After almost nine years, Microsoft has announced a major milestone for the Xbox Play Anywhere initiative. There are now more than 1,000 games that support the feature, which lets people buy the title once and play it across Xbox platforms, Windows 10/11 PCs, and some PC gaming handhelds.Xbox Play Anywhere went live in September 2016, originally working between Xbox One and PCs. The feature also includes cross-save functionality and only works with digital copies of games. As a fun bit of trivia, the first Xbox Play Anywhere-supported game was ReCore, with Forza Horizon 3, Gears of War 4, and Halo Wars 2 following behind it. While sounding similar, it's important to note that cloud gaming with Xbox Game Pass is different from Xbox Play Anywhere.Microsoft has unveiled that there are more than 1,000 Xbox Play Anywhere-supported games. That means you can buy them on Xbox and then play them on PC or a PC gaming handheld for no extra cost."When we look at data for titles that are Xbox Play Anywhere enabled, these titles get 20% more gameplay because it's more flexible, because I can play on the go," said Xbox vice president of next generation Jason Ronald. Mentioning "on the go" is eyebrow-raising, especially after a report earlier this week pointing to a possible Xbox-branded handheld launching later this year.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Cozy farming sim Fields of Mistria received its v0.13.2 update today, March 13, and it delivers some small but significant changes to the game. This patch's biggest addition comes in the form of new items in the Lava Caves furniture set, which can be found in the Lava Caves biome, which was first introduced in the game's recent major update. The patch also increases the pickup range of essence particles, adjusts Louis' portrait positioning in the Relationship UI photo, and clarifies a detail of the Procuring the Sealing Scroll questline progression. In terms of bug fixes, this new patch makes Animal Sprite Statues lose Essence charge even when the player does not enter the Large Barn or Coop, squashes an issue that caused players to get stuck in a dive spot in the Deep Woods pond, and deals with two niche issues where certain interactions would cause rain to replace blizzard conditions in winter outside the Mines. There are a number of other additions as well, so check out the full patch notes below for yourself.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The Stand: The Complete and Uncut Edition (Hardcover) $29.68 (was $55) See at Amazon The End of the World As We Know It: New Tales of Stephen King's The Stand (Hardcover) $31.49 (was $35) | Releases August 19 Preorder at Amazon Stephen King fans can grab the stunning hardcover edition of The Stand: The Complete and Uncut Edition for nearly 50% at Amazon. As King's longest novel, the hardcover carries the highest list price of any of his 65-plus novels at $55. Right now, however, it's available for only $29.68, which is the best price in over two years. Unlike many King novels, including other hardcover editions, The Stand often sells for $40 or more, so if you're in the camp who believes The Stand is the best King novel (indeed, it is), scoop up this deal while you can. The Stand: The Complete and Uncut Edition (Hardcover) $29.68 (was $55) The Stand: The Complete and Uncut Edition restores the 400-plus pages King had to remove before the novel's original publication in 1978. The text wasn't removed because it was superfluous; it was all related to cost. A 1,100-plus page hardcover book costs a lot to manufacture, and King was still early in his career back then. His first novel, Carrie, was published just four years prior in 1974. The Stand was King's fifth book.By the time 1990 rolled around, King was a household name, which allowed Doubleday to publish the post-apocalyptic masterpiece in its intended form.At 1,152 pages, The Stand: The Complete and Uncut Edition claimed the distinction as King's longest novel--it just barely eclipsed the page count of 1986's It starring Pennywise the Clown (1,138 pages). Note: the current hardcover edition of It is actually 1,168 pages, but The Stand has a higher word count. One of the coolest aspects of the hardcover edition of The Stand is that Doubleday uses the original 1990 dust jacket for current printings. It's one of several King hardcovers currently utilizing the jagged, swooping title font and ominous collage backdrops. If you're a King collector, you should also check out the hardcover editions of The Shining, 'Salem's Lot, and Night Shift. These four books. look great. together on a bookshelf. It also doesn't hurt that The Shining and 'Salem's Lot are also among King's best novels, while Night Shift is notable as the author's first short story collection.Stephen King Classics with Nostalgic Cover Designs:All four hardcovers are on sale for nearly 50% off at Amazon. Each well-designed book includes a haunting dust jacket matching the one shown above. The Stand: The Complete and Uncut Edition (Hardcover) -- $29.68 ($55)The Shining (Hardcover) -- $23 ($45)'Salem's Lot (Hardcover) -- $25 ($45)Night Shift (Hardcover) -- $23 ($40)It's worth noting that the trade paperback edition of The Stand (1,200 pages) is available for $14.40 (was $22). See at Amazon The End of the World As We Know It: New Tales of Stephen King's The Stand (Hardcover) $31.49 (was $35) | Releases August 19 The Stand is a timeless classic in the post-apocalyptic fantasy genre. The sprawling tale about a weaponized pandemic is told from many different perspectives and features a staggering number of subplots and secondary stories within the wider narrative.King has alluded to The Stand and included characters from its world in his other works--he often does this in general--but there are certainly many more stories that could be told in the author's vividly realized apocalypse.King apparently agrees, as he authorized the creation of the upcoming anthology The End of the World As We Know It: New Tales of Stephen King's The Stand. The 800-page short story collection features stories by dozens of contemporary horror and thriller authors, including S.A. Cosby, Richard Chizmar, Meg Gardiner, Josh Malerman, Catriona Ward, and Paul Tremblay. King wrote the introduction, and the anthology was edited by Christopher Golden and Brian Keene. The End of the World As We Know It is scheduled for publication on August 19, so you have a few months to prepare by reading or re-reading King's original doorstopper. Ubisoft has unveiled Rainbow Six Siege X, and alongside that a new permanent game mode coming to the shooter, Dual Front. Dual Front is a 6v6 game mode featuring respawns, but it still preserves the tactical elements that Siege is known for.Dual Front takes place on a single large map, split into two lanes heading from one team's base to the other. Each lane consists of two sectors, which teams will have to capture one at a time by planting sabotage devices, similar to planting bombs in the main game mode. The two biggest differences here are that each team has six players and that teams will need to manage both attacking the new enemy sector while still defending their own. Teams can split up however they like, and after dying you have a roughly 30-second timer before you can get back in the fight. There is also a neutral zone in the middle where optional objectives, like escorting a hostage to a helicopter, appear, granting a bonus to the team that successfully completes it.Dual Front takes place in a large industrial area, with smaller areas like a Gas Station making up the sectors.Another big difference is the operator pool. There is a limited number of operators in the pool, 35 at launch, which will get rotated on a regular basis. The pool contains both attackers and defenders, which you can pick from freely. This means you can grab a defense-focused operator and go on the attack or vice versa, creating new strategic ways to try and win a match. Matches are expected to take around 20-25 minutes, and there is a timer automatically ending a match at 30 minutes. When Siege X launches, there will be one map featuring symmetrical lanes, but Ubisoft plans on updating and changing the map each season.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The next big video game movie to hit theaters is A Minecraft Movie, but how well is it expected to perform commercially? According to one tracking estimate, it could pull in $60 million or more in the US/Canada over its opening weekend in early April. The movie releases on April 4 and the domestic tracking estimate comes from NRG, as reported by Deadline. Box office predictions are fickle and are known to fluctuate. The movie's release is still three weeks away, so tracking could change as the release date grows closer. But assuming the $60 million figure holds, how does that compare to other recent video game movies? 2023's The Super Mario Bros. Movie made $146 million for its opening weekend in the US/Canada, going on to make $574 million domestically and $786 million internationally for a worldwide total of $1.3 billion. 2023's Five Nights at Freddy's, meanwhile, earned more than $80 million in the US for its opening weekend, going on to make $137 million in the US and Canada and $291 million globally.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Earlier this year, Microsoft ramped up its efforts to make Edge the browser of choice for gamers by giving it a Steam-like overlay that can allow players to easily access tips and tactics. Now, Microsoft wants to take things even further with Copilot for Gaming, a new in-game AI assistant that is still in development. And it's coming soon to the Xbox mobile app.Xbox's vice president of gaming AI, Fatima Kardar, unveiled Copilot for Gaming in the latest episode of The Official Xbox Podcast. Microsoft's stated goal is to give players a hand getting past some of the more difficult parts in games and coaching them when needed. Kardar also showed off how this could work in Overwatch 2 and Minecraft. However, Microsoft has clarified that these samples are "product concepts," rather than an example of a fully realized AI project. In Overwatch 2, Copilot told the player how they died, and how they can counter that tactic by choosing another character and resetting their strategy. For Minecraft, Copilot walked the player through some of the basics of crafting to get them started in the game. According to Kardar, the idea behind this is that Copilot shouldn't be omnipresent in the games. Instead, it should simply be there when players need it.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The race to be the first to clear the Mythic difficulty version of World of Warcraft's new Liberation of Undermine raid is still ongoing, though a group of exploiters have already technically cleared it. Twice. It all happened last week when the raid launched. A guild by the name of RAoV (Random Acts of Violation) Quality Assurance managed to, somehow, clear the raid's final boss, Gallywix, before any other boss in the raid while decked out in practically useless grey items. As soon as the feat began appearing on raid-tracking sites like WoWProgress, Raider.IO, and even Blizzard's own WoW Hall of Fame, players started scratching their heads over how it was done. Blizzard, however, was already on the case. "We immediately began an investigation into these unusual kills, and we detected a group of new accounts using an exploit to cast an internal spell to kill Mythic raid bosses, including Chrome King Gallywix," WoW community manager Kaivax said on the game's forums. "Our security engineers quickly moved to put a stop to the cheat and take action against the accounts involved, and we have cleared the Hall of Fame to await the rightful winner to the RWF."Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Ubisoft has unveiled Rainbow Six Siege X, the next evolution of the multiplayer shooter, coming at the start of Y10 S2 on June 10. Not to be confused with the Rainbow Six Siege 2 some may have been expecting, the update makes a ton of changes to Rainbow Six Siege, big and small. Those include the first new permanent game mode since launch, the 6v6 Dual Front, which is designed to provide a new tactical experience for long-time players, as well as a friendly mode for new players to learn the game.Ahead of the big reveal I got to spend a few hours playing Dual Front, as well as the classic 5v5 mode on modernized versions of existing maps, which have drastically improved lighting and textures, plus a few other changes to the classic formula. While the name and framing might make it seem similar to other live-service titles getting major updates as sequels, like Overwatch 2, Siege X is more about bringing the decade-old-shooter up to modern standards, without losing anything in the process.Dual Front brings faster paced action to SiegeDual Front is a new permanent 6v6 mode coming to Rainbow Six Siege X when the update launches. This mode features one large map, with two lanes on each side and a neutral zone in the middle. Each lane has two sectors, which serve as small maps, leading into the enemy team's base. Team's will be tasked with taking control of the enemy sectors, one at a time, while also defending their own. How you decide to split up your team of six is up to you, and when players are killed, they do respawn after a roughly 30-second wait. When you respawn, you also have the option to swap operators, with a mix of offensive and defensive operators available. Matches are expected to last around 20-25 minutes, with a maximum of 30 minutes, which lined up with my experience while playing. A match could end much quicker if one team moves through sectors without much resistance.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
