Destiny 2's weekly story in the Season of the Splicer has been some of its best ever. A big part of that is the ongoing, unfolding mystery of the actions undertaken by Savathun, the looming Hive god enemy Bungie has been slowly developing since the release of vanilla Destiny 2. Savathun's whole deal is executing elaborate, spooky plans that are all about deception and obfuscation--tricking you literally makes her stronger. And that makes this week's new events in Destiny 2 extremely suspect. Warning: We're about to get into story spoilers for this season. If you're not fully caught up, the Season of the Splicer has been marked by the Endless Night, a weird Vex simulation that's somehow blocked out the sun in the Last City, where all the humans and Guardians live. It might be the slow-burningest threat ever in Destiny; the Endless Night isn't a bomb or a ship that's going to crash into the Tower, but instead a miasma that is slowly draining electrical power, encouraging sickness, burdening resources, and damaging morale. The Endless Night has been making people edgy as food becomes increasingly scarce and infrastructure fails. It's like the City is under siege but without a clear enemy, and that has caused a number of people to turn inward to find someone to blame. There's distrust in the City's military leadership, the Vanguard, and there have been attacks against alien refugees, the Eliskni, who have been given shelter within its walls.Meanwhile, we've been attacking the Vex networks out in the solar system to try to disrupt the Endless Night and figure out what its whole deal is. Last week, we discovered the truth that had been suspected since the beginning: the Vex are actually under the control of Quria, a Vex machine that numbers among the Taken. The Taken are enemies that were magically manipulated by Oryx, the Hive god from Destiny 1's Taken King expansion--Oryx could use his special powers to rob them of their free will and turn them into weird spectral monster things.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Dan Houser, the co-founder of Rockstar Games who played a central role in the GTA and Red Dead franchises, is apparently setting the stage to create some kind of new company. After leaving Rockstar in 2020, Houser appears to be starting some kind of new company called Absurd Ventures in Games. The UK's registrar of companies said in a filing (via VGC) that Absurd Ventures in Games will work in the area of "ready-made interactive leisure and entertainment software development."Absurd Ventures LLC and Absurd Ventures in Games LLC companies have also been registered in the United States, dating back to February. In any case, it sounds like it's early days for Houser's new company, whatever it might be.Houser had been away from the company on an "extended break" since spring 2019 following the intense workload of Red Dead Redemption 2 before officially leaving in 2020. Doom Eternal developer Id Software has revealed that Invasion Mode, a planned post-launch mode that would let you enter other players' games and control enemies, has been replaced with a single-player horde mode. Invasion Mode was originally envisioned as a Dark Souls-inspired feature, but it seemed to be too ambitious given the current development setup for so many studios. Citing unforeseen consequences from the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the studio shifting to a remote work environment, Id Software has instead focused its efforts on the new horde mode and an upcoming rework of the multiplayer Battlemode."With these factors in mind, we have decided to redirect our focus from Invasion Mode to creating a totally new single-player horde mode," Id Software explained in a blog post. "We're confident this horde mode will offer you more of the diversity and challenge you're looking for in the game. In addition, the team continues to work on a refresh of Battlemode that includes a more competitive, rank-based structure, a number of gameplay and balance updates and another new map."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Toys for the upcoming movie Spider-Man: No Way Home are now available for preorder, and if we know anything, it's that these toys will give us some idea of what to expect in the movie. Back in 2017, a Lego set for Spider-Man: Homecoming let us know The Shocker and Damage Control would be a part of the film. Here's what we can figure out from the newly revealed No Way Home toys.First, there are numerous figures for Spider-Man in a black and gold suit. We've seen this used a couple times in the past. The most recent was the Spider-Man video game for PS4, where Peter Parker made a suit made from the same material as Doctor Octavius's tentacles, in order to fight him. The other time we've seen a black and gold suit in the comics was when Spider-Man wore the Spider-Armor MK II costume. Parker designed this suit after he lost his Spidey-Sense in order to give him a leg up in battle. Neither of these suits look identical to the one on the new toy, which you can see below. Also, it doesn't look anything like the Symbiote Spider-Man Suit, in case you saw a black-suited Spidey and thought we were getting Venom in the MCU. It will be available exclusively at Target, but is not available for preorder yet.Gallery There is another new Spidey-suit on display for the Funko Pops, and that's the Spider-Man Integrated Suit. It's the red, blue, and gold suit with some sort Doctor Strange mysticism incorporated into it. Why does Spider-Man need mysticism in his suit? We're guessing to jump into the multiverse. This movie has the multiverse, right? Additionally, there's a Doctor Strange Funko Pop as well, and he's holding a shovel. Why is he holding a shovel? We have no clue. You can check those out above as well. You can preorder the new Funko Pops at Target, including an exclusive Jumbo Pop.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
