A Quiet Place: Day one has been a big hit at the box office, and if you're looking to bring the sci-fi thriller home, preorders are now open for its upcoming Blu-ray release. Like most major releases, you'll be able to choose between A Quiet Place: Day One steelbook Blu-ray or a regular release, and for an extra-special version, Walmart is offering its own steelbook version that's slightly different from the one on Amazon. Walmart has "Stay quiet, stay alive" written on its Blu-ray steelbook cover, and who knows, that extra touch could make this extra-collectible. A Quiet Place: Day One If you haven't seen it yet, A Quiet Place: Day One shows the exact moment a horde of almost-unkillable aliens crash-landed on Earth and wreaked havoc across the planet. Bestial and almost unstoppable, the only way to survive was to go completely quiet as the alien invaders possess an acute sense of hearing to compensate for their lack of vision. The film stars Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong'o, Joseph Quinn, and Djimon Hounsou. The real star of the show is obviously the cat Frodo, who is played by two feline actors named Nico and Schnitzel.Special features for the Blu-ray haven't been revealed yet, but like other releases, there'll likely be behind-the-scenes documentaries, featurettes, and a collection of promotional materials on the disc. The 4K Blu-ray also comes with a standard Blu-ray disc and a digital version of the film to stream. Walmart-exclusive 4K UHD Steelbook Blu-ray ($35) Amazon 4K UHD Steelbook Blu-ray ($45) Amazon 4K UHD Regular Edition Several other Blu-ray preorders are also available right now, including Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Despicable Me 4, and a 20th anniversary edition of Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Yes, it has been that long since Jack Black kicked Baxter off of a bridge. For even more classic cinema, the Criterion Collection is on sale for 50% off at Amazon. This sale typically only happens once a year, so now is a great time to expand your personal film library with some of Hollywood's greatest feature films.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto VI is set for release in 2025, and given how massive the game's launch is expected to be, many are wondering how it could affect titles from competing companies. Ubisoft, for its part, has said it's looking forward to GTA VI's release because when a game as big as GTA VI comes out, it helps the market overall."What we see, generally, when GTA is coming, is that more people come to play. So generally it's positive on the overall market," CEO Yves Guillemot said during Ubisoft's latest earnings call.Guillemot went on to say that historical trends for Ubisoft's business bear this out. He said Ubisoft's games enjoyed "very good sales" around the time that GTA V came out in 2013, while its titles also performed well when the GTA V re-release for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S launched in March 2022.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Ubisoft has rolled out a free trial for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S--but not for PC players. The offer is available now and runs through July 28 for the action-adventure game. There are a few caveats, however. On a Ubisoft blog post, it's noted that the Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora free trial will last either five hours for players or until they "reach Hometree in 'The Aranahe Clan' main quest." Additionally, only single-player functionality is part of this offer, meaning co-op isn't available. An online connection is a requirement, as well.Progress made in the free trial will carry over for people who decide to purchase Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Ubisoft is sweetening this transition by offering up to 50% off the game, though double-check that price and edition before buying.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

One of the biggest points against any sort of augmented reality, mixed reality, or virtual reality is that the headsets are just too big and bulky. "Once they're just like wearing a pair of glasses," people will often say, "then I'll be more interested." Well, the latest iteration of Viture's virtual display glasses, the Viture Pro XR, are about the closest I've seen a device get to that point. Viture Pro XR Glasses $450 See at Amazon True to its name, the Viture Pro XR is an XR or "mixed reality" headset that works as a virtual display. While it's not an all-in-one device like the Apple Vision Pro, you can hook up the Viture Pro XR to a wide range of devices and use it as a monitor for office work, a personal home theater for watching movies or YouTube, or a giant screen for gaming. The screen reaches up to 1080p resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Best of all, they look like a chunky pair of sunglasses. While you won't be mistaking these for a pair of Ray-Bans, they nonetheless sport a design that looks unmistakably like sunglasses--ones that just project a giant screen in both lenses.Viture Pro XR glassesWe tested the Viture Pro XR over the last few weeks, specifically to determine its viability for gaming. After several sessions across multiple games and consoles, it's fair to say the Viture Pro XR lives up to its promise as an affordable virtual display--once everything is set up and the glasses are finally on your head, the experience is largely great. But, as you'll see, it can take some trial and error get to that point.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Prime Video's The Boys TV series wrapped up its fourth season this week, and the season went out with a bang. Now, the show's creator and showrunner has provided a peek behind the curtain of how the most climatic part of the finale was created, and it's getting people talking about the possibility of a video game based on The Boys. Major spoilers follow below.Eric Kripke revealed that the team works with Cncpt Studio to create detailed CG pre-visualizations for major scenes prior to filming, and this was the case for the season finale. Creating a pre-vis sequence like this can help the team decide on camera positions, lens, and coverage, Kripke said, all without having actors rehearse in person. Peter Jackson famously used pre-vis animatics to plan out some of its biggest and most complicated scenes as well. Many Hollywood productions do this. For the season finale of The Boys, Kripke enlisted Cncpt's help for the pivotal sequence where Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) launches tentacles out of his chest and uses them to rip the would-be president Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) in half. Cncpt's pre-vis of this sequence is pretty impressive in its own right, featuring all the main characters and their movements from the scene in pretty solid detail.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
