Red Dead Redemption 2's release has come for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Those who prefer to play games on PC may be rewarded with their patience eventually, but as of now we have no indication that Red Dead 2 will ever come to PC. That doesn't mean there is no hope at all, though. So far the studio has given no official indication of a PC port incoming. There was some hope when a programmer seemingly outed a PC version online, but it remains unclear if that was merely a mistake. [Update: The latest glimmer of hope for PC fans comes via Rockstar Intel, which reports that the Red Dead 2 companion app includes references to PC in its code. It's possible these don't mean anything or are being misinterpreted, but it does bear noting.]The most recent Rockstar game, Grand Theft Auto V, did make the jump to PC after its initial console release. Following its original release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013, Rockstar released upgraded Playstation 4 and Xbox One ports the following year, and then a PC port in 2015. Those later ports were widely lauded for their improved technical underpinnings, and the PC version has enjoyed an active mod community.Red Dead Redemption 2 appears very similar to GTAV in key ways. It's a technical powerhouse that's already pushing the current console generation to its limit. While the Xbox One X came out ahead in a performance analysis, both it and the high-end PS4 Pro were said to be hitting the upper limits of their processing power. We may be on the verge of another console generation to debut in the next few years, so a port to those with some added bells and whistles could make sense. And if that happens, a PC port would be likely as well. Plus Red Dead 2 is already receiving positive reviews and helping Take-Two's stock price, so another shot in the arm from a port would be welcome for the company. Then again, Rockstar has been inconsistent with ports in general and PC support more specifically. The original Red Dead Redemption never made the trip to PC, and in fact is still only available on PS3 and Xbox 360--along with Xbox One, via backwards compatibility.Red Dead Redemption 2 could come to PC in a matter of years, but for the time being, your best bet is to saddle up on the current generation of consoles. If you need some help recalling the events of the first game, check out our story recap. Your console decision may come down to performance--keeping in mind that Xbox One X performed the best in a test, but PS4 has exclusive content for 30 days.Info from Gamespot.com

Xbox boss Phil Spencer is among those showering praise for Rockstar's new release, Red Dead Redemption 2. Posting on Twitter, Spencer said he wants everyone to play the new game, whether that be on Xbox or PlayStation. He also mentioned PC, but, while the game is rumoured to launch for computers, Rockstar hasn't made any official announcements yet.Spencer's comments came in response to his retweet of a story that boasted that the Xbox One X version of Red Dead Redemption 2 looks better than the PS4 Pro edition. "Of course I'm a bit biased ... but honestly most important is just to play RDR2. Play it on a [PS4 Pro], play it on an [Xbox One S], play it on PC. Of course I'm proud of how [Xbox One X] performs, but the game quality is the true commitment here."Of course I'm a bit biased....but honestly most important is just play RDR2. Play it on a Pro, play it on an S, play it on PC. I just RT'd their headline, it autofills from their site. Of course I'm proud of how X performs but the game quality is the true accomplishment here. — Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) October 25, 2018Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on October 26 for PS4 and Xbox One. It was a massive success right away, generating $725 million in revenue over its first three days. There have been rumours and hints about a PC edition coming later, but as of yet Rockstar has made no official announcements. Red Dead Redemption 1 was never released on PC, but Rockstar's previous game, Grand Theft Auto V, did eventually come to PC. Ubisoft has announced live-action adaptions for two of its games. The developer is working on scripts for a TV series based on Child of Light and a film about the event of Werewolves Within.According to Variety, both adaptions are a part of Ubisoft's Women's Film and Television Fellowship, a program conceived in 2017 to "illuminate female voices within the entertainment industry." Both adaptations are being written by two of the fellows, Mishna Wolff and Tasha Huo. After being selected, both women were offered the chance to pick one of Ubisoft's games to transform into a movie or TV series. Wolff wanted to adapt Werewolves Within while Huo picked Child of Light."[The game] kept popping into my head," Wolff said, in regards to her decision to adapt Werewolves Within. "It was just demanding I tell a story." Huo knew she wanted to tackle Child of Light before even starting the fellowship. "We love that the game centers around Aurora discovering strength," Huo said. "I love video games and I'm passionate about them, but you want people who have never heard of these games to fall in love with them.""We were so thrilled with the outcome of this fellowship, it is exactly what we wanted," Ubisoft director of film Margaret Boykin said. "We were so lucky to work with these two women." Ubisoft is also putting together an upcoming movie based on the Rabbids games, Tom Clancy's The Division, and the Splinter Cell games. The developer is also working on a sequel for 2016's Assassin's Creed and movies about Watch Dogs and Far Cry.Child of Light is a 2014 platformer RPG where players take control of a young, selfish princess named Aurora, who one night falls asleep and awakens in another world called Lemuria. After she befriends a firefly named Igniculus, Aurora is told to collect the stars, sun, and moon and return light to Lemuria. She meets an odd assortment of individuals on her quest, and together the group of misfits mature and grow together. In our Child of Light review, we gave the game an 8/10, congratulating it on its willingness to "explore the dull ache" of woe and enjoying its "interesting and engaging" combat.Werewolves Within is a 2016 spin on the party game Mafia. A VR title, players sit around a campfire in a small town meeting. Some players are secretly werewolves while everyone else are ordinary townsfolk. The werewolves must keep their identity a secret to win, while the other players use clues to try and deduce who amongst them isn't really human. In our Werewolves Within review, we gave the game a 7/10, describing its matches as "hair-raising, pulse-quickening experiences" but wishing there was more there to get players to "return to the game."Info from Gamespot.com

Editor's note: After two years in beta, Gwent is now a standalone game. It released alongside Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, a single-player game with Gwent mechanics. While the Gwent and Thronebreaker are connected, they are separate applications, and we have reviewed them separately. You can read or watch our full Thronebreaker review or read on for our full Gwent review. In The Witcher 3, Gwent was an enjoyable but arduous side activity, only rewarding for those patient enough to scour the open world in search of more powerful playing cards. If you weren't inclined to do that, you'd miss out on much of what made Gwent a unique take on collectible card games. Gwent, now a free, standalone multiplayer game, gives you the room and resources to really enjoy it. Its rules are shaken up to provide an even playing field for veterans and newcomers alike, and it establishes a deeply rewarding loop that encourages you to stick with whichever of its various factions interest you most.Gwent's fundamentals haven't changed much since The Witcher 3. You're still restricted to playing one card per turn, with the goal of attaining a higher power value than your opponent in each of three total rounds. Each card has an individual power value attached, and your total score will increase the more cards you commit to each round. If you feel as though you're outmatched or similarly far enough ahead in any one round, you can choose to pass and save your current hand for the next. Given that your ability to draw new cards is limited, having more cards in your hand gives you a tangible advantage. Gwent rewards calculated restraint, which makes knowing when to fold and when to go all in an important part of its strategy. The big differences lie in the structure of the board. Previously Gwent featured three rows, one for each type of unit. That's been reduced to just two now--melee and ranged--and you're free to choose either for your units. Certain units will have abilities that you can only activate when spawned on a certain row, while other units that deal damage to enemies will have their range limited to one or two rows ahead of them. With fewer limitations on card placement, you're able to play Gwent with more fluidity. Experimentation with row-specific abilities and how they link up with cards already in play affects the board in significant ways during a single turn. These new rules keep rounds unpredictable at times and let the tide of the skirmish shift frequently. Having to decide between a big play or holding back for subsequent rounds makes for an engaging test of strategy, with no single approach being best in all scenarios. The flexibility doesn't help the stagnant pace of matches, though, where each player turn feels far more drawn out than it should. Given the limited number of actions you can take a turn, it's frustrating to watch an opponent stall on playing a single card. Gwent could also benefit from more helpful visual feedback on card abilities and triggers, as I often found myself fumbling a play by placing a card into the wrong row simply because I missed a single word of text on the card itself. Boards should ideally give you more contextual information to work with when you select a card, so that you're not stuck reading each card repeatedly to make sure you're making the right play.Cards are segmented into five different Factions, each of which requires a distinct strategy to play effectively. The noble Northern Realms specialize in cards with abilities like Deploy (which are triggered when you play a card) and Order (which you manually activate after meeting certain conditions). Monsters, conversely, enjoy strategies laden with Deathwishes that unleash often devastating chains of events when certain creatures die and head to the graveyard. You'll have a starting deck for each Faction when you initially begin Gwent which helps in familiarizing you with each of their differences. But it's also important to experiment with and figure out which Faction speaks to your style of play, and you'll have to decide where to invest your rewards from wins as you go.Reward trees sprawl out on parchment maps, with one for each Faction and sub-trees for each of their respective Captain characters. Nodes on these maps can be unlocked with Reward Points, which you'll earn frequently by completing challenges in-game. These can be as easy as playing a certain number of cards during a match, or as complicated as eliminating a large number of enemy cards in a single turn. Unlocking nodes rewards you in multiple ways, including small gifts of in-game currencies and big bundles of card packs called Kegs. Each map rewards you with respect to the Faction it belongs to, incentivizing you to spend points on the Factions you play most. It emphasizes the need to experiment with different factions and settle on your favorites beforehand, as the influx of Reward Points slows down after clearing many of the easier challenges.In-game currencies are plentiful in Gwent, and each serves familiar purposes. There's one that acts as the standard fare for purchasing new card packs, another that helps in the crafting of new cards, and a third that can be used to spruce up existing cards into shinier, animated versions of themselves. Gwent rewards you well for match wins (and additionally for matches where your opponent congratulates you, which is a nice touch) which makes progression towards your next card pack feel balanced. Combined with currency rewards you'll get from reward trees, I found it easy to amass a large amount of each resource in a handful of hours. Gwent is generous with how it rewards the time you invest in it, giving you the means to build up a formidable collection of cards before tempting you to spend real money on it.Gwent clearly learns from other digital collectible card games that have carved their niche out of the market, but its play style offers up an entirely different type of challenge. That's not to say that time will eventually come, unless you're planning to keep up with the shifting metagame that CCGs generally employ to keep things fresh. Gwent's in-game store gives you many options for purchasing bundles of resources and some alluring starter packs that reward you with a generous number of Kegs to open.Gwent clearly learns from other digital collectible card games that have carved their niche out of the market, but its play style offers up an entirely different type of challenge. It's one that requires some investment, and hard decisions on which Faction you'd like to invest in, but Gwent also respects your time by rewarding you for nearly every action in a match, tempting you to play just one more. Its matches could use some fine-tuning in their pacing and presentation, but Gwent is otherwise a refreshingly new take on card games that establishes itself firmly outside of the simple side activity it was in The Witcher 3.Info from Gamespot.com

The PlayStation Store's Sale of the Dead runs through November 2, but that hasn't stopped Sony from launching a new sale this week. This one is called the Double Discount Sale because, while everyone gets up to 30% off the games on the list, PS Plus members get--drumroll--double the discount. That's what Sony is advertising, anyway, though some of the PS Plus discounts actually seem bigger. In any case, the sale ends November 13, so let's take a look at the best deals you can get between now and then.Ubisoft has dropped prices on much of its PS4 back catalog, with discounts on Assassin's Creed and Far Cry games in particular. If bang for your buck is what you're after, you can grab Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection for $34 ($17 with PS Plus). It contains Assassin's Creed II, plus Brotherhood and Revelations. The final week of Destiny 2's Festival of the Lost has kicked off, and with it comes the last big piece of the three-week Halloween-themed event. It's a murder mystery quest line Bungie teased at the start of the Festival, in which players are tasked with figuring out what happened to Master Ives, the Cryptarch formerly seen in the Reef back in the first Destiny.Ives' death is both a story point and, some Destiny 2 players suspect, a quest to get a new Exotic weapon. That gun is Thunderlord, a lightning-slinging machine gun from the original Destiny that hasn't shown up yet in the sequel, which recent datamining leaks have suggested is going to pop up in the Festival. So far, the quest to find Master Ives' killer does have the hallmarks of an Exotic quest line. To start it, head to Amanda Holliday in the Tower, where you'll receive Master Ives' journal. The pursuit item is colored gold, like other Exotic weapons quests, and requires players to search out the missing pages from Ives' diary out in the world.Clearing that first step is actually pretty easy to accomplish. There are 10 pages to acquire, and players can get them either by finding Legendary engrams in various activities--including Gambit, the Crucible, Strikes, and everything else you already do in Destiny 2--or from killing tougher Fallen enemies in the EDZ on Earth.Actually snagging all the pages is an easy feat to knock out if you head to the EDZ. You're looking for Fallen with orange-colored health bars, which are otherwise known as Elite bad guys. You need the orange enemies in particular; you won't get pages from Majors, who have yellow health bars, like the ones designated as high-value targets, for instance. The quickest way to find Elite Fallen to kill in the EDZ is to find a public event and join it. The Glimmer Mining event that takes place in various places in the EDZ is a solid bet, especially if you knock it up to its Heroic level. You won't get a page for every Elite you kill, but the drop rate is pretty high--one or two public events should do it.Once you've completed that step, you'll have to wait. According to the description on the pursuit, Holliday needs time to decrypt the pages Master Ives created in order to find out what happened to him, and she'll contact players when that's done. It seems likely that the next step will unlock on Wednesday, October 31, to give players a little something to do each day through the final week of the Festival of the Lost. We'll follow up with more information on how to track down Master Ives' killer (and maybe get Thunderlord) once the next steps become available.Info from Gamespot.com

Red Dead Redemption 2 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One places players in the tougher times that Dutch Van der Linde's gang faced. As one of its key members, main character Arthur Morgan's adventures will see him completing critical missions to ensure the health and fortune of its members are maintained. Along the way, however, players will also be given opportunities to spend time with the various gang members in the camp doing activities such as hunting or going out on shopping trips. These side-missions, while not critical to the main story, provide a great deal of characterization and colour to the overall experience. However, many of them can be time-sensitive in their availability. RDR 2 doesn't make this abundantly clear, but if you let them linger too long in favour of pursuing the main missions, or even other side-activities, they can vanish. At certain points, progressing the story will lock you out of these little missions, and you don't want to miss out on them. It's easy to distinguish between what's part of the main path and what's not, as the missions focused on the core narrative appear as yellow icons on the map. Camp activities, however, appear as white icons. They can be tricky to see at times, so make sure you're regularly checking by bringing up the map and giving it a good inspection for them. As mentioned before, these missions may be your only opportunity to spend time with the folks that aren't out robbing trains and gunning down outlaws in the name of the Van der Linde gang, but their missions are valuable nonetheless.GameSpot's Red Dead Redemption 2 review is live now, and the game received a 9/10. Kallie Plagge says it is "an excellent prequel, but it's also an emotional, thought-provoking story in its own right, and it's a world that is hard to leave when it's done."We've got a bunch of features and guides for Red Dead Redemption 2 players to check out both before they start playing and while they are in the thick of it. First up is a collection of tips you should read before starting (you can also watch a video of them). This is spoiler-free information that the game provides over the course of multiple hours, but if you know it from the outset it is very helpful. We've also guides on how the morality and honor systems work, how to make money in Red Dead Redemption 2, and some information on how weapon customization functions. For more on the game, watch Quickdraw, our weekly Red Dead Redemption 2 video series. In the first episode we analyzed the various Rockstar games that have had an influence on the open-world western sequel. The second episode, which you can watch in the video above, is a story recap of the original Red Dead Redemption.Info from Gamespot.com

As we enter the final days of October, you might have Halloween on the mind. But there's more to life in the lead-up to November than ghosts, ghouls, candy, and costume parties. Xbox Live Gold members are running out of time to download October's Games with Gold. Once November 1 rolls around, you'll lose your chance to pick up free Xbox One and Xbox 360 games. The Xbox One game in question is Overcooked, a co-op cooking game that drops you in increasingly unlikely kitchen scenarios. These might take place on a busy street, during an earthquake, or on a ship being buffeted by waves. Each cooking environment offers its own set of challenges as you and your partners try to make meals to order under tight time restrictions. The Xbox 360 game--which can also be played on Xbox One--is Hitman: Blood Money. The fourth game in the series, it begins with Agent 47's higher-ups being targeted by a mysterious organization that wants them dead. Your job is to make your way through sandbox levels and using creative methods to assassinate your targets as you figure out who's behind the bad deeds. One of the month's free games will remain available into November. That's the Xbox One dungeon crawler Victor Vran, a game about hunting monsters like skeletons and vampires; it's available until November 15. As for the rest of November's games, we'll have to wait for the official announcement from Microsoft, which should be coming very soon.October 2018 Games with GoldXbox OneOvercooked (October 1-31)Victor Vran (October 16-November 15)Xbox 360Stuntman: Ignition (October 1-15)Hitman: Blood Money (October 16-31) Info from Gamespot.com

Here's a great deal for anyone looking to expand their Xbox One game collection to include a pair of major recent releases. The Ebay seller Antonline (which is a legitimate outfit that often has good deals) is selling brand-new copies of Red Dead Redemption 2 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider as a pair for $70. That's a fantastic deal, considering buying both games separately would normally cost $120. So if you've had your eye on these titles, you might as well get them now and save $50. Stock is limited, so you'll want to hurry. You can grab this deal here.Red Dead Redemption 2 is the newest game from Rockstar. It's a prequel to the previous game, taking place in 1899 as the Van der Linde gang is on the run from the law and committing crimes as they make their way across a vast swath of America. In our Red Dead Redemption 2 review, Kallie Plagge wrote, "Red Dead Redemption 2 is an excellent prequel, but it's also an emotional, thought-provoking story in its own right, and it's a world that is hard to leave when it's done."Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which came out mid-September, continues the story begun in the 2013 series reboot. Here, Lara Croft goes on an adventure to stop a Mayan apocalypse that her tomb raiding set in motion. "Thankfully," Edmond Tran wrote in our Shadow of the Tomb Raider review, "the parts of Tomb Raider that make it really fantastic--uncovering the mystery of ancient ruins, solving impressive challenge tombs, and exploring exotic environments--are still here in Shadow, and they are just as outstanding as they have always been."Even if you only want to play one of these games, this deal might be worth jumping on, because you can make more than $10 by selling or trading the other one in. Just don't wait too long, because stock could run out at any time.Info from Gamespot.com

The biggest shopping day of the year is Black Friday, and this year's monster sales event lands on November 23, which will be here before you know it. It's the time when all the biggest retailers drop prices on all kinds of items--from video games and movies to TVs and furniture--in an effort to make a killing as the holiday shopping season begins.Just like with any situation that can put a hefty strain on your bank account, it's best to go into Black Friday prepared. We've already covered what to expect from Black Friday 2018, but below we've compiled some of the smartest ways to save as much money as possible on the things you want, while still being financially responsible.1. Make a List BeforehandOnce the deals start to appear, it's easy to get swept up in the hype and go on a spending spree. When that happens, though, it's all too easy to end up with a pile of items you don't actually need. If you make a list of all of the items you really want before the Black Friday deals start to appear, you'll be better prepared to stick to the list and let the inessential deals pass you by, no matter how good the prices are.2. Check the AdsNearly all of the big retailers that participate in Black Friday--with the exception of Amazon--release Black Friday ads a week or two before the big event. You can find these pretty easily on their websites. Take a look at the ads and make a plan for which items you want to buy, and where. Because stock can run out fast on the best deals, prioritize your purchases and plan what you want to buy and when it will be available.3. Make a BudgetGetting great deals is a positive thing, but overextending yourself financially is not. If money is tight, a central part of your Black Friday planning should be making a budget and pledging to stick to it. Budgeting might not be the most fun or glamorous thing to do, but will help you out enormously in the long run.4. Use Social MediaFor real-time updates on when Black Friday sales go live, your best resource is social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook. You can follow GameSpot Deals on Twitter to find bargains on video games, consoles, and accessories. Another great resource is SlickDeals, a sale-tracking site that surfaces the best deals in just about every product category (it has a Twitter account as well).5. Comparison ShopIf you see a deal you want, it's always a good idea to check the item's price at other retailers before you buy. The only potential issue on Black Friday is missing out on highly sought-after items because you spent too much time looking elsewhere. So unless the deal you're considering is a doorbuster, you don't have anything to lose by exercising due diligence and comparing prices.6. Check Price HistoryUnfortunately, not all of the deals you'll see on Black Friday represent top-of-the-line savings. To make sure the item you're about to buy is a good deal, it's wise to check a price history tracker like Camelcamelcamel. There, you can see how low the price has dropped in the past and how often it fluctuates, which can help you determine if now is a good time to buy.7. Don't Get Bummed If You See a Better Deal LaterOnce Black Friday rolls around, you'll see deals popping up left and right. Doorbusters will go in and out of stock, Amazon's Lightning Deals will flicker into existence before vanishing, and surprise deals will arrive at random. If you make a purchase and then see a better deal later, don't be too upset. For one thing, you might be able to return the item you paid a higher price for. Just make sure to look at the retailer's return policy before buying at the lower price, because you might have to pay a restocking fee or cover the cost of return shipping. At that point, the better deal might not actually save you money once all is said and done. Those are our Black Friday shopping tips. Let us know in the comments if you have tips of your own.Info from Gamespot.com
