Filming has officially finished on the upcoming Borderlands movie, according to a tweet by game company Gearbox Software. Filming officially commenced back in April, and no release date for the film has yet been released. However, post-production is expected to be "substantial."Based on the popular sci-fi shooter series of the same name, the movie version is directed by Eli Roth and written by Aaron Berg and Craig Mazin. Borderlands creator Randy Pitchford has said that the Borderlands film exists in a parallel "Borderlands Cinematic Universe," making it separate from the story of the games. That also means, based on how this film fares, there could indeed be a whole universe of movies ahead--or at least that are being potentially planned for."We are authentic to characters, tone and style, but allow for independent storylines. The mediums are not the same, so the content should not be bound to the same rules," Pitchford explained in a recent Q&A.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Sonic the Hedgehog isn't done celebrating his 30th anniversary just yet, as now the blue blur has raced his way into Minecraft in a new DLC.Available now via the Minecraft Marketplace, Minecraft's Sonic the Hedgehog DLC transforms the game into a 3D runner that can be played with friends, with each player competing in a race to the finish while collecting as many "rings" as possible. I say "rings" because these are not, technically speaking, rings at all, but rather incredibly angular golden squares. But hey, that's Minecraft for you.Iconic Sonic enemies, including Dr. Robotnik, as well as characters like Shadow, Tails, Amy, and Knuckles all look to be featured in the DLC. Players will be speeding through Minecraft versions of well-known Sonic maps like Green Hill Zone and Chemical Plant Zone, complete with bounce pads and loop-de-loops.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Marvel's Avengers players on PS5 should be wary of streaming the game online as a glitch in the latest patch is causing sensitive information, including usernames and IP addresses, to display on-screen.The official Marvel's Avengers Twitter account announced the issue after users, including Forbes contributing writer Paul Tassi, reported seeing their information being displayed at the top of their screens for all to see. Developer Crystal Dynamics confirmed it's investigating and urged players to "refrain from streaming" until a hotfix is deployed on June 23 at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET. Though it's been confirmed to impact PS5 players in particular, it's unclear if this glitch affects other platforms. We are currently testing a solution to the issue of personal information, including the player's IP address and username, being displayed on screen on PS5 and plan to deploy a hotfix tomorrow at around 8AM PT. — Marvel's Avengers (@PlayAvengers) June 22, 2021This is bad for a number of reasons, as someone's IP address could lead to that person being doxxed if the information is shared publicly. Doxxing is not uncommon among gamers, and this wouldn't be the first time a company has been responsible for the accidental leakage of personal information.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Pokemon Go developer Niantic is making some changes to the game's bonuses. As detailed on the official Pokemon Go blog, Niantic will be rolling back and tweaking some of the in-game bonuses it introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it's introducing some new ones in their place. After Pokemon Go Fest 2021 in late July, Niantic plans to remove or change some of the temporary bonuses it implemented last year to make the game easier to play from home amid lockdown restrictions. First, Incense will only have increased effectiveness while you're moving; it will no longer attract more Pokemon while you're stationary. Additionally, Buddy Pokemon will no longer find gifts as frequently as before, and Niantic is reverting the distance from which you can interact with Gyms and PokeStops "when it makes sense in different places."Not all of the temporary pandemic bonuses are being rolled back, however. Niantic confirmed that Incenses will continue to last for 60 minutes, and there will not be a walking requirement to participate in the Go Battle League. On top of that, you'll still receive triple Stardust and XP for the first Pokemon you catch each day, and you'll be able to open up to 30 gifts from friends daily.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Overwatch is at long last getting cross-play across PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, uniting the game's community and, hopefully, resulting in shorter matchmaking time for players.Players will need to connect their Xbox, Nintendo, or PSN account to Battle.net. Doing so will allow players to group up with friends regardless of platform for Quick Play, Arcade, and Custom games. Console players across Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch will be able to play Competitive matches together, while PC players can only play with fellow PC users when it comes to Competitive. Cross-play will be enabled automatically for players on PC. Players can opt out of cross-play should they so choose.Coinciding with the launch of cross-play is the limited-time Ashe's Deadlock Challenge, which offers unique rewards for both playing and watching Overwatch. Playing 27 games during the challenge's duration will score players a new Legendary Ashe and B.O.B. skin. And if 27 games sounds like a lot, don't worry--winning a game counts as two matches played. Players can also watch up to six hours of Overwatch on Twitch to score some new sprays.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Prime Video has plenty coming to the streaming service for July 2021. This includes new movies, TV shows, original programming, and anime. Check out everything coming and going from Prime Video in July below. While there is a lot of content hitting Prime Video next month, we won't sugarcoat it: It's still fairly slim pickings for standout or truly exciting selections. In fact, based on the batch of what's coming to Prime Video in July, it seems to be a great month for catching up on classics you may have missed for whatever reason. Firmly in that category, both on July 1, are the 1979's Alien and The Muppets Take Manhattan. As a double-header, maybe not a particularly cohesive or even family-friendly pick, but both are classic picks everyone should have seen at least once.In Alien, after a space merchant vessel receives an unknown transmission as a distress call, one of the crew is attacked by a mysterious life form and they soon realize that its lifecycle has merely begun. Many consider the sci-fi horror film one of the scariest movies ever made. The Muppets Take Manhattan, meanwhile, has the distinction of being the final Muppet film produced before creator Jim Henson's death--co-written and directed by Frank Oz, the movie's loose and extremely meta plot sees the Muppets move to NYC to produce their first musical. This is also the movie that introduced the Muppet Babies, toddler versions of the lead Muppet characters.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Hulu is the place to go for time-shifted TV watching, but the service has a deep library of content to rival that of Netflix, Disney+, and HBO Max. Between Hulu originals and licensed content, the service offers a wide variety of documentaries, from true crime stories like Sasquatch--which isn't about Bigfoot at all--to human interest stories like Minding the Gap and Soleil Moon Frye's Kid 90 film. Minding the Gap Year: 2018Director: Bing LiuGenre: Human InterestMinding the Gap, by director Bing Liu, tells the story of how skateboarding shaped his and his friends' lives. It's not going to reveal any horrible truths about life, but it will let you into an intimate world of young kids growing up quickly. Watch Minding the Gap on Hulu Apollo 11 Year: 2019Director: Todd Douglas MillerGenre: HistoryThe Apollo 11 moon landing is one of the most thoroughly documented events in American history, so it's hard to bring something new, but this documentary eschews talking heads for a more experiential look at the moment. Apollo 11 tells the story in the present tense with archival footage from NASA, and even the score uses instruments available at the time, in 1969, to complete the experience. Watch Apollo 11 on Hulu Hail Satan? Year: 2019Diriector: Penny LaneGenre: Government/ActivismThe Satanic Temple is the kind of thing you usually expect to hear about in frightened tones from pearl clutchers. This documentary looks at what the Satanic Temple--different from the Church of Satan--really gets up to, like fighting for social progress, the separation of church of state, and defense of human rights. Scary stuff. Watch Hail Satan? on Hulu RBG Year: 2018Directors: Betsy West, Julie CohenGenre: History/GovernmentThis documentary covers the life of late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, from the workouts she did to keep herself fit into her eighties to her many accomplishments to, of course, her detractors. This is a necessary documentary about the most well-known and influential modern Supreme Court Justice. Watch RBG on Hulu I am Greta Year: 2020Director: Nathan GrossmanGenre: EnvironmentalismCan you imagine being a world-famous figure, getting attention from celebrities, politicians, and the public before you're even 18? Environmental activist Greta Thunberg is no stranger to the attention at this point. Director Nathan Grossman began following Thunberg even before her weekly strikes helped propel her onto the world stage, and this documentary takes viewers behind the scenes to see Greta in the moments before her famous speeches. Watch I Am Greta on Hulu I am Not Your Negro Year: 2016Director: Raoul PeckGenre: Race/HistoryI am Not Your Negro, narrated by Samuel L. Jackson, tells the story of race in America through the writings of author James Baldon and the lives of him and other figures of the civil rights movement, and then connects that era to modern civil rights movements like Black Lives Matter. Watch I Am Not Your Negro on Hulu MLK/FBI Year: 2020Director: Samuel D. PollardGenre: Race/HistoryFrom 1963 until his assassination on April 4, 1968, the FBI extensively surveilled Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the orders of FBI head J. Edgar Hoover. This documentary reminds us of how Americans perceived the civil rights leader at the time and goes into detail about all the ways the United States government and FBI in particular worked to discredit him. Watch MLK/FBI on Hulu Kid 90 Year: 2021Director: Soleil Moon FryeGenre: Pop culture/celebrityWe know Frye as Punky Brewster, but when she wasn't wearing mismatched shoes and getting trapped in fridges, she was carrying around a video camera--back when they had their own bags--and documenting the lives of herself and her famous friends and their unique (and often destructive) childhood. Watch Kid 90 on Hulu Too Funny to Fail Year: 2017Director: Josh GreenbaumGenre: Pop culture/comedyRemember that time Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Dana Carvey, and Robert Smiegel had their own show written by people like Bob Odenkirk (Mr. Show), Robert Carlock (30 Rock), and Dino Stamatopoulos (Community)? Probably not--the Dana Carvey show, which ran for only 8 episodes, was guaranteed to succeed thanks to its legendary cast but failed when the network gave them too much freedom and ended up with Bill Clinton breastfeeding babies during a White House address. Watch Too Funny to Fail on Hulu The Orange Years: The Nickelodeon Story Year: 2020Director: Scott BarberGenre: Pop cultureSome of the documentaries in this list are hard-hitting, but The Orange Years is a love letter to the heyday of Nickelodeon in the late '80s and early '90s. The documentary goes all-in on nostalgia, covering everything from classic slime shows like You Can't Do That On Television and Double Dare to shows like Are You Afraid of the Dark, All That and, of course, Doug. You won't get any juicy gossip, but there's tons of love to be had. Watch The Orange Years: The Nickelodeon Story on Hulu Eating Animals Year: 2017Director: Christopher QuinnGenre: FoodIf you've ever even considered whether or not the meat you're eating is ethical, you might want to check out Eating Animals. This documentary explores factory farming both in how it mistreats animals and the people working in the industry. Watch Eating Animals on Hulu The Biggest Little Farm Year: 2019Director: John ChesterGenre: Food/Human interestBiggest Little Farm tells the story of two Los Angelinos who decide to leave their city life behind to make a life farming. The documentary covers triumphs and farm-destroying disasters like snails and coyotes. Rural nostalgia meets real world farming. Watch The Biggest Little Farm on Hulu Blackfish Year: 2013Director: Gabriela CowperthwaiteGenre: Animal rightsKiller whales are apex predators, the top of the food chain, and that makes them fascinating to watch, but dangerous to keep in captivity. Blackfish follows the story of captive orca Tilikum, involved in the deaths of three people. Watch Blackfish on Hulu The Most Dangerous Animal of All Year: 2020Director: Kief DavidsonGenre: True CrimeBased on the book of the same name, this documentary looks at the Zodiac Killer, from a different point of view. Gary Stewart, adopted as a child, seeks out his birth family. A sketch of the Zodiac Killer looks disconcertingly like his biological father, and things spiral from there as Stewart seeks the truth about his father--and maybe about the Zodiac Killer. Watch The Most Dangerous Animal of All on Hulu Sasquatch Year: 2021 Director: Joshua RoféGenre: True CrimeOstensibly about the legendary forest creature, this documentary is really about the forests of northern California and the illegal cannabis farms that were squirreled away deep within. It starts light and gets dark quickly as investigator David Holthouse puts himself in more and more danger. Watch Sasquatch on Hulu The Framing of John DeLorean Year: 2019Directors: Sheena M. Joyce, Don ArgottGenre: Celebrities/True CrimeThe DMC DeLorean is one of the most iconic cars in the world thanks to its unique look and prominent place in 1985's Back to the Future, but the story behind its creator is just as interesting. Alec Baldwin plays John DeLorean in this pseudo-documentary, which combines reenactments and behind-the-scenes footage to tell the story of a singular auto maker caught up in cocaine trafficking. Watch The Framing of John DeLorean on Hulu WeWork: Or the Making and Breaking of a $47 Billion Unicorn Year: 2021Director: Jed RothsteinGenre: BusinessWeWork made its name providing rentable workspaces for people without offices, but the company quickly expanded far beyond its value and crashed as a result. This documentary looks at founder Adam Neumann, the company's fast ascent, and his ousting following the scandal around the company's IPO. Watch WeWork: Or the Making and Breaking of a $47 Billion Unicorn on Hulu Tiny Shoulders: Rethinking Barbie Year: 2018 Director: Andrea Blaugrund NevinsGenre: Toys/GenderThe billion-selling doll known as Barbie lets its fans, young and old, pretend to be just about anything they want, but promotes an unhealthy body image. Tiny Shoulders dives deep into the history and cultural impact of Barbie. Watch Tiny Shoulders: Rethinking Barbie on Hulu Three Identical Strangers Year: 2018Director: Tim WardleGenre: Human interestActually being separated at birth is incredibly rare, but it's a huge cultural trope. When it actually happens, as with triplets Bobby, Eddie and David, it makes news. This documentary follows the triplets from their initial meeting and into the investigation of just how they became separated. A seemingly whimsical story becomes sad and at times disturbing upon further investigation. Watch Three Identical Strangers on Hulu The Amazing Jonathan Documentary Year: 2019Director: Benjamin BermanGenre: CelebrityThe Amazing Jonathan is a memorable entertainer who combines magic and comedy. This documentary is less about the character himself and more about the making of the documentary, which gets weirder and weirder with each turn. The next installment in the Transformers movie franchise is getting prehistoric. During a media event, it was revealed the next film's title is Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, and yes, they are finally diving into Beast Wars mythos. And there are a lot of familiar faces coming to the movie.Directed by Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II) and produced by Lorenzo Di Bonaventura (Bumblebee), the movie is set in 1994, seven years after the events of Bumblebee. The movie will partly take place in New York City, largely in Brooklyn. "I don't think we've ever seen the Autobots roll through New York," Caple Jr. said during a media event. The film's main characters hail from that borough, but it won't stick to just the city that doesn't sleep. The film will also take place at Machu Picchu in Peru as well. But since these Transformers films have covered the Autobots and Decepticons quite a bit, it was time for some new ingrediants to be added. Cue the Predacons and Maximals.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

He founded Boss Key Productions in April 2014 and launched two titles: 2017's gravity-defying first-person hero shooter Lawbreakers and 2018's '80s-themed battle royale shooter Radical Heights. The Sea of Thieves team at Rare had to really adjust its workflow in order to keep the new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed expansion, A Pirate's Life, a secret. In an interview with Gamesindustry.biz, Sea of Thieves executive producer Joe Neate said that the team had to adjust its work processes to avoid any information leaking out about the crossover with Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean."We changed everything in terms of how we worked and shared information internally," Neate said. "We send a team update each week. It's just a PDF about what all the different teams are working on. We codenamed everything, and we didn't include any imagery that was related to the IP in those."Sea of Thieves' A Pirate's Life update was announced during the Xbox and Bethesda Gameshow case on June 13 and released today, a little over a week later. The announcement came as a surprise, without any notable leaks ahead of time. Neate said that Disney and Rare first discussed the crossover at E3 2019, where Disney approached them looking to do a crossover with the multiplayer pirate game, with Pirates of the Caribbean as the leading IP. Neate and the development team had to consider how a crossover would fit into the game, since Sea of Thieves itself drew influence from Pirates of the Caribbean.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
