, saying to players at one point, "it's almost like someone doesn't want us looking at the stars."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
