Rockstar North's long-running Grand Theft Auto V is poised to leave Xbox Game Pass sometime soon, according to the service's official website.Under the "Leaving Soon" filter on Xbox's Game Pass subpage, GTA V is listed alongside It Lurks Below, The Touryst, and UnderMine. It's unclear exactly when these four games will leave Xbox Game Pass, but titles tend to be removed from the subscription service during the month's second week.GTA V is of particular mention. The eighth operation for Gears 5 is set to launch soon, with developer The Coalition introducing a fan-favorite character from Gears of War 3 and multiple Gears of War novels as a new multiplayer character option.Bernie Mataki, a seasoned COG veteran that links up with Marcus Fenix and company during the events of Gears of War 3, is being introduced into Gears 5. She's known for her excellent sharpshooting skills, which are keenly shown in the new teaser for the game's latest, and last, operation. Also included in this latest season is a new map called Ritual, which is set on Mataki's home of the Galangi Islands. Another Locust character, the Ketor Vral, is making a debut in multiplayer, too.Operation 8 will also include a new Tour of Duty, which The Coalition says will continue being refreshed in the weeks after release to give returning players something to look forward to. One of the surprises to come out of the recent EA Play showcase event was Battlefield Portal, a new scenario builder coming to Battlefield 2042. In a new interview, its developer, Ripple Effect Studios, talked more about what the mode is and how it differs from the base game.Speaking with Battlefield Nation, design director Justin Wiebe explained that the mode is meant to be a throwback to past games, and as such it will attempt to encompass the best of both worlds between older titles and the new game. For example, Ripple Effect is implementing two distinct tuning sets for weapons: One will bring the older games' arsenals more in line with Battlefield 2042, while the other will stay as true to the original tuning as possible.In addition, Wiebe said that servers will be free for everyone who owns Battlefield 2042 at launch. This means that anyone can go in and customize servers to their liking, and the server will persist as long as at least one person is playing. A determined Reddit user has managed to reconstruct cut dialogue between Ellie and Joel buried in the game files of The Last Of Us 2. It's a brief conversation where Joel asks Ellie about the origins of her tattoo.That user, taegukie, suggests that the dialogue was originally intended to happen in the "Finding Strings" flashback, where Joel talks about the comic he's been reading. The "moth hologram" mentioned in the audio is a fictional element of the Savage Starlight comic, and could possibly be the original source of Ellie's moth tattoo. During a presentation at GDC 2021, Gears of War developer The Coalition revealed its first technical demo using the latest tools in Unreal Engine 5, including its impressive Lumen lighting system and Nanite, the engine's virtualized geometry system.The demo, titled Alpha Point, isn't meant to represent any work on an existing game, but rather just the studio's first attempt at forming its working pipeline within the new engine for projects going forward. The demo is brief, with assets similar to the initial Unreal Engine 5 demo from last year. Hardware outlet Digital Foundry has concluded that the new Resident Evil Village patch fixed the stuttering issues caused by the game's anti-piracy technology. However, editor Rich Leadbetter stopped short of praising the move, saying that fans deserve an explanation for the shift.Capcom faced heavy criticism from players earlier this month when Digital Foundry concluded that the cracked version of Resident Evil Village actually runs better than the official version on Steam. An emulator that plays DOS games on iOS devices will soon be pulled from the App Store, its author says (via MacRumors). iDOS developer Chaoji Li said that his latest update for the game was rejected because it "installed or launched executable code," which is a violation of the App Store guidelines.Li says that he has 14 days to submit an update to remove the functionality. However, he says that he's not going to remove the functionality because he feels that it is critical to the app's performance, and he doesn't want to betray users who purchased the app for those features. Almost 1,000 current and former employees of Activision Blizzard have signed an open letter condemning the company's response to the recent discrimination lawsuit. As reported by Bloomberg, the letter was circulated today as the Call of Duty and World of Warcraft publisher continues to deal with allegations levied against it.The lawsuit brought forward by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing documents allegations of abuse, sexual harassment, and discrimination against women. The lawsuit claims that Activision Blizzard "fostered a sexist culture and paid women less than men despite doing substantially similar work, assigned women to lower-level jobs, and promoted them at slower rates than men, and fired or forced women to quit at higher frequencies than men." Google has announced that the application for the beta testing program Crowd Play on Stadia is open yet again. Crowd Play is a feature that allows stream viewers to join a queue to get into a multiplayer game with the streamer themselves. This lets fans interact with their favorite YouTubers and livestreamers like never before, by having fans directly join the gameplay.According to the application, there are only two requirements needed to apply for the Crowd Play beta.
