PUBG Mobile's 1.5 update is launching today, bringing with it a huge map overhaul, a new Royale Pass system, and a partnership with the electric car company Tesla. With the update you can start an assembly line to claim a Tesla Model Y (in the game) and then drive it around the newly revised Erangel map.The Erangel map received among the biggest changes in this update, with shifts to its six main districts to center around a fictional company called Dynahex as part of the new Mission Ignition content. In the new Erangel, you can use new transportation and material search methods, and explore new buildings and interactive elements scattered throughout the map. HyperLines let you move between fixed points to connect the city, while dynamic moving parts like air conveyors and automatic doors allow differetnt types of travel. You can also ride an anti-gravity motorcycle, pick up a riot shield, or use a tactical marking device to find injured enemies or teammates in combat.Meanwhile, Tesla has built up Gigafactories across Erangel where you can start an assembly line to spawn a Model Y. Actor Jeff Goldblum will be taking on a recurring role in Season 5 of Search Party on HBO Max, according to Variety. Goldblum will play Tunnel Quinn, a "charismatic tech billionaire who enters a very public business partnership with Dory (Alia Shawkat) on the other side of her near death experience."Less than two weeks after Season 4 finished airing back in February, the show was surprisingly greenlit for another season. Surprising because, well, without getting into any spoilers--the previous season delivered a cryptic but satisfyingly conclusion to every storyline. But the show coming back to include Goldblum will be worth watching alone, as the actor's kooky charms will be a delicious addition to the show.He will likely feature prominently, as Quinn's character will collaborate with "Dory fold[ing] her old friends Portia (Meredith Hagner), Elliott (John Early), and Drew (John Reynolds) into the venture as they embark on an altruistic but terrifying journey." This synopsis alone basically resolves the--spoilers ahead--question as to whether the rest of the gang knows that Dory survived a fire that they assumed had killed her. Dalton Castle could soon be reunited with the Ring of Honor Six-Man World Championship if he wins against Shane Taylor Promotions at the Best in the World PPV on Sunday, July 11. President Joe Biden will sign an executive order this weekend calling for the Federal Communications Commission to restore net neutrality while targeting Big Tech, internet service providers, and Silicon Valley.According to CNN, the wide-sweeping executive order will do a number of things. This includes encouraging the use of a " broadband nutrition label" for ISPs to clarify the provider's services (like how much subscription rates are and sharing those findings with the FCC) and scrutinizing mergers more heavily to prevent "killer acquisitions" (such as Facebook's buyout of Instagram and WhatsApp). Among the policy's changes is the restoration of various net neutrality rules for ISPs.The executive order also encourages the FCC to prohibit internet companies from blocking, slowing, or speeding up certain websites, rules that were set in place during the Obama administration but reversed under Trump's presidency (Former FCC chairman Ajit Pai, who led the agency during the period, resigned before Joe Biden took office earlier this year.) Apex Legends gets a new Arenas map, Overflow, on July 13 at the start of the new Thrillseekers event. Unlike the other Arenas exclusive maps, Party Crasher and Phase Runner, Overflow is a lane-focused map--I reached out to Respawn to ask how Overflow changes the experience of playing Apex Legends' 3v3 mode and how the studio hopes to adjust the mode's initial formula going forward, especially with Ranked Arenas coming in Season 10."When we originally set out to make Arenas maps, we were testing many different configurations of what type of map could work with our sandbox of guns and legend abilities," Respawn lead level designer Dave Osei told me. "We had larger maps, smaller maps, lane-focused maps among a bunch of others. The two that were most fun are the two that shipped at launch--Party Crasher and Phase Runner. We learned from those two that what felt most fun was two main POIs and an open center to push players to make meaningful choices. Now that the mode has been out for a while, we can begin experimenting with new layouts to bring variety."One of the most noticeable aspects of Party Crasher and Phase Runner is that they're all designed with two large points-of-interest that stand opposite each other, with a wide-open middle section that provides plenty of sight lines. Squads can typically see what the other squad is doing via this middle section, and then respond accordingly. Fans knew WayForward, developer of the Shantae series and more recently River City Girls, was working on a RWBY game set in the world of Rooster Teeth's popular animated series. Now that game has an official name--RWBY: Arrowfell-- as well as an official release window of 2022.The news comes via a RWBY panel as part of Rooster Teeth's RTX@Home event, a virtual version of Rooster Teeth's annual fan convention. A new trailer for the game, seen below, reveals new characters and animated cutscenes, with WayForward also confirming the game will support local and online cooperative multiplayer. Fans know The Witcher now as a globally popular franchise of video games and a Netflix show starring Henry Cavill, but it began as a series of stories by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. Now the first book in the series, titled "The Last Wish," is getting a very cool new edition this December, which is also when Season 2 of Netflix's The Witcher will arrive.Netflix's official Witcher account announced the new edition on Twitter today. The "hardcover illustrated edition" of The Last Wish comes via publisher Orbit Books' Gollancz imprint. A Plague Tale: Innocence is now available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch, the latter of which is a cloud-based version of the game. Publisher Focus Home Interactive passed along PS5 and Switch codes so that we could see how both versions compare to the original game.On PS5, A Plague Tale features faster load times and audio enhancements, but the big changes come from the DualSense controller's haptic rumble sync with 3D sound and adaptive triggers, which make for a more immersive experience during the game's tense moments.
