DICE's new military shooter Battlefield 2042 releases in October, but you'll be able to get a crack at the game ahead of time through a public beta. Now that the calendar has flipped over to September, which is when the beta is rumored to begin, EA has begun to tease the trial--and troll fans, too. While we wait for official word on the beta, here's what we know so far. What We Know So FarThe Battlefield 2042 beta was announced back in June when Electronic Arts revealed the game itself. At the time, EA confirmed the existence of a beta, but stopped short of sharing any concrete specifics. What we do know is that EA Play members who preorder the game will get early access to the open beta, but it's unclear how much sooner subscribers will get in.A tweet from Battlefield Bulletin in July that has since been deleted outlined all the key timing details for the Battlefield 2042 beta. According to the Battlefield Bulletin, the Battlefield 2042 open beta will begin on September 4 for those who preorder, with everyone getting in on September 6. The beta will then wrap up on September 11, according to the report. The tweet with all this information was deleted, so this information should be taken with a grain of salt.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

In NBA 2K22, gone will be the generic public-address announcer from past games. 2K is emphasizing the local flavor of NBA games by including every team's specific PA announcer--people who are often beloved by their teams' communities.Sports stadiums aren't just characterized by their architecture, but also by the sounds, style, and people who make them unique. This includes PA announcers, the people who commentate over the speaker system at a stadium while a game is going on. Much like TV commentators, PA announcers can become local legends based on particularly memorable calls in big games. You can see some of how the announcers will be incorporated in the game in the video below. The inclusion of local PA announcers is just one of the changes that 2K is implementing for the next entry in its basketball series. Gameplay is also getting a variety of additions, changes, and improvements. For example, every shot meter now has dynamic resizing, meaning that it rewards players for taking smart shots with strong shooters. On defense, 2K has overhauled shot blocking and changed stealing to better emphasize a particular NBA player's attributes. Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The first major content update for World of Warcraft's Burning Crusade Classic is right around the corner, and will add a new Arena season alongside two new raids in the forms of Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep. But entering those new raids isn't exactly as simple as walking through the instance portal. As outlined by Blizzard in a new blog post, the attunement process for being able to participate in the raids that will be added September 15 is not short or easy. As was the case when the original Burning Crusade launched in 2007, getting attuned is a multi-step process. First, players need to acquire various keys and unlock various dungeons and raids, then complete those dungeons and raids, and then complete even more dungeons on higher difficulties. There are also lengthy quest chains that often require up to five additional people to complete. The whole process can take upwards of a dozen hours or more to complete, and it's one of the reasons Burning Crusade, as groundbreaking as it was at the time, has become infamously associated with complex attunement charts like the one below.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

Sony Pictures has announced that Ghostbusters: Afterlife will now be hitting theaters on November 19. The recently released trailer you can watch below is well worth viewing until the very end, as it finishes with some strong suggestions that Dan Aykroyd will return as Ray Stantz. The movie was also recently screened at CinemaCon, and early response on social media from attendees in late August was glowingly positive. In addition to confirming that Aykroyd makes a return, joining him are Bill Murray as Peter Venkman, Ernie Hudson as Winston Zedemore, and Sigourney Weaver as Dana Barrett.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The next video game set in the Marvel Universe is one of magic and supernatural threats, as XCOM developer Firaxis is working on a tactical RPG called Midnight Suns. The game was first shown off at Gamescom with a cinematic trailer, and a week later, Firaxis is giving fans an early preview of what they can expect. While Midnight Suns is focused on using Marvel's most bankable mystical names for more strategic combat, the game doesn't play like a reskinned version of XCOM. Firaxis has instead gone for a Fire Emblem-influenced approach, one where characters can build relationships with Earth's mightiest mortals. For Midnight Suns, you'll be playing as a new Marvel hero named The Hunter, who's central to the story of Lilith and the world-ending threat that the mother of all demons represents.Combat takes more of a power fantasy approach, as Firaxis said that it wouldn't make sense for a Marvel superhero like Wolverine or Captain Marvel to be on the defensive while worrying about hit-chance percentages. A selection of ability cards will be dealt in each turn, and when combined with battlefield advantages, tactical team-ups, and quick thinking, you'll be able to quickly tear through enemy forces.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

The trailer for Creepshow Season 3 has been released. The latest season of Shudder's popular horror anthology show releases on September 23.The trailer cuts together lots of moments from Season 3's 12 stories, and while it's not always clear what the episodes will be about, it definitely looks like showrunner Greg Nicotero has pulled out all the scary stops for this season. The Suicide Squad and Walking Dead actor Michael Rooker appear as a cop somewhat alarmed by lots of dead bodies, and there are lots of cool, gooey monster effects--plus the stylized comic book visuals that were kickstarted in the original 1982 Creepshow movie. Check the trailer out below:Other actors set to appear in Creepshow Season 3 include James Remar (Django Unchained), Johnathon Schaech (Legends of Tomorrow), Reid Scott (Venom), Hannah Fierman (V/H/S), King Bach (The Babysitter: Killer Queen), and Ethan Embry (Stargirl). In keeping with the tradition of the movie, which was directed by George Romero and written by Stephen King, one of the stories is an adaptation of the short story "Mums," written by King's son Joe Hill.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com

343 Industries is bringing a classic game mode back to Halo: The Master Chief Collection, albeit likely for a limited time. As part of one of its routine playlist updates to The Master Chief Collection, 343 has reintroduced Grifball, the game of bombs and gravity hammers. The game mode, created by Rooster Teeth in its Red Vs. Blue series, was a mainstay in Halo 3 as a custom game mode before being adopted by then-developer Bungie. In the years since, Grifball has made appearances throughout the franchise and is now routinely rotated in and out of Halo: The Master Chief Collection's playlists.Make some throws and smash some foes! Grifball has returned to MCC, so you'd best be ready to put that Gravity Hammer to work. pic.twitter.com/F5Bqq4AjyB — Halo (@Halo) September 1, 2021Sadly, 343 Industries hasn't announced whether or not Grifball will be returning in Halo Infinite. The Iron Banner is one of Destiny 2's more interesting competitive events, popping up periodically each season to reward players with special weapons and armor they can't get anywhere else. Each season has seen new Iron Banner weapons appear, and in the Season of the Lost, you can earn all of them by completing a season-long quest called "For The War To Come," which you can pick up from Lord Saladin in the Tower. It's a bit of a grind, but with the right approach, it's possible to knock out each of For The War To Come's steps quickly and efficiently. Here's everything you can expect from the quest, plus some tips about how to overcome it in a hurry to earn a bunch of new drops that will increase your character's Power level and get the new weapons into your hands. Even if you don't knock out the quest quickly, though, know that you have all season to complete it, and there will be multiple Iron Banner events before the Season of the Lost comes to an end.Note that you can also get additional versions of the new Iron Banner guns, Peacebond and Forge's Pledge, by turning in Iron Banner tokens to Lord Saladin. The quest gets you some Pinnacle gear drops, though, so it's worth completing. It's also worth noting that certain requirements, such as capturing Control zones, are cumulative and will count toward later steps, even if you max them out on the step you're currently working on.Continue Reading at GameSpotInfo from Gamespot.com
