Thanks to the popularity of Dark Souls, there's no shortage of stylish 2D "Souls-like" games out there these days, and one of the more impressive-looking ones is coming to Nintendo Switch later this month. That game is called Ender Lilies: Quietus Of The Knights, and it's been in Early Access on Steam since January 2021.Since release, Ender Lilies has received very positive reviews from Steam users, including more than 200 "thumbs up" reviews in the past 30 days. The game has a striking anime-meets-Souls art style that should be familiar to fans of From Software's work, as well as popular metroidvania games like Hollow Knight.Unlike other "Souls-like" games, where you play as a warrior or a mage who slowly gains in power, you battle your foes in Ender Lilies by summoning bodyguards to help you out. In this way, the game strongly resembles the "Stands" made famous by Japanese media franchise JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, or perhaps the Personas from the Persona series. Ender Lilies will come to Nintendo Switch on June 22, the same day that the PC version will leave Early Access. The game will come to PS5 via PS4 backward compatibility on July 6. PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst has shed some new light on Sony's approach to releasing games on PC. In an interview on the PlayStation Blog, Hulst said it's still early days, so there is no hard-and-fast strategy at this point. That said, Hulst noted that Horizon Zero Dawn's PC edition was "very successful," which demonstrates that people are interested in playing PlayStation games on a PC.At the same time, Hulst stressed that Sony's efforts on PC will never come at the expense of "building an exciting lineup of great console games." He also suggested that you will not see day-and-date releases for PlayStation console games on PC like Microsoft does with its exclusives."I want to emphasize that PlayStation will remain the best place to play our PlayStation Studios titles at launch," he said. It's officially June, and that means E3 is almost upon us. The show has been in a state of flux for years, and last year's, in particular, was completely upended by COVID-19. With things still not fully back to normal on that front--and publishers perhaps beginning to favor new strategies for publicizing their games--E3 2021 will again look quite different than what you've likely become accustomed to in years past. We nonetheless have some idea of what to expect, even if the list of confirmed events and games is remarkably light at this point.To some degree, E3 2021 will resemble what last year's gaming events smorgasbord looked like. It'll be all-digital, with a number of publishers hosting their own showcase events--although the E3 press conference schedule remains very much up in the air. Less than two weeks out from the show, there are still many question marks about who will be having showcases (Square Enix? Will Sony do something of its own?). But we do know that the first big day will be Saturday, June 12, which will feature Ubisoft Forward, followed by Xbox and Bethesda's joint showcase on June 13. It's actually looking as if the weekend may be the busiest time for press conferences, rather than the more Monday-heavy shows of the past. But again, we're still awaiting the finalized schedule despite how imminent it all is; we only just got word on the Nintendo Direct less than two weeks before it's set to take place.After two years in a row of summer teases for new gaming hardware, this year should be more focused on the games. That's not to say hardware won't be showcased--we're sure to see many games that leverage what the new current-gen consoles are capable of now that it's in (some) people's hands, be it ray tracing, faster load times, or new types of experiences. Electronic Arts has hired the former general manager of Call of Duty and Destiny from Activision to become the GM of Battlefield going forward.Byron Beede is now the SVP and GM of Battlefield, and in that role he'll help guide the Battlefield team into the future. At Activision, he helped launch a handful of live service projects that became massively successful, including Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Mobile.According to IGN, Beede's main focus at EA is what comes next after this year's new Battlefield game and the new Battlefield mobile game in 2022. Walmart Deals for Day is returning later this month, and it's directly competing with Prime Day 2021, which Amazon confirmed earlier today will be June 21 and 22. Walmart Deals For Days will start earlier and run longer, going from June 20-23, according to CNET. Nintendo has finally confirmed the date and time of its E3 2021 Direct. The 40-minute presentation will take place on Tuesday, June 15, at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET, the final day of E3. The Dark Portal to Outland may have just opened, but many players in one of the world's top World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic raiding guilds have already reached level 70.According to Wowhead, a five-man group consisting of members of the guild Progress have claimed the title of world-first level 70s in Burning Crusade Classic, with player Hacez hitting the milestone first. Other members of Hacez's group hit 70 shortly after. The total time to hit the game's newly released level cap was about 13 hours.The group achieved the feat by stockpiling completed quests at level 60 and turning them in as soon as Burning Crusade Classic launched for some quick experience. From there, the group spammed dungeons for hours on end until hitting level 70. Atari's long in-the-works new console, the Atari VCS, is set to launch on June 15, the company announced. Via Game Informer, the Atari VCS will retail for $300, with a bundle including two controllers retailing for $400. Bundle purchasers will be able to choose between two colors, Black Walnut or Onyx. The base version of the console comes only in Onyx. The console will be available via Best Buy, GameStop, Micro Center, and the official Atari VCS website.Third-party controller maker PowerA created two new controllers for the Atari VCS: one inspired by the classic Atari 2600 joystick, and a more modern game controller that Xbox and PlayStation players will instantly be familiar with. Both controllers are wireless, charge via USB-C, and sport rumble functionality as well as LED lights.
