As you may have heard, Black Friday is heading our way. In 2018, Black Friday takes place on November 23, and while that might still be a few weeks away, it's never too early to start planning. If you're in the market for a PS4 console, accessories, or games--whether it's a gift for someone else or a gift for yourself--you likely won't find lower prices at any other time of year. When it comes to PS4 consoles, the best deal announced so far is from Target, Best Buy, and Walmart, all of which get you a PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB and Spider-Man as a pack-in game for $200 (or $199 in Walmart's case). That's a great deal, seeing as the console normally costs around $300 and Spider-Man costs $60. Alternately, you can get PlayStation 4 Slim 500 GB from Sam's Club in a pre-Black Friday sale on November 10 for $229, but you'll need a membership. In terms of accessories, another doorbuster Target will offer is a PlayStation VR bundle that comes with a camera, Move controllers, Creed: Rise to Glory, and Superhot VR, all for $250; that deal is mirrored at Best Buy. Also, both Target, Best Buy, and Kohl's will have DualShock 4 controllers available for $40, while Walmart beats them at $39.On the games side of the equation, there's plenty to save money on. The recent release Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will drop to $40 at Walmart. Another recent one, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, will be available for $30. Both Detroit: Become Human and God of War will be available for $25 each, as will Far Cry 5. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is at its cheapest (so far) at Best Buy, where it'll be $30.We've gathered all of the PlayStation 4 deals announced so far into one place so you can get the best deal on whatever it is you're looking for. We'll keep this article updated as more retailers announce their Black Friday plans, so check back later; for now, the big ads we've gotten are from Target, Best Buy, and Walmart. Depending on exactly what you're looking for, you'll be going to a different store. You can find all of the PS4 Black Friday deals below, but you'll have to wait for November 23 to get the discounts.Console DealsPlayStation 4 Slim 1TB and Spider-Man$199 -- Walmart$200 -- Best Buy$200 -- TargetGame DealsAgony$20 - Best BuyArk: Survival Evolvedno price listed - Best BuyAssassin's Creed Odyssey$30 -- Best Buy$35 -- Target$35 -- WalmartAssassin's Creed Origins$20 -- Best Buy$25 -- Target$25 -- WalmartAssassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection$15 -- Best BuyThe Banner Saga Trilogy Bonus Edition$20 -- Best BuyBatman: Arkham Knight$12 -- WalmartBattlefield 1$12 -- WalmartBattlefield 5$60 -- Best Buy [with steelbook and $10 off select game]BioShock: The Collection$20 -- Best BuyBorderlands: The Handsome Collection$12 -- Walmart$15 -- Best BuyBurnout Paradise Remastered$10 -- Best BuyCall of Duty: Advanced Warfare$12 -- WalmartCall of Duty: Black Ops 3 Zombies Chronicles Edition$25 -- Best Buy$25 -- WalmartCall of Duty: Black Ops 4$40 -- Walmart$45 -- Best Buy$45 -- TargetCall of Duty: Ghosts$12 -- WalmartCall of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered$15 -- Best Buy$17 -- WalmartCall of Duty: WWII$25 -- Best Buy [Gold Edition]$25 -- Target$25 -- WalmartCarnival Games$25 -- Best BuyConan Exiles$17 -- Walmart$30 -- Best BuyCrash Bandicoot N. A wildfire in California has claimed, among other locations, a series of iconic movie and TV sets outside of Los Angeles. The Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area announced that the western town portion of Paramount Ranch in Agoura Hills, California has burned down. The sets, which have served as the home of projects like Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, American Sniper, and The Love Bug, has most recently been used by the HBO series Westworld. On the show, it served as the town of Escalante, which was a beta-testing location within the Westworld park. This is eerie. So sad for the history lost. Amazed the church is still standing. #surreal https://t.co/6Xa7cRIWYP — #EvanRachelWould (@evanrachelwood) November 9, 2018Evan Rachel Wood, who stars on Westworld and has done a fair amount of shooting at the location, tweeted, "This is eerie. So sad for the history lost. Amazed the church is still standing." Indeed, the little white church that became so recognizable on the show was one structure that remained unharmed.Thankfully, HBO confirms that no filming for the upcoming season of Westworld was taking place at the time of the fire. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, the network said, "Westworld is not currently in production, and as the area has been evacuated, we do not yet know the extent of the damage to any structures remaining there. Most importantly, our thoughts go out to all those affected by these horrible fires."Sad for fans of @WestworldHBO and shows like Dr Quinn Medicine Woman, the Paramount Ranch western town movie set has burned to the ground in the Woolsey Fire @CBSLA #westworld #Woolseyfire pic.twitter.com/DhZWaGbr6g — John Schreiber (@johnschreiber) November 9, 2018A series of photos from Los Angeles photojournalist John Schreiber show the extent of some of the damage, which sees very little of the sets left standing. "Sad for fans of [Westworld] and shows like Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, the Paramount Ranch western town movie set has burned to the ground in the Woolsey Fire," he wrote. It remains to be seen whether the sets will be rebuilt for future production or if the next season of Westworld will feature the town of Escalante.Info from Gamespot.com

Treyarch has been rolling out updates and patches for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 every few days since the game's release last month, and another one is now available for the title on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. This update primarily resolves some lingering stability issues in Zombies mode, although the developer has also made a few tweaks to Blackout and multiplayer modes as well.On the Zombies side, Treyarch has addressed a handful of crashes that would occur across all maps, as well as some specific to IX, Voyage of Despair, and Blood of the Dead. In particular, the studio fixed an issue that could cause the game to crash when you're near the Mystery Box, as well as one that could occur when a zombie attacks you through a barricade. You can see the full list of fixes in the patch below and on Reddit. In addition to the Zombies improvements, Treyarch has made a few weapon and equipment adjustments in the battle royale-like Blackout mode. Specifically, the developer has "slightly increased" damage from the Paladin HB50 "to reduce headshots required to take out an enemy equipped with Level 3 Armor and 200 Health from a Trauma Kit." Additionally, the studio has given players the ability to change stances after being hit by a concussion grenade.Beyond all the tweaks and bug fixes, Treyarch has kicked off a new weekend event for Black Ops 4. From now until November 12, players will earn Black Market tier progression two times as fast in Blackout and multiplayer modes. Additionally, Zombies players will be able to earn twice the normal amount of Nebulium Plasma. The event is set to end on Monday at 10 AM PT / 1 PM PT.There's still a lot more in store for Black Ops 4. Next week, Treyarch is introducing the fan-favorite Nuketown map to the game on November 13. Thanks to its timed exclusivity agreement with Sony, the map will be available first on PS4 before arriving on Xbox One and PC the following week. The developer also teases that "some major game updates" will also be coming next week. You can read more on Reddit.Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 November 9 Update Patch NotesGeneralAll players get 2X Tier Boost in MP and Blackout, plus 2X Nebulium Plasma in Zombies through 10AM PT on Monday, Nov. 12.ZombiesStabilityResolved an issue that could cause the game to crash when the player is near the Mystery Box.Resolved an issue that could cause the game to crash when a player dies or leaves the game when using the Staff of Ra Special Weapon in the Chaos Story.Resolved an issue that could cause the game to crash when Zombies attack the player through barricades.Voyage of DespairResolved an issue that could cause the game to crash when a player leaves the game while using the Svalinn Guard.IXResolved an issue that could cause the game to crash when a player leaves the game during the Main Quest.Resolved an issue where, if a player left a game while another player was contributing to their challenge, the remaining player would crash when attempting to complete the challenge.Blood of the DeadResolved two issues that could cause the game to crash when a player fails, bleeds out, or leaves the game during portal events in the Main Quest.MultiplayerHardcoreSMGs now have a one-hit kill potential at close range in Hardcore.Reduced Armor protection so that all weapons will now kill in 2 hits maximum in Hardcore.Hardcore Team Deathmatch and Hardcore Kill Confirmed now allow 2 of the same Specialist per team.Misc.Resolved an issue where players would not be kicked for inactivity in round-based game modes if the round ended before the kick timer.BlackoutWeaponsPaladin HB50 Slightly increased damage to reduce headshots required to take out an enemy equipped with Level 3 Armor and 200 Health from a Trauma Kit.Enemies were escaping these fights with 4 Health, so we’re bumping the damage just enough to cover that gap.EquipmentConcussion Grenade Players can now change stances after being hit with a Concussion Grenade. Red Dead Redemption 2's multiplayer mode, Red Dead Online, wasn't available when the game launched last month. Instead, it's slated to arrive sometime in November. Now, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has teased when this month the mode may be available.During an earnings call, Zelnick said Red Dead Online is set to launch "toward the end of the month." That's not entirely specific, but it's the first time we're hearing anything about when in November Red Dead Online will release.Red Dead Online will be released initially in beta form, and developer Rockstar Games is expecting some hiccups and other teething problems. As for what the mode actually entails, we've heard very little; you can read about what we hope to see in Red Dead Online. Rockstar summed it up this way:"Using the gameplay of the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 as a foundation, Red Dead Online will be ready to be explored alone or with friends, and will also feature constant updates and adjustments to grow and evolve this experience for all players."Launching near the end of November means Red Dead Online may release around the Thanksgiving holiday in the US and the Black Friday bonanza shopping season. The Red Dead Redemption 2 Achievements/Trophy lists contain some clues about what to expect from Red Dead Online. The "Series Major" achievement is earned by taking part in a Series, whatever that is. Another achievement is unlocked for accepting a certain number of Free Roam missions, while Red Dead Online will also have some kind of a numerical ranking system. There will also be "posses" in Red Dead Online, and you can earn an achievement for successfully countering a rival posse's free roam mission, but it's not exactly clear what that means. You'll also be able to purchase camp improvements in Red Dead Online.Like GTA Online with GTA V, Red Dead Online is a free experience for everyone who buys Red Dead Redemption 2. The mode is expected to feature microtransactions as part of Take-Two's ambition to put microtransactions in pretty much all of its games. GTA Online was and continues to be a tremendous commercial success, and Red Dead Online looks to continue that. The staggered release between base game and its online mode is nothing new for Rockstar. The studio's previous title, Grand Theft Auto V, launched on September 17, 2013, with its online mode--GTA Online--arriving about two weeks later on October 1.Red Dead Redemption 2 has shipped 17 million copies, and it needed just eight days to surpass the number of copies the 2010 game Red Dead Redemption shipped in eight years. Are you looking forward to Red Dead Redemption 2's online mode? Let us know in the comments below!Info from Gamespot.com

Red Dead Redemption 2 is now available on both PS4 and Xbox One, but if you haven't been paying close attention, you might be wondering where its multiplayer mode is and how to access it. Red Dead Online, as it's called, is not yet available; instead, it will launch sometime in November as a beta. There's still very little known about it, but you can read our original story below for what we do know. Additionally, Take-Two has now narrowed things down slightly, saying Red Dead Online launches in late November.Rockstar has shared the first details regarding Red Dead Redemption 2's online mode, named simply Red Dead Online. As was the case with Grand Theft Auto V's online component, GTA Online, Red Dead Online will not launch alongside the game itself; instead, it will debut sometime in November 2018--one month after Redemption 2 itself releases--and will start as a public beta. Anyone who owns a copy of RDR2 will have free access to Red Dead Online; there's no indication the multiplayer mode will be made available separately."Using the gameplay of the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 as a foundation, Red Dead Online will be ready to be explored alone or with friends, and will also feature constant updates and adjustments to grow and evolve this experience for all players," the announcement states. But in a moment of expectations-setting, the announcement also warns that players who hop on immediately are likely to experience some growing pains. Specifically, the studio says it expects turbulence at launch, and to work with the community to overcome "teething problems" and develop Red Dead Online over time. That roadmap makes it sound very similar to Grand Theft Online, which was fairly rough when it first launched a few weeks after the launch of Grand Theft Auto V. Rockstar has been treating it as a live service since then, though, and has continuously added new features, modes, and cosmetic items over the course of years. Red Dead Online is likely to get a similar treatment given the phenomenal long-term success of GTA V.The November launch target also sets it apart from the release date for Red Dead Redemption 2 itself, which is set to release on October 26. It's nearing Thanksgiving, and that means the infamous Black Friday is right around the corner. It's a day where a sea of people invade retail stores like White Walkers trying to get past The Wall. Kohl's--a story primarily known as a clothing retailer--has a few deals that may be up your alley, including gaming. From TVs to a ton of smart home products and smart watches, Kohl's giant Black Friday circular has a plethora of items available on the shopping holiday. Many of these deals are available online and in store, but the doorbuster deals begin online at 1:01 AM ET on Thursday, November 22 and in stores at 5 PM, locally, the same day, but check with your participating local Kohl's store in case its hours vary. In terms of sheer numbers, deals on individual games represent the bulk of the gaming offers we see on Black Friday. Based on what we've seen so far this year, that will again be the case, but it doesn't mean you have no cheap options for picking up a console like PS4.While it's still early, the ads we've seen released to date do include some very nice PlayStation 4 offers. One of Target's best gaming deals is a doorbuster that gets you a 1TB PS4 Slim and a copy of Spider-Man for only $200. You'll find an identical sale at both Best Buy and Walmart, too. You could argue that would be a nice price for the system alone, but to get a $60 game that was just released in September makes it even sweeter. While this being available through at least stores is encouraging, if you're interested, you'll want to head to your local store (or to its website) as soon as possible on Black Friday. In some areas, stores will actually open on Thanksgiving Day, and Best Buy will have early access in the beginning of Thanksgiving week. You can check out the full Target ad or the store you plan on heading to for further details. We're sure to see more deals pop up for PS4, and we'll continue to update this post as they emerge. One pre-Black Friday offer is coming on November 10 at Sam's Club, where you can buy a system (without any bundled games) for $229. Unlike Target, however, Sam's requires you to have a membership. On the games side, we've already seen confirmed discounts for some of PS4's biggest games of the year, including God of War, NBA 2K19, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. We'll be hunting for deals all month long, so be sure to check back with us as more Black Friday ads are revealed, and check out our roundup of PS4 deals.Who Has The Cheapest PS4 On Black Friday?Best BuyPS4 with Spider-Man -- $200TargetPS4 with Spider-Man -- $200 [Doorbuster]WalmartPS4 with Spider-Man -- $200Info from Gamespot.com

What a wild year it has been for movie theater subscription services. The meteoric rise of MoviePass is perhaps matched only by the sudden fall of the service, as other options came to market--including Sinemia and AMC Stubs A-List, each of which managed to offer perks MoviePass couldn't. Make sure to take a look at our review of all three services. With the year coming to a close, though, there's another change happening. AMC is raising the prices on their A-List service, at least in some states. According to The Hollywood Reporter, AMC Theaters is raising the subscription price for Stubs A-List beginning in January 2019 in 15 states and one district--the ones where the service is most popular thus far. With that higher price, users will still be allowed three tickets each week, including 3D and IMAX format screenings. For California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York, the service will rise from $19.95 each month to $23.95. Meanwhile, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, and the District of Columbia will see their price rise to $21.95.As AMC CEO-president Adam Aron explained to THR, the increase will help keep the program profitable. "Our decision to keep the AMC Stubs A-List monthly price unchanged in 35 states, along with only a modest price adjustment in some key markets going in place in early 2019 will keep us in that sweet spot of successfully balancing profits and popularity," he said. It's not too late to lock in the $19.95 price, though, at least for a year. Aron revealed that new subscribers who sign up before the end of 2018 will not see their rates rise for a full 12 months after enrollment. As for the future of AMC Stubs A-List, this likely isn't a sign that the service is struggling. When MoviePass changed its terms, it tended to do so at the last minute, leaving many confused about what, exactly, they got for their money. Stubs isn't changing any of the terms of its subscription, other than the price in selected states.Info from Gamespot.com

With Black Friday getting closer, more deals have sprung up for the big sales day on November 23. While you can't act on these deals at this time, it's good to know what's coming up before the busiest sales day of the year. One of the deals we've highlighted here is for Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, otherwise known as PUBG.As of now, PUBG on Xbox One will have some upcoming sales at Best Buy, Target, and Walmart for less than $20. In addition to this game, we also had an upcoming look at sales for other games including Assassin's Creed Odyssey, God of War, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4--which recently launched the series' first crack at the battle royale genre.Though other games like Fortnite have overtaken PUBG's former dominance in the growing field of free-for-all games, it's still a popular title and has a solid player base on both PC and Xbox One. With three different maps to fight it out on, and featuring many different types of skins, weapon decals, and other customization options--PUBG focuses a lot more on tactical gameplay compared to the Fortnite's more arcadey style action. The most recent event happening in the world of PUBG is a promotional tie-in featuring the Joker and Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad. In our review of PUBG last year, editor Michael Higham gave it an 8 and stated: "PUBG's technical shortcomings can undermine its broader achievements on rare occasions, but they don't override your desire to continue playing. Each phase of a match presents a different type of tension that is equal parts thrilling and terrifying, driven by the insatiable desire to be the last person (or squad) standing. Whether you play solo or in a group, successfully executing adaptive tactics to win intense, high-stakes firefights makes for an incredibly rewarding experience. Every player has unique stories of their most memorable matches, and even after hundreds of hours, PUBG continues to inspire rousing tales of victory and defeat."There's still many more deals coming in the time leading up to Black Friday. Remember, many of these until the time of Black Friday, so keep that in mind when you're sorting through these deals early. If you want to know more about what's coming up, be sure check out our roundup of Black Friday deals on GameSpot.PUBG$15 -- Best Buy$15 -- Target$17 -- WalmartInfo from Gamespot.com

Among the biggest game releases of the fall season has been Assassin's Creed Odyssey. That's true both in terms of its stature, coming as the latest game in a major franchise, and its sheer size--it's a long game with a staggeringly large map. Despite having only released in October, Odyssey is among the games you'll find on sale this Black Friday.Despite still being a couple weeks away, the first Black Friday ads have been released. While there are many more to come, Target's ad led the way and confirmed Odyssey will be discounted during Black Friday. It'll be $35 for a physical copy of the game on both PS4 and Xbox One, a price we've since seen matched in the Walmart ad. However, the best price so far comes from Best Buy, where Odyssey will cost only $30.The various digital game stores could also discount Odyssey, and some physical retailers may even offer the digital version, as we saw with Walmart last year. We don't yet know if it will be discounted on PC, so stay tuned for more details.Odyssey was well received upon its release, further building on the RPG shift the series took with 2017's Origins. It allows you to play as a male or female protagonist as you choose between the siblings Alexios and Kassandra. The aforementioned large world map is comprised of many landmasses, but there's also plenty of sea for some Black Flag-style naval action. In our Assassin's Creed Odyssey review, Alessandro Fillari wrote that the game's "ambition is admirable, which is reflected in its rich attention to detail for the era and its approach to handling the multi-faceted narrative with strong protagonists at the lead, While its large-scale campaign--clocking in at over 50 hours--can occasionally be tiresome, and some features don't quite make the impact they should, Odyssey makes great strides in its massive and dynamic world, and it's a joy to venture out and leave your mark on its ever-changing setting."Ubisoft has plans for both free and paid DLC for Odyssey, as the company hopes to keep you playing long-term; there won't be a new Assassin's Creed game released in 2019.Below you'll find the complete list of Black Friday deals on Odyssey. It's quite brief for now, but we'll continue to update this as more ads are revealed.Assassin's Creed Odyssey Black Friday DealsPS4$30 -- Best Buy$35 -- Target$35 -- WalmartXbox One$30 -- Best Buy$35 -- Target$35 -- WalmartInfo from Gamespot.com

Destiny 2 players are still hoping for a new Exotic in Thunderlord, which is presumed to be the reward for the on-going, multi-week murder-mystery quest that started at the end of the Festival of the Lost. But if waiting three weeks to get your hands on a new Exotic is just too long, you can rely on Xur, the weird merchant and servant of The Nine who pops up each weekend. As always, he has a handful Exotics to sell you in exchange for Legendary Shards. Here's where to find him and what he's selling right now. This week, you'll find Xur on Io. Spawn in at the Giant's Scar landing zone and hop on your sparrow, then head straight through the Cabal base into the drilling area beyond. Head for the northwest corner of the area and look for a cave near some Taken enemies. Inside and to the right is Xur, creeping in the darkness. His lineup of Exotics, as per usual, includes one weapon and one piece of armor for each of the three classes from the Year One collection. The weapon is The Prospector, a grenade launcher you can hold down the trigger to fire in full-auto mode. When you release the trigger, you can detonate all your launched grenades at once--and they stick to surfaces and set things on fire, too.The Prospector (Exotic grenade launcher) -- 29 Legendary ShardsWinter's Guile (Exotic Warlock gauntlets) -- 23 Legendary ShardsOphidia Spathe (Exotic Hunter chest armor) -- 23 Legendary ShardsAeon Safe (Exotic Titan gauntlets) -- 23 Legendary ShardsAlongside the direct-purchase items above, Xur has the Fated Engram. This is guaranteed to decrypt into a Year One Exotic you don't already own, making it a good way to fill out your collection if you find Xur's offerings lacking--provided you can afford it.Even if you can't, the latest Destiny 2 update mercifully makes Exotic duplicates less likely to drop. The game now accounts for the Exotics you've got in your collection when a new one drops randomly in the world, which will decrease the chance of getting an Exotic you already own. Duplicates are still possible, but Bungie has also changed things so dupes are more likely to be armor than weapons, because armor pieces feature random perks, meaning there is a potential upside to finding something you already have. The update has also increased the chances of unlocking a quest to get another Exotic: Malfeasance, a Taken-infused hand cannon. The quest line to track it down starts when a specific boss, the Primeval Ascendant Servitor, appears in Gambit matches. Bungie's last update upped the rate at which the Servitor shows up in Gambit, which should hopefully mean more Malfeasances for more players.Xur is here until the weekly reset on November 13, and he'll only show up two more times before Destiny 2 closes Season 4 on November 27, according to a recent blog post. That means your Gambit and Crucible ranks will reset--but at least in the meantime, you'll be able to jump into Iron Banner again starting on November 13 to try to complete your spiffy Iron Lord armor sets. Editor's note: This is an early take on Battlefield V for PC; a full review is in the works but we will require many more hours to fully engage and evaluate everything the game has to offer. The overall opinion is subject to change through the review process. The Battlefield series has always been about capturing the scale of war, and Battlefield V delivers as expected. Large maps made of both open fields and narrow lanes pit players in chaotic fights to capture objectives and deplete the enemy respawn count. Different classes empower soldiers with specific capabilities that provide distinct advantages in the right situations. And of course, tanks and aircraft not only change gameplay dynamics, but can swing the tide of battle in deft hands. The initial impression is that Battlefield V revels in familiarity--this entry doesn't stray away from the franchise formula, but it's a fine execution thus far. It's been a while since the franchise set foot in World War II, but this time, it does so with lesser-known conflicts at the forefront. It's oddly refreshing to discover aspects of history that go overlooked. While we've had a steady diet of the snow-covered Narvik map prior to release, the game's collection of landscapes are varied set pieces. The lush vegetation of Western Europe and the harsh deserts of North Africa present beauty in the wake of utter destruction--all these battles have been inspired by the history books and realized in a refined Frostbite engine, which has never looked better. However, the maps themselves have their limitations.Battlefield V is as devastating as it is beautiful.Conquest has always been Battlefield's staple. Two huge teams fight to control capture points across a sprawling map, which helps hasten the drain of the enemy ticket count. It's a time-tested mode, but it also highlights the shortcomings of a few maps. I can admire the spectacle of Fjell 652 and the tight firefights that take place around the capture points, but navigating the map's narrow paths hasn't been much fun. Narvik's capture points encourage a variety of encounters with regards to distance, elevation, and space, but rather than flowing together, the maps feel like a collection of disparate parts for the sake of enabling these types of engagements. Metropolitan maps have certainly worked in the series' past, but Rotterdam hasn't been a great showcase of Battlefield V's strengths as matches can easily devolve into tedious shootouts on city streets. If you're caught out of place, you'll be punished--in other words, you'll be shot in the back and flanked from unsuspecting locations frequently. While it can grow frustrating, overcoming seemingly hopeless scenarios is part of the process.Grand Operations takes you into war-like scenarios that set teams up for a series of three consecutive matches, each in a different game mode and map (or variation of a map) from the same theater. This mode can be a big time commitment, but it has been the best part of Battlefield V so far, as Grand Operations keeps up the momentum and shakes up gameplay just enough to retain players through the course of the whole set of matches. The light contextualization of what both sides are trying to accomplish that goes into each phase helps (ever so slightly) paint a more enticing picture of multiplayer, rather than having you unceremoniously jump into the fray.Success in Battlefield V very much depends on being at the right place at the right time. If you're caught out of place, you'll be punished--in other words, you'll be shot in the back and flanked from unsuspecting locations frequently. While it can grow frustrating, overcoming seemingly hopeless scenarios is part of the process. Adapting to situations that develop on the field and being a helpful teammate are further encouraged by the four returning classes: Assault, Medic, Support, and Recon. So far, it seems like a small tweak helps to bring out teamwork--squadmates can revive each other regardless of class, without negating the importance of Medics since they can revive anyone and dole out additional health packs.Player progression is dispersed in several ways. For one, you have career progression, which is your simple overall rank. Then there's class progression, which paves the way for unlocking equipment to further customize your loadout. And lastly, both weapons and vehicles contain their own progression paths. There appears to be a lot of systems at work, but rewards seem fairly lean outside of skins and individual weapon perks.Microtransactions are currently absent from the game, so we can't comment on the business model yet. However, you earn in-game currency called Company Coins, which appear to be mainly for acquiring cosmetics like soldier uniforms and weapon camouflage. A few things like weapon perks cost Company Coins, but thankfully they're cheap and require you to reach a certain level beforehand. The game's not a multiplayer-only endeavor with the return of War Stories, the single-player campaign offering that debuted in Battlefield 1. It serves as a tool to acquaint yourself with the basics of the game while providing grounded perspectives from contrasting theaters of war. Battlefield V itself starts not on a main menu, but in a playable teaser of each vignette from War Stories. Part of me wants to fully accept the sincerity that's trying to be communicated through the narration and cutscenes, but I can't help but feel it veering off into melodrama to a fault. I've only touched on the English campaign, but I'm hoping it makes good on the humanizing tone it appears to go for.Sloshing through the mud in a tank in Twisted Steel is a necessary Battlefield V can be rough around the edges. Player models can clip through the world's geometry, sometimes sending bodies into a ragdoll frenzy. You may see teammates get revived only for their character model to frantically zip 20 feet in another direction. As of now, servers have occasional instability in terms of performance and packet loss (which causes choppy motion in-game). Thankfully, I haven't experienced hard crashes or drops from servers. The initial impression is that Battlefield V revels in familiarity--this entry doesn't stray away from the franchise formula, but it's a fine execution thus far.As of now, it feels as if Battlefield V is a variation on a well-established theme. It maintains the series tradition of grand spectacle with incredible sound design, impactful weaponry, and large-scale multiplayer chaos. There's a lot more to dig into, like the fortification system, squad reinforcements perks, and how destruction may change map dynamics, and spending more time with the game will paint a better picture. At the end of the day, it's still Battlefield, and Battlefield V is shaping up to be a good one at that.Info from Gamespot.com

As you play Red Dead Redemption 2, you'll start to see notifications informing you that you've completed a challenge. Now this all sounds fine and dandy, but you're likely asking yourself: "What does completing challenges do? Heck, why should I even bother completing them?" That's a fair question, and we're here to answer it.Challenges are gameplay feats you complete to earn XP and unlock upgraded equipment for purchase at your local trapper, such as new Gun Belts, Bandoliers, Holsters, and Off-Hand Holsters. Each piece posses its own perks that increase either ammo capacity or decrease weapon degradation rate. Equipping them even improves your general statistics, but more on that in a second. There are nine challenge categories in total, each with ten feats to complete. As you'd expect, the feats vary per category. For example, the Bandit challenges has you working to hold up townsfolk, steal wagons, and amass a sizable bounty, while the Explorer challenges focus on you finding treasure. It's important to note that you must complete challenges in sequential order, so you can't just prioritize completing the seventh challenge over the first few only because it's easier.Completing challenges is a worthwhile endeavor, as the equipment you unlock offer bonus bars around your Health, Stamina, and Dead Eye Cores when you complete the set. You are rewarded an extra bar when you complete one of the three sets associated with that statistic. And you unlock an additional bar to that statistic once you've acquired all three sets associated with it. The table below contains details on which equipment set is associated with which attribute.AttributeEquipment SetHealthHorsemanSharpshooterWeapons ExpertStaminaBanditGamblerMaster HunterDead EyeExplorerHerbalistSurvivalistThere's even an extra bonus in store for you upon completing all 90 challenges. You unlock a special outfit called "Legend of the East," which provides hefty bonuses to Arthur's statistics.
